    • I dunno the context of this post, but this is the arcade stick I would use to play Street Fighter style fighting game on SNES:   I think that's as good as it gets for playing fighting games on the 16-bit consoles. I envy anyone who actually had this back in the for SNES, because it's top tier stuff.
    • I feel your pain, brother     The single, most honest, but unbeatable answer to the questions above.     @Cris1997XX The "ports" are far more than just ports. They often include alternative sound/music sets. Also, in some cases, code was optimised or shifted to the DSP to run faster, to make the experience better. Apart from that, the games are little works of art. They attest to the fact how skilled in the craft is the author. It must be serious fun being that good. And it provides a lot of entertainment for the rest of us. I don't see why so many people get all worked up about this. On the other hand, CyranoJ and his minions have more than a terrific track record in developing their own games, original and marvelous every one of them.   As for the ports from other systems - that's a toughie. The ST line uses the same CPU as the Jag and that's it. So the code technically executes, but the input does not work and neither does the output. Graphics are fundamentally different between the systems, and so is the sound. So it is all about figuring out what was done on the ST and how to accomplish that on the Jag. That means knowing both systems to the core. And it should answer your question why there are no "ports" from other platforms - you really have to be able to read that (decompiled, undocumented) code quite fluently to even begin to contemplate "just porting" it.   For me this is where I take the hat off to the meister, and enjoy the games.
    • Woo Hoo!   Physical carts and digital ROM files ordered of Turbo and Elevator Action - @johnnywc cannot wait!!!   sTeVE
    • Since we're talking about run 'n' gun games plus ROM hacking was mentioned, I'd think Doom Troopers is actually pretty good at its core, but someone REALLY needs to go in and fix the specific way the controls work in the game. I can't remember the exact thing that is wrong, but something about the moving and shooting, etc, is a bit of a nightmare at times, purely because of how it's been implemented on SNES and mapped to the controller. Actually allowing the player to move, jump and fire, etc, basically just like on Genesis for the most part, while still keeping any extra stuff that's already in the SNES version and mapped to the extra buttons, would make the SNES version sooo much better to play.   Edit: Having quickly checked again, it might be because you can't fire diagonally while moving--totally terrible decision imo--plus the melee attack is a seperate button when it could simply be proximity based and save the clunkiness of having to remember to press another button to activate it, given you're never going to want to use it unless right next to an enemy anyway, plus you're probably always gonna be happy to save ammo when attacking an enemy up close too. I think those were the main things I had a major issue with around the controls previously.   Honestly, I look at that game, see the huge potential there and imagine what it might have been like it RARE had developed it. Just that extra level of flair and polish across the board, from the visuals (particularly the specific prerendered quality of the characters, which could easily look as good as we see in the likes of the SNES Donkey Kong games) to the controls, and this could have been an absolute stunner of a run 'n' on SNES.
    • If Donkey Kong can be licensed, then one of the great 2600 remakes already mentioned earlier, plus for the 7800 release Donkey Kong Remix, which is a greatly expanded version of the original Donkey Kong.  I would even volunteer to do the coding for the 7800 version, which I already have a good start on.  See my avatar.
    • Oooh, I have #12, I wonder how many hundreds of dollars mine is worth?   Odd wording in the eBay description, they keep calling it a "console", not a cartridge.     "This limited edition Atari 5200 video game console is a must-have for any serious collector. Featuring the classic game Gauntlet, this console is a rare find that is sure to impress. With its sleek design and high-quality graphics, it offers a truly immersive gaming experience.   The console is in excellent working condition and comes complete with all the necessary cables and accessories. Whether you're a lifelong fan of Atari or just starting to explore the world of vintage gaming, this console is a great choice. So why wait? Add it to your collection today!   This is a ultra rare game that was created in limited quantities."     Seems like a lazy cut-and-paste job.
    • They are many ways the controller read could be programmed, the pulse width of the blue trace is wider then that of the yellow so unless you were monitoring the wrong point the fact that they are so different is disappointing as it would make comparisons easier. The fact  that is appears to be mostly low is odd as well, perhaps check that channel display setting to see it if is set to inverted.   For next test I would compare the signal on pins 4 & 17 of U18  and then the test suggested by @Zerosquare
    • I am an avid user of my Intellivision and buy ALOT of ROMs    I have not seen this as much in the Colecovision community   Is there a place to buy digital only copies of games?   I am specifically looking for 1942
    • Tracking shows mine in Canada. Probably hung up in customs
