Snake (2600)

It's been a while since I posted anything here, so I thought I'd share a mini game I was working on recently. It's a simple clone of the popular game Snake. Every 30 points, a new round starts with an increased snake speed. I still need to add sound effects and change the color of the score, otherwise it's pretty much done.   I originally planed to release a multicart that included Adventure 1K, Assembly Line, Pong 256 bytes, RAM Combat, and RAM Helicopter but decided that Pong and the RAM

Wonder Boy (2600) WIP

I started working on a Wonder Boy (AKA Adventure Island) clone a couple weeks ago, I thought I'd share this little demo The graphics are placeholders, of course. Physics are also terrible at the moment. The kernel currently supports:   * Single line resolution P0 with color update every line * Single line resolution P1 with solid color * Single line resolution BL * 5 buffered (scrollable) 16 line asymmetrical PF rows     Edit: I changed around the Kernel a bit and it now supports th

Adventure 1K update

I had some time to work on Adventure 1K, here is an updated version.   Updates:   * playfield is green * object graphics changed * two rooms * gate opening animation * collision detection between player and walls * multiple bug fixes   It still needs a bit of work, but I think it can fit into 1K.

Adventure 1K (2600)

I've been working on a 1K Adventure clone for the past few days. Right now, there are 431 free bytes. I'm not sure how many rooms I can squeeze in, I need to add a good amount of logic still too. Attached is a small demo

Vong gets a rating!

Looks like allgame gave Vong a rating!   It was rated 3.5/5 ("Very good" according to their scale), not bad for a 2K game written in a couple months by someone my age

Vong's 1 year anniversary

I was viewing the source code for Vong today and realized that the first official build of Vong was 1 year ago yesterday (3/28). The entire project lasted from 3/28/08 to 7/24/08, although I rewrote it on 6/13/08. It took 41 days to rewrite.   In celebration of Vong's 1 year anniversary, I have attached the source of the first build

whats wrong with my Willem?

I have been trying to program 2732 eprom chips with my Dual Power Willem (PCB3) programmer and have had no luck. I think the problem is that i cant get the Vpp up to the required 21v. If you can help me, please do!   As for other news, Harvest moon has been updated, if you want to download it, use one of the previous links.

update

i havent updated this blog in like a year, but i finally have the time and the news!   I just purchased two PIC16F84 and plan to make a video game system with them. I first will make Rickard Gunee's design and then design my own, possibly with an expansion port that will accept EEPROM based game cartridges after i get used to programming the PIC.   As for CombatZone, i did make some what of a title screen, but it is very bad and needs to be changed.   I did update Harvest Moon: Apple Cove

Apple Cove update

I have recently started working on Harvest Moon: Apple Cove again, and have uploded version 0.8 on www.ticalc.org. I am hoping that this game will get me back into 2600 programming. I have not done that in a while. I hope to have a title screen for CombatZone by the end of the week. I will keep you posted!   I have not had the time to update this blog lately, i have been too busy. I will update everytime i get the chance!   Apple Cove link:   http://www.ticalc.org/archives/files/filein

crazy stairs

there has not been free wifi for a while, but i am staying here for a few days, so expect multiple updates.   attached is a program that I wrote for the 2600. It looks pretty sweet, and i am proud of it. I think that i will be able to make a game. I really like programming for the 2600. I think that I will be the youngest person in the world to make a 2600 game in assembly (im only 13). there arnt any good games in the arcade that i want to play (there is contra, but i dont know how to pl

the arcade

I could'nt find the arcade. Its too bad because I am in the mood for some pac man or something right now.   I am leaving this campground tomarrow, so I dont know if the next one will have WiFi or not. This might be the last entry for a while.   I am finaly learning how to draw play fields! I am on session 13 (I lied in an earlier entry) and am learning how to manipulate PF1. I have an idea on how to draw an arismatical (or how ever you spell it) play feild, but I cant get my flash drive

haha, free wiffee

I am on a camping vacation and i was sad that i could not visit AtariAge for a while (Like three weeks!). Luckly, the first day (today) the campground we are staying at has free WiFi. we drove like 9 hours today and i am really tired of being in a car. At least I have AA to cheere me up! There is an arcade at this campground, but I did not go there yet to see if they had any atari related games. Maby I will make another entry later if I go.   I downloaded all of andrew's 2600 programming

2732

I think that i figured out the problem. I switched the jumpers around and now I can read 2732's. The 2732 is on the list of supported IC's, but I still cannot figure out how to program them. My willem can only go to 12.5V (I think...) And the 2732 needs like 25V (I think again...). If any of you guys own a willem like this (I think that it is a PCB3), please tell me how I can fix this problem.
