Scooba!

SpiceWare

A while back I picked up a Roomba vacuum cleaner that was on sale over at Woot!, and have been very happy with it.

I hate scrubbing floors and decided to get a Scooba Floor Washing Robot with my tax refund. I was quite shocked at how dirty the water was after the first time I used it as the floor didn't look that much different. I do notice a big difference in how the floor feels though when walking on it in bare feet.

I am lazy too, but I really doubt that thing can really clean my cork floors. What do you think? Also I read that, unlike the vacuum cleaner, this one has to be charged and started manually. Is that true?

I've not seen a cork floor but I suspect not, it's for use on water proof floors. You can use them on wood floors provided they're sealed.

That's correct - Scooba's power connection is covered with a rubber seal to keep water out of it. You have to pop it open to plug it in, or use an external battery charger like my unit came with. There's no way to schedule it either, but I've never used that feature on my Roomba so it's not something I miss.

You'll be happy with your purchase. I've been using my Scooba for over a year and it still works great. In fact I just ran it today on the kitchen. Well worth the money.

Make sure you do the recommended internal component clean up every time you run it. It only takes about 5 minutes to clean the parts. Also, always run a vacuum cleaner or Roomba on the target mopping area before using the Scooba. Otherwise you'll run the risk of clogging the internals with debris, which can cause it to break. I've seen some complaints in online product reviews for the Scooba, but now that I've used mine for a while, I suspect the disgruntled users weren't maintaining their robots properly.

Thanks for the pointers!

I run my Roomba on a 4 day rotation, and 2 of those days it covers the kitchen floor. Since I've already moved everything out of the way for Roomba, I'm planning to run Scooba on those 2 days as soon as Roomba finishes.
