Borrowed a bunch of Gameboy Advance cartridges from my brother today to test my pinky Analogue Pocket. Nope, not Hello Kitty. But Out Run for Sega Arcade Gallery couldn’t have been a better match!
Just need those Miami Vice clothes and its as 80ies retro as it gets.
And it works wonderful - brilliant screen, 1:1 perfect cart-reading-running.
      What a retro-handheld monster-machine!!!

OMG I just became friends with Danny DeVito last night lol!! And his wife Rhea, they're so nice. Also still meeting William Shatner in a few months! 💥,and next week Eric Burdon of WAR will be talking about his memories of John Lennon on my podcast.
      1. ls650

I think if I had an interview with William Shatner, I'd be more interested in asking him about his suborbital flight with Blue Origin than anything with Star Trek.
      2. GameGirl420

yea of course thats a more interesting question than Star Trek..but I need to also ask him if he ever played the Star Trek arcade game
      3. SpiceWare

I've been rewatching Taxi from the start and am currently in the middle of season 2.  While I knew Danny DeVito starred in it, I forgot Rhea Perlman appeared in a number of episodes.  She's shown up twice so far as Zena Sherman, who ends up as Louie's girlfriend.
My rewatch is currently paused as my OTA recording of the next episode, Guess Who's Coming for Brenish, was messed up.  It's the first appearance of Carol Kane as Simka Dahblitz.  Reruns on Catchy Comedy (originally Decades) are currently wrapping up season 1, so my next recording of this episode should occur around the end of December.
      4. SlidellMan

I like Danny DeVito, and consider Death to Smoochy one of my favorite films.
      5. carlsson

You should print a full body cardboard cutout of yourself and send to Danny DeVito.

Five years cancer free.  Coincidently or not, it was five years ago that I discovered AtariAge and rediscovered the Atari 2600.

Congratulations on the Five years. Pray that you’ll see another 50! 🙂
      3. GoldLeader

Congrats on that!  It's no easy feat.  I have a friend who is still undergoing treatment but has largely beaten cancer as well;...It's all so Amazing,... He'd had Stage 4 and it had spread, and we often hung out thinking it was the last time we'd have the crew together.  Nice that you found AtariAge and rediscovered Atari too
        Keep on Keepin' on!
      4. SlidellMan

Congratulations on being cancer free for five years. My neighbor beat prostate cancer years ago and still has to have check-ups.
      5. MateusSolo

Congratulations! News like these make my day. It also makes the whole Atari universe a happier place, because you're such a great programmer and game designer. Here's to another (include desired number) years!

    • Not sure what you mean by "386 BIOS and 2m"... As far as I know if it is a Mach64 and ISA it works... The DAC might make a difference and you can look it up from the driver's page: https://silicon-heaven.org/atari/nova/MegaSTE/Mach64/   I think I do have a spare one that I was using in my TT. If interested DM me and I will open da-drawer-of-tt-hardware to check if it is still there.
    • Upgrade your space shuttle to 48K...
    • Thanks for the advice; had not thought of either of those. K-R.
    • Hmmm, weird. Don't have any other idea right now that doesn't require using an oscilloscope, sorry.
    • Go for it. The point I had for putting it out here was so that people would use it.   BTW, I also recently made a translation of Ostrowski's articles on the TB compiler.
    • Yup. That's pretty much it! You plug in a physical cartridge (way more cartridges today than a RetroN 77 supports, even before the 2600+ gets its first update) and it works. That's pretty much the whole experience!   You're wishing for a vinyl record player that is mostly about playing FLAC files, because hey, they're both audio, right? It'd be very cool to be a generic ROM player, but a niche limited market and they're trying for a (near-)mainstream hit with an inexpensive price point.   And don't count out what the community might do. They've clearly left plenty of footprints in the snow to allow "hackers" to add functionality.
    • The 3D-printed carts you used to have were amazing.
    • I've fought and prevailed over WinCUPL.  The Recognizer PLD compiles. WinSim isn't crashing, and  20 test vectors pass.  Very close to . To get WinCUPL to run stably, I tried very short paths. Hint: all Atmel example filenames never exceed 8.3.  Welcome, RECOGNIZ.pld!  We're calling from 1998!   Learned: field MSB=[A15..8] as a signal lets you type hex addresses in the test input file. Bad: WinSim GUI from 1989 Good: commented vectors & MSG in your input .si, then rely on .so output file:   Ugly: pretty much anything about WinCUPL.     Input:   ORDER: MSB, NYBBLE, S2_FAULT, A3, GPL, MDOS, R_W, !DOP, !MMIO, !E_PAD, OUTS; VECTORS: '84' '0' L01000LHLLL /* GPL SOUND WRITE */ $MSG "GPL SOUND WRITE";     Output: 0013: 100001000000L01011HHLLL ^ [0019sa] user expected (L) for MMIO GPL SOUND WRITE     Vector 10 is GPL WRITE PAD.  It sees a hole at 8300 with RAM shining through.  E_PAD* signals that a RAM hole exists.  A FAULT can also be raised if the CPU is supposed to react to changed data.  FAULT is how I implement the map registers and GROM address, in software. FAULT = !MMIO & S2_FAULT.  (Outputs S2,S1,S0 are multiplexed, saving 3 pins!)  The only FAULT=1 state here is 11, GPL MAPPER WRITE.
    • Hey, thanks, everyone, for the encouragement!   Still making progress.  Big job of compiling and testing Recognizer PLD, which glues everything together.   More work on reference card!
    • Consider a stand for your phone as a camera and free editing tools on the web. You could go total guerrilla AV until and unless you have monetization to fund other equipment. It'll make anything you experiment with more real and easier to connect with. Make the goal your content, not your gear and not money, and you'll have fun and maybe bring some people some happiness. Even if it doesn't work out, you'll have had some fun.
