S1500
Let me guess, Atari will be re-re-re-releasing their games library on the Playstation 4, Xbox 720, Nintendo Wii2, Nintendo DSI4D(which will probably be in 9 months), up until the end of time?

+Nathan Strum
Well... it's a start. But seriously, no Quantum? No Rampart? Those games are practically tailor-made for the iOS.

+FujiSkunk
Well... it's a start. But seriously, no Quantum? No Rampart? Those games are practically tailor-made for the iOS. Rampart was put out by Atari Games, which whoever owns what used to be Midway now controls. That appears to be Warner Brothers, which is a tad ironic when you think about it. This collection is coming from (directly or indirectly) the modern-day Atari, which holds the rights to the Atari Inc. and Atari Corp. stuff, but not anything by Atari Games. Quantum is a possibility, but since it hasn't made any of Atari's classic games collections released before now, there may be other issues holding it back, or just plain lack of interest. +Nathan Strum
wheres crazy climber The same place as Berzerk, Pole Position, Galaxian, Ms. Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, Space Invaders, Defender, Joust and others: they were licensed from other companies, so Atari would have to pay to re-license them for this compilation. True... forgot about the split library. But still... Quantum would be perfect on the iPhone, and after all if Math Gran Prix is in there... Dino
How can some of these be played wihout a joystick?
Mirage
Probably on-screen joystick & buttons like most iOS games (that aren't motion-sensitive).
JeffVav
How can some of these be played wihout a joystick? Like this: http://www.ionaudio.com/icade But, yes, there is an on-screen joystick area. 2600 games are viewed in portrait mode with the controls on the bottom part of the screen. Mirage
Probably on-screen joystick & buttons like most iOS games (that aren't motion-sensitive). I know, it's not ideal. It's not as bad as it sounds though. I have had no problem with it anyway.
JeffVav
BTW, I know this wasn't everyone's #1 burning question, but, yes, the SwordQuest comics are in there.
+Nathan Strum
Bought it. Did a write-up on it in the comments of this blog entry. Overall impressions: The emulation is good. Seems very accurate, and silky-smooth. The controls are hit-and-miss, depending on the game. Some games just don't translate well to touch-screens. The arcade games fare better than the 2600 titles, because many of the strongest 2600 titles just aren't there (due to licensing costs, no doubt). I bought all of the games, but I'm sure I'll never play most of the 2600 ones. If there are just a handful of titles you like, just buy those packs at 99¢. It's still pretty cheap. They need to make the controls more user-adjustable, both in terms of layout and sensitivity. Game packs from third-parties would be great. The 2600 box scans are from AtariAge, but I didn't see any mention of that in the credits.
Master Phruby
BTW, I know this wasn't everyone's #1 burning question, but, yes, the SwordQuest comics are in there. But does it include Waterworld and Airworld?
Syntaxerror999
What... no Android OS version? Its not that android is better... its just not Apple... and Im already enough of a douchebag as it is without owning an apple product to compound it. BAZINGA! Rex Dart
How's the emulation of the vector arcade games?
+Nathan Strum
Vector games look excellent, although I'm on an iPhone 3GS, so the resolution suffers on very small objects. In Gravitar, for example, you can hardly see which way your ship is pointing. An iPhone 4 would likely look better, but an iPad would be best. Games like these were never designed to be played on such a tiny screen. (Another minor gripe - they didn't add the blue overlay on Red Baron.)
