simbalion 812 Posted February 6, 2015 It is sad to see Radio Shack go. When I was a kid in the 80's, it was about the only technological store in ny town. I can recall the computers and even the little LCD handheld games my parents bought me there. I also have a couple 'laser' guns still in my collection from there during my childhood. Of course, the other sad thing is the loss of more jobs. On a final note: I think they were doomed after the conversion to a glorified cell phone store. Then the onslaught of the iPhone ane everything of interest becoming an app helped to seal the deal. Quote Link to comment
Nathan Strum 11,921 Posted February 6, 2015 There are some really good articles popping up on the web about Radio Shack's glory days. Here are a couple from Wired: How Radio Shack Helped Build Silicon Valley Dear Radio Shack, This Is Why We Adored You I'll be posting some more strips about it this week, and a dedicated blog entry, too. Radio Shack has always been fun to make fun of, but it was a big part of my youth, and I'll miss what it was. If you want a real nostalgia trip, check out the Radio Shack Catalog Archive. SpiceWare 8,827 Posted February 6, 2015 My first computer was going to be a CoCo; however, a Radio Shack employee lied to me (and my grandma) so I got a VIC 20 instead. Quote Link to comment
