      Today I went to the Doctor,  The lady behind the counter said she'd call me if there were any questions.  Then the questions began appearing on my phone, except they wanted me to put in a code, after looking at the code, I went back and it reset, then sent me a new code (NOPE!)...So I put down the phone and picked up my Hyper Mega Tech Taito Edition Super Pocket and started happily playing VOLFIED til my name was called.  They didn't need all that shit anyway...

        We have 3 or 4 "Urgent Care" places,  where they accept walk-ins and keep Saturday and Sunday hours!

        If you ever need one on a weekend,  try Googling "urgent care Salem OR".  They're usually clinics, not General Practitioners...

        It's been a while,  but when I think of a Doctor's Office,   I think of comfy chairs, Highlights magazines, Free Coffee, and carpeting on the floor,  Oh,  and you know which Doctor you're gonna see...When I think of an Urgent Care Clinic,  I picture basic chairs, and more of them,  Family Feud on the TV (Or something about restoring houses), Wood or tiled floor,  and you don't know which Doctor you're gonna get...Other than that,  They're roughly similar

      Yesterday I found out my Track and Field machine from 1991 is still working just fine after being untouched in storage for years. CRT picture was scrolling at first but it stopped. God I love this game too bad it weighs as much as a fridgerator packed full of lead

        Well, Hell, now that I'm here!
        I was at Player's Choice Arcade, in Myrtle Beach, couple of years ago. Was actually trying to get in shape for a crappy 200k Donkey Kong run, for "overall points", where I score(didn't actually happen, BTW).
        Anyway, while I was practicing some, two different times people came up to the T&F machine beside me, and were "doing it wrong", lol.
        One was a Dad and a teen, other was a couple college age students.
        I walked away from my games, caught them between events, and showed them how to "run with your fingerS" on the buttons, and went back to my game, they would yell about how fast they were going, and far they were jumping, etc, etc.
        I was proud!

        yeah I dont consider myself good at T&F by any stretch of the imagination. When the high scores flashed, it looked like the highest I got was 57k or so. The only world record I achieved was on Hammer Throw, somehow I got 1st place. I think I got lucky with the timing more than anything because I really could never hammer the button very fast.

      There's a reason for that. The staff at VG&CE were older gamers, and had extremely fond memories of The Golden Age of gaming from the early 80's, even having produced a magazine back then called Electronic Games. EGM was the opposite, a sorta "Attitude Era" of gaming mags. Martin Alissi was a kid reviewer at the time.   Who can ever forget VG&CE's infamous "Tales of the Maltese Vectrex "The Game Doctor?

      Lurker turned new poster here. The whole situation is a bit of a bummer since I got both the 2600+ and a Harmony cart for my Dad as a B-Day gift and I'm now having to tell him I gotta flash the whole cart if he wants to play anything other than the 1 game I put on it at a time, but my experience with other communities along with just browsing here at least has me hopeful it won't be a massive issue for long, whether that's Atari doing something pro-consumer with the firmware, batari coming up with some workarounds, or people just hacking and modding the console. Most likely some combination of therein, lol.   I don't regret my purchase (since I didn't wanna get them some AtGames crap and the R77 looked REALLY ugly to me) but I am hoping for improvements. That or I'm gonna have to get some bootleg dipswitch cart off of ebay/etsy too. Either way neither have gotten here yet so I can't fully attest to how tedious it may be.

      Arcade: Giga Wing - 10 min.   SNES: Barbie Vacation Adventure - 10 min. Cool Spot - 5 min.   A bit unusual choices for me. While I didn't play any games of my own intention this week, we had a Christmas party to which a friend of mine had brought a device with 30,000 pirated games, ranging from a handful Atari games, via Famicom, Super Famicom, Game Boy and Genesis to arcade ROMs. We played a few different ones, and the above ones were the ones I bothered to take notes what they were. Apparently the Barbie game origins from a leaked prototype as the game never made the market, and while I'm definitely not in the demographic for the game, it had some interesting elements like jumping over rivers, shooting (pictures of) animals, finding hidden presents etc. The last part felt a bit like Impossible Mission minus the robots.

      X2 and 3 use special chips though so I have no idea how easy it is to reproduce those. The demand would certainly be there for them versus X1.

      Mappy, Draconian, and any other games that use the DPC+, CDF(J) bankswitching schemes utilize the capabilities of the ARM chip, specifically the one used in the Harmony Cart.  The ARM chip used in the UNO Cart and PlusCart is not quite compatible (different memory layout).  To the best of my knowledge, no one has yet completed writing the the drivers necessary for supporting the games.   If you want to play those games, your current best option would be to get a Harmony Cart.

      I mean, you can run games directly off an SD card using a R77, so there's not much point in using a Harmony cart on it. I always assumed that's part of why getting Harmony carts working on a ROM dumper was never much of a priority until the 2600+. Because if you were using an FPGA system or Retron there'd be no point in getting a flash cart. Not that I'm saying it can't/shouldn't be fixed, just that it was never really a priority.

      LOL, I guess "never do hardware again" is one answer to the question of what Atari should do in the future.  🙂  As you can tell from the initial post I hope they don't take your advice but continue to iterate on a what I consider a bit of a good foundation.  No doubt, you can make a case I can't deny that Atari has gotten a lot wrong with their choices over a long time though.   On the subject of the MyArcade devices, to me those are more like flashbacks.  They are "Atari toys" and since they are licensed devices they are off the topic I was considering.  I don't know if Atari tries to drive the development of such things or even have a say in like the quality standards of such third party products like those?  If they are fun and functional I do think they are worth $70 or $80 (equal to about $20 1980 money) for a certain type of nostalgic look back on Atari.
