I did not get my speaker hat  I ordered 2 VCS bundles, one was supposed to come with a speaker hat. Atari goofed the order and sent 2 regular bundles. I've emailed them though, so now we play the waiting game.

    • In other news, the compatible devices list has been growing steadily. I'm keeping it updated on the first message in this thread, as well as the GitHub repo and the Tindie page.   This is how it looks as of... right now   Compatibile devices (Tested on as at 2024-09-15)   Texas Instruments TI-99/4A (NTSC and PAL) Texas Instruments TI-99/4QI ColecoVision (NTSC and PAL) Coleco ADAM (NTSC) MSX Casio PV-7 Toshiba HX-21 NABU Personal Computer Powertran Cortex Sega SC-3000 Sord M5 Tomy Pyuuta   Homebrews: Troy Schrapel's HBC-56 Stuart Connor's TM990 John Winans' Z80-Retro The bar for being compatible is quite low. If someone tried it and it worked, it's on the list. 🤣   So far, we haven't encountered any incompatible devices in the wild. I'll probably jinx it now.
    • I just looked at copy of DPANS94, the doc with the 94 standard and found the search order section. I had never looked at that before.  I was referencing the Forth Standard 2012 web site.    Yes dictionary pointers of any specific nature are not in the standard because they are "implementation specific". The standard defines what should happen but not too much about how you would do it.   Is this the code you studied?  It has CURRENT and "SET-CONTEXT" so yes the variable CONTEXT is not exposed in the standard anymore. I might have a doc somewhere that describes the FIG vocabulary system. I am not a fan anymore because its hard to set any arbitrary search order without peaking behind the curtain, so I implemented ALSO ONLY  PREVIOUS   and ORDER to see the order while programming.   You can compare that to the code I fought with for about a week or two before the penny dropped for me. CAMEL99-ITC/LIB.ITC/WORDLISTS.FTH at master · bfox9900/CAMEL99-ITC · GitHub   Happy to answer any questions.
    • Wondering if there is anything in the works to get the 400mini to do more outside of what it was designed for. Like any other types of emulation (atari 2600 or other?)  I like using this mini quite frequently, but I also like when the mini systems can be turned into something.... 'more'.
    • There's been some reporting on the case in the Australian media and it appears that Mitchell isn't even attempting to contest the allegations that he cheated. Instead it's now all about the remarks Jobs made about his lawsuit against Apollo Legend and his subsequent suicide.   Why, it's as though he doesn't want a court to rule on whether he's a cheat at all.
    • Where are these new downloads (and beta versions) available?  I went to https://sdx.atari8.info/index.php?show=en_download_release (all I could find via the main site) and all that is there is 4.49 from (7 Apr. 2020).  I'd like to have the beta versions if possible - I have at least 5 different machines, PAL and NTSC I run SDX on (saw the message about lack of feedback - I did report bugs when I found them).
    • So, I have compiled the prices and this thing is not going to be cheap to build especially with some of the rare ICs like the TMS9900, 9901, etc..   I'm going to let a few people respond to me to find out if it is going to be even wanted now based on these prices.  The below prices are without the USB keyboard adapter.   Kit with Dual Wipe Sockets : $455 USD Kit with Machined sockets   : $490 USD   Like I said it's going to be pricey to build.  And of course, if you want the USB Keyboard Adapter kit it's about another $60 on top of that.   I may be able to get the sockets a bit cheaper as the sockets are from a US source and you can see the price difference between Dual Wipe and machined above.  I know I can get them cheaper via China, but of course that will put probably 2-3 week delivery time extra on those.   The CPU and other hard to find ICs are pricey to get, most of those I am getting from China, but through a reputable source as the ones I have tested from ebay sellers from China have come back as fake, where these from this vendor have tested good as I got one sent to me already.   If anyone wants to walk away there will not be any hard feelings as many of the people that register for this buy have registered for multiple kits and it is not going to be cheap.   I myself was pretty shocked when I saw the end price so that is why I want to put this out there and allow some response.  Remember if one person says no, then the prices I have worked up especially around the rare ICs is null as if I order less the price goes up, so the kit price would go up from what is shown above.
    • are you playing 2600 games on your 400mini?  or is there an actual combat game for the 400?
