Missile Command?

I'd like to see a game where you had to defeat the W.O.P.R., and stop it from starting WWIII. That ties in more with the theme of the movie than nuking cities does.

 

You'd have to defeat a series of mini-games, played against the clock (using the movie's launch code "countdown"). These would be games left behind by the original programmer (like Tic Tac Toe was in the movie), and you'd have to beat each one before gaining access to the next level of the system. After defeating the final mini-game, you'd have access to the W.O.P.R., and then would have it play the final game (Global Thermonuclear War) against itself - but your goal would be to make sure it ended in a tie (perhaps some sort of reflex game where you had to keep its operating parameters within a certain range, or one side would "win", and you'd lose).

 

The GBA version of Tron 2.0 had some nice mini-games in it that were centered around gaining access to parts of the computer system. So something like that.

There was a nice version of War Games for the Commodore 64. The premise of the game was that you weren't actually fighting a nuclear war. You were playing against the W.O.P.R to prevent defcon 1 before the timer ran out. A fun game, and graphically advanced for the C64.
