Game Room to Nursery Conversion - Pt. II: It Continues
[#008] with less that three months to go and not much progress made, this weekend has become crunch time. we has just come back from a week-long Destin vacation on Friday, and i immediately went to work. a crib was already ordered, and i have to go pick up the baby's dresser/mirror/changingtable thing this coming Thursday. so with that said, crunch time is about to kick into overdrive.
over 90% of my handheld LCD/LED/VFD game collection has been boxed up and moved to my band's studio, which will be doubling as storage (as mentioned in Part One). below is a photo of the car loaded up with boxes.
and here is a photo of my wife and i about to pull out of the driveway. notice the smile on her face because i'm taking my stuff out of the house. notice my lack of smile.
here's a before picture of the $75 shelving unit i bought from Lowe's. my amazingly smart AND beautiful wife pointed out to me that i put the shelves on upside down, which is why they would not lock in place.
and here is the shelf partially filled with the load i brought. i'm glad that there's still a lot of space and that the smaller "wooden" thing is still empty, as i have much more shit to bring up.
here are some photos of what's left to deal with in the used-to-be game room...
in the first photo, this side of the room is almost bare. the electronic drum kit will be moving into the living room. this was an argument i won with my wife because there's no point in moving the kit to the studio where my real drum kit is. how will i record on-the-whim demos, or get my rocking out fix?
luckily, this day bed is staying in the room. and about 90% of the stuff on the bed is for our little princess. there's also two guitars (mine) and a wedding dress in a large white box (not mine).
this clusterfuck is the side of the room that i haven't really touched yet.
i've decided to stash a small group of favorite handhelds and keep them home. wife does not and will not find out. shh.
what's next...
once i post this blog, i'll be cleaning up a few spots in the front room so i can fit the electronic drum kit and also that huge black shelf which is housing a lot of CDs, DVDs, and games. since my entire CD collection is digital and i have a lot of favorites on vinyl, the CDs will be boxed up and sent to the studio. the Wii games are going as well, since i have them all ripped to an external HD which is connected to the Wii. the NES/Genesis/SNES/N64/PS1 are also going to the studio. the Wii/Xbox360/Saturn/PS2 will stay home and be connected to the tv in the living room.
well, time to get off my duff and make some more progress.
***UPDATE***
the drums are all moved and set up in the front room!
so now the baby's room is a tiny bit emptier!
