Really? My '*New* Nintendo 2DS just has this flap you unhook and then you pop the card out and that's that, next to the game card slot. The two systems look similar just with the lack of 3D.

 

It's a simple slot of the 'push down, lock, push down again, it pops up'.

 

EDIT: Actually nevermind, this is the XL model. The XL model has that door like below. The regular/standard probably does not.
