ngl from what I've heard...the Raspberry Pi 5 has the most underwhelming specs. I would probably recommend a different ARM computer instead.

Long story short, I had a hell-of-a-time with the Pi 400...so I'm not a fan anymore. I'll just buy a Mac instead.

I heard the Orange Pi is linin' up to be a good alt SBC. I mean...they got a keyboard computer model similar to the Raspberry Pi 400...and it's called the Orange Pi 800 iirc.

But a company's performance and financial health can be a relevant concern to a consumer who is interested in the products made by that company.
    • Hi everybody,   If you have your Purple Pico clones in hand, a quick way to test your boards prior to soldering is to run a "blink" demo.   The Purple Pico clones have a green LED hooked up to GPIO pin 25 of the RP2040 microprocessor, which is the same GPIO pin as the "official" Raspberry Pi Pico boards (but NOT the Pico W boards). Any Pico "blinky" demo out there that blinks GPIO pin 25 will also work with these Purple Pico clones.   The blink.uf2 demo is available in the Raspberry Pi Foundation's pico-examples Git repo, however, there is also a direct download link for the file here: https://rptl.io/pico-blink   If the blinking becomes too obnoxious, you can use the flash_nuke.uf2 UF2 file (also from The Raspberry Pi foundation) to wipe the board and bring it back to the "factory defaults".  The download for flash_nuke.uf2 is linked at the bottom of the Raspberry Pi Pico documentation page, it's the UF2 file in the "Resetting Flash memory" section.   To flash a UF2 file to a brand-new Pico: Plug your Pico into a computer using a "power+data" USB-C cable A new drive called "RPI-RP2" should appear; if the drive DOES NOT APPEAR, then you are probably using a "power-only" USB-C cable, try another one Drag and drop the UF2 file onto the "RPI-RP2" drive when it appears When the UF2 file copy is finished, the Pico will automatically unmount itself from the computer, causing your computer to complain that the storage device was not ejected correctly I've also attached the blink.uf2 and flash_nuke.uf2 files to this post, if you don't want to download them from the RPI website and/or GitHub.   Thanks! flash_nuke.uf2 blink.uf2
    • Nah,no thanks! I'm waiting for the purple 💜 one.
    • But, as has been proven over and over on this very board (using the Amico and the Chameleon as evidence), passion and dedication mean NOTHING when compared to competence, leadership skills, accountability, etc. This isn’t a knock on Pdubs since I don’t know him, but I think we’ve seen enough corporate dress-up the past few years.    People made the same argument to support TT… “so passionate, lifelong fan, etc”. Passion without ability is meaningless in terms of corporate turnarounds.
    • @KulorXL He has been talking about how SNES dev has been held back and that his game maker mock ups are practical things that could be done with the hardware if the current lazy and complacent people over at snes dev and elsewhere would just make the attempt.  I know I'm minimalizing and being blunt with that sentence, but if you go back over this year worth of posts, that's largely what it sums up to.  That's how a number of us have ended up on his block list because actual coders or those who can't code (me) but have pracitcal knowledge of the hardware tried to explain how and why things can and can't work with his videos.  He first would be kind of warm and listen as you're at right now, then it would start getting a bit snarky and frazzled, and finally you get blocked when you refuse to accept his world view.  Welcome to the co-opted SNES forums here.
    • I'm terrible at this one @gavvv. Since there hasn't been much play on this game I'm leaving it open for another month. 👍
