The YouTube Subpocalypse for Small Channels

MegaManFan

So in their latest effort to further break what's already broken, YouTube has decided in their infinite wisdom that channels with less than 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 hours of watch time will be stripped of ad revenue partnership, even if they have been long time partners for years. My video game channel currently sits at just over 400 subscribers and it has taken me a good two years to build it up to that point.

Somehow in the next 30 days I have to come up with another 600 subscribers. If I don't then Mistah MegaManFan gets demonitized and even if I reach their magic threshhold of 1K and 4K I have to re-apply for partnership all over again and make sure I meet all of their guidelines, which essentially gates off anybody who isn't grandfathered in before this actually takes place.

I'd be humbly appreciative of anybody here at AtariAge who subscribed to help me out. Even if you only subscribe with an Gmail account you never check or look at, even if you never watch a single minute, any one person who helps me get to that 1,000 threshold helps. The hours part I can work out on my own, but I can't pull 1,000 subscribers out of thin air. For that I need all the help I can get.

I quit YouTube a year ago.

The endless chasing of subscribers and the resulting mediocre content made me hate the place.

I want to create a better video sharing platform...

You can basically blame shitty channels like Logan Paul for the upcoming changes that are about to happen. :-/

Oh yeah. Logan Paul is a scumbag gross human being.

It's not about logan in the least, it's about limiting the voice and growth of up and coming competition, and the enactment of a dare I say social agenda. This ball started rolling give or take 6 years ago.... look at when down voting, and I can see it but your can't started to occur. Certain videos just wouldn't be found in searches etc. Once the base gets it to the tipping, they eat some of that base, as they are no longer needed it's done without a care in the world. Google doesn't find what you ask for anymore, it just leads you to sites they want you to see or buy from, or to support whatever the cause they got going on, YouTube and twitter have gone the same way... steaming piles of sh*t...
