TapKey RPG

[#005] i don't know why i do this, but i've done this often and for years; i'll play a new game for a few minutes, and then decide to pretty much jack some game mechanic from it and create my own game, building around said game mechanic. after downloading a demo for Theatrythm: Final Fantasy on the 3DS, i put the system down and started to code (sadly, in Qbasic) what ended up becoming a pretty cool game that kinda looks like the 3DS game, and kinda plays like it, but it's become it's own thing. what's so cool about it, you ask? back in 2004, i started coding an RPG game called Chaos Mountain. it barely went past the story, and i really liked the character ideas i had. so i went back in time and brought those characters into my new game, making slight adjustments to them as i saw fit.

eight days later, and i'm happy to have completed coding/testing TapKey RPG. it's a very short game, but i'm happy with the crap i crammed in there, since i was making stuff up as i went. i won't go into detail about how to play the game or the backstory (there's an in-game manual for that), but i would love for people to check it out. maybe someone would even want to port it to an actual classic console.

here ya go:

TAP_RPG.EXE (94k) download via MediaFire (FOR PC ONLY)

one bit of advice; if you have a newer computer, you'll want to crank up the delay to something like 199999 so it won't run so fast.

and a couple of screen captures:

(1) a fourth of the in-game manual. (2) the battle begins...

P.S. - for anyone waiting for the completion of my epic MicroDungeon game, i shall be returning to it soon. :)
