Or a whiskey, wine, beer, classic car, milk.  About that last one, if you age that long enough it becomes cheese.

    • You asked “did you also try CFG from 8.14f” ?   I have tried to figure what version I have running when I look it doesn’t say or I’m not looking in the correct spot for the version. I think it is saying version 8.42c if that makes sense… I sometimes can trick the system to recognize when the switch is in the 1000 position to get it to recognize the RAM card but not the disk controller or RS232 PIO card. I have to be good at turning the switch (on the RAM card) on at the right time to capture that moment.
    • Huh? Can you tell who is forcing you to act like this?   BTW: I do not like more of this creeping into our hobby.
    • If you don’t care about box & instructions, I don’t think NES prices are that bad. The good thing about NES is that most carts are loose, unlike Genesis whose hard clam-shell cases means a larger percentage of games are going to be CIB and fetching a premium. Personally, I would just go with a multicart and PDF manuals. If you do want real carts, Nintendo Power did release several Top X games lists, and base on PriceCharting / eBay prices, about half the Top NP games are under $11.   NES titles from Nintendo Power Top 200 Games $15 - Super Mario Bros 3 $30 - The Legend of Zelda $8 - Super Mario Bros (SMB / Duck Hunt) $23 - Metroid $40 - Mike Tyson’s Punch Out $27 - Castlevania  $28 - Mega Man 2 $20 - Super Mario Bros 2 $24 - Final Fantasy  $26 - Kid Icarus $30 - Contra $85 - Mega Man $11 - Tecmo Bowl $15 - Ninja Gaiden $10 - Excitebike $14 - Metal Gear $20 - Zelda II: Adventure of Link $12 - Bionic Commando $22 - Crystalis  $12 - Ghosts’n Goblins $7 - Skate or Die $19 - Gradius $14 - Double Dragon $7 - Dr. Mario $7 - Dragon Warrior $4 - Ice Hockey  $12 - Rygar $16 - Baseball Stars $39 - River City Ransom $20 - Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong Classics) $8 - Duck Hunt (SMB / Duck Hunt) $11 - Wizards and Warriors $9 - Pro Wrestling  $94 - Dragon Warrior III $25 - Mario Bros $4 - Gyromite $31 - TMNT III: The Manhattan Project $19 - Maniac Mansion  $8 - Rush’n Attack   Additional NES titles from Nintendo Power 100 Best Games of All time $12 - Adventures of Lolo $13 - Nonja Gaiden II $9 - Blaster Master $11 - Star Tropics $9 - Shadowgate $7 - RC Pro Am $18 - Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers $125 - Dragon Warrior IV $8 - Goonies II $25 - Battletoads  $21 - Kickle Cubicle $25 - Ultima: Quest of the Avatar   Nintendo Power Best of the Best  - $15 - Castlevania 2  - $34 - Castlevania 3  - $26 - Mega Man 3  - $24 - Duck Tales
    • When did I say it wasn't released?   Atari took the money for the "collectors edition" way before they even offered the standard edition. There is no defending these borderline scam lying tactics by Atari when they knowingly, repeatedly gave false shipping promises to their customers.
    • Honestly, not much at this point. It was added due to an issue with an in-development homebrew.  I just noted it as it could potentially cause a regression (hopefully not). But, just wanted to be clear about all changes that were introduced.   This whole point of this thread is to allow for rapid updates and feedback (which could potentially cause breaking changes). For those not interested in that (completely understandable), it probably makes more sense to stick to the official releases.   Chris.
    • I tried just removing the dip switch block and the LED went out. Didn’t have to remove the 259’s as it went out (essentially just turning off the block does the same thing and the LED goes out)    I do not have a Finalgrom99 but I have a mini memory cartridge.  Would that set the memory space of 4000 to what I would want?  I’m unsure about the process but any suggestions I’ll follow up on it.    TST did run and I have no errors on the memory and on U11 no errors.    i removed the on board 32K chip and ran with the 32K normal card - no change.    im unsure what the 8K DSR RAM chip is.   when I peek at the 4000 space I get this: easy bug menu item ‘C’ followed by the ‘4000’ and a few space bars - is this tell us anything?
    • So I must have made a different mistake somewhere. Thanks.
    • I always admire everyone who take their time to read and try to comprehend a J-Mu topic. And then respond in a constructive way even. I just find it easier to let AI make a visual interpretation of a subject that the master of linguistic thinking has given us.    As I suspected, it's the supreme council of Netherland discussing the merits of the SNES that J-Mu in his ethereal manifestation has brought on display. Of course the conversation yet again degrades into a shouting match of what became first with everyone having their own system of choice and the usual conclusive proof that accompanies any given machine.    I'm glad that the council master, count Paars von Kleindink, has chosen that exact spot to conduct the proceedings. Otherwise we would have too much on display.
    • Audacity Games approached John Van Ryzin. He made the game and showed Audacity. Audacity wanted him to add some more stuff. He got Tennis Elbow from developing the game and could not do what Audacity wanted. He then went to Atari with the game.   Mr. Run and Jump was released on cartridge months ago. The collectors edition is still not released, but the game has been released.
