You need to go to an event. At PRGE I sat in the hallway for less than an hour one day and got 100+ StreetPass hits. Almost as much again when I went to CGF.

 

It also helps if you complete a puzzle when you meet people as coin usage will never buy a piece for a completed puzzle. As such, whenever I get StreetPass hits I first look for pink pieces (since you can't buy them). If they don't have any pink pieces, I trade for a piece on a panel that's closest to completion.

 

Another thing is there are Nintendo Zone locations across the country that facilitate StreetPass - they cache miis so you'll get a bunch of hits. There's one in the Barnes & Noble I frequent via their AT&T WiFi hotspot.

Was running errands during lunch and stopped in at McDonalds since the McRib is back. Their WiFi hotspot has Nintendo Zone and netted me 4 StreetPass hits.

1. The airport.

2. Yup, McDonalds.

3. Any gaming event (Video Games Live, OVGE, et cetera).

4. Believe it or not, CHIKARA pro wrestling.

 

I may have said this in the video but my strategy is to get all the NON street pass pieces, then go back for the pinks when I do pass people. If you complete the borders you'll never get another piece for that puzzle, even if all the pink pieces are left.
