Hi @Farb I finally got my hands on a Juno First tape, this is somewhat elusive. I checked on the A8Preservation site and I can see that a tape image is missing, this isn't even listed there. Please find attached to this post the FLAC for each of the tape sides, its corresponding CAS file (made using a8cas-convert.exe v1.3.1), and an image scan of each side of the tape, together with some screenshots. I made the FLAC files using Audacity. I made sure to select "None" on Dither, under the High-Quality section of the Preferences. I tested the FLAC files using Altirra. Unfortunately, loading the FLAC for Side B fails, although a valid CAS file was successfully generated from it. I hope you list me as a contributor on A8Preservation's Juno First tape entry. If you need anything else, just let me know. Kind regards. Luis. jfirst-b.cas jfirst-a.cas jfirst-b.flac jfirst-a.flac8 points

@electrotrains inspired me with his recent A8Pico Cart project, and I decided to create a new daughter board for the 576NUC+ that would incorporate that as one of four aspects. I introduce to you the NUCplus4... Here are the four main aspects... Additional memory expansion, nearly doubling the original 576K to a grand total of 1088K (512K doubled to 1024K+64K base RAM). Thanks @HiassofT for the original 512K extended RAM circuit, and @tf_hh for further expanding this concept up to 1024K. It adds an ICD compatible R-Time 8 battery backed RTC (based upon the original M3002-16P1 chip which has gotten far easier to reliably source). It adds an SDrive-ng which includes the swap disk feature (rotates-right disk slot 1-4), and allows for hot swapping SD Cards on the fly (thanks @kbr). It adds a 16MB USB flashable high speed Multi-Cart similar to a UNO Cart without the need for an SD Card (thanks @electrotrains). I've tried to acknowledge the main creators of the original hardware designs being integrated into this project, but for the full listing of all those involved in the evolution of these individual projects check out the board's silk screen. And as part of the integration into the NUCplus4, there were several circuit modifications that got made above and beyond the original designs to insure that these four aspects work well in concert, are trouble-free, and hopefully idiot-proof 🤪 And for a future FujiNet add-on, there is an additional pass-thru header provided that breaks out all the SIO related signals, as well as the PS/2 keyboard signals. The idea will be to have this future FN add-on board only do the Wi-Fi related FN activities, sans SD Card socket, and be fully controlled via PS/2 keyboard shortcuts instead of by physical switches. Disclaimer: This board will not support a 'real' cart, nor be usable with the cart version of the 576NUC+, or any other previously offered daughter boards. Today I will be placing a sample PCB order to be sure all is good with the design, and then it will be released on my website thereafter for anyone to use or produce. I will not be making these for sale myself, so please don't think this is a pre-order thread or PM me about getting one6 points

After Action Report. 🙂 After I got the scope out I found there was no Phi2 then no clock pulse at all. Nothing. Looking into the oscillator circuit, one of the two transistors had a bad solder connection. Something else didn't look right so I pulled the crystal and both transistors. I found out the +5 supply to the transistors had a torn land. So, I replaced the transistors, added a jumper for the +5v, and installed the crystal. (I do have a kit to repair lands but these were rather closely spaced so I opted for a jumper.) Now there's a clock pulse and phi2! It still isn't booting. After looking some more, I found some other bad solder connections on capacitors. It quickly became apparent that somebody got a wild hair up their a** and replaced most, if not all, of the electrolytic capacitors. Some of the solder joints were ok and others sucked. So, I re-flowed and repaired the bad solder connections. Still no life. This part took a while. I dug out my 800XL PAL board and confirmed the PAL ANTIC and GTIA are both 100% functioning. With the scope, I noticed A0-A4 looked horrible. So, I spent too much time on a tangent trying to figure that one out. Long story short of it all was that the reset capacitor was twisted and the legs were shorted. The poor computer was in a forever state of reset. After that was fixed, still no life. So, I started checking other signals and found that CAS wasn't working right. After tracing it out I found the 74LS51 socket had a bent contact. (Looking at the socket, the plastic appeared distorted as though something was poked in that connection that shouldn't have been.) Since I couldn't get in to bend the contact back I replaced the socket. The Atari now farts when it boots! But there was still no video. Here it turned out this was my stupidity as I didn't have composite video connected and forget the 600XL only supplies composite video to the jack. After some time troubleshooting that non-existent problem I realized the problem was me and connected composite video. The Ready prompt appeared. One more Atari 600XL back from the dead. 😀 I'll see if I can get good S-Video out of this machine and upgrade it to 320k internally. It still has OS R2 and BASIC B, so that needs upgraded as well.6 points

“Hatred” is WAY to strong of a word, and that (along with calling people haters for disagreeing) is s cheap way to stifle conversation. I thought they were far too expensive, had a dumb concept (it’s rude to walk around in public and force other people to listen to your music, same as people who play videos loudly on their phones in public) and gave off “ask me about my hat!” vibes. They were also relentlessly shilled on here by a guy who was convinced that owning Atari penny stocks would lead him to a life of privilege and wealth, and that he represented a rarified genius that none of us were smart enough to understand (sound familiar?) To sum up…6 points

Thanks I'm going to be testing around 250 original 2600 and 7800 carts in the next week, again concentrating on any I can find that have 'not tested' in the compatibility list. Hopefully they have Dragster there and I will give it a try. 👍 Indeed nice to see solus carts selling well in Australia.6 points

Yesterday...Ben walks into the Atari Age forum Today...."I think I've made a huge mistake" 😂 Jokes aside, it would be cool to test this, I can't see it working tbh but I would give it a try. Maybe the compumate has a better chance of being compatible.6 points

The other lesson* here is not to state your opinion like it's a fact. If you do someone will want to see proof. I would guess that they are not so much demanding actual proof as wanting you to know the difference. PS: Kind of curious what country you're from, if you want to say... *(Aside from everyone should look up "There", "Their" and "They're" and know the difference)4 points

I use my speaker hat nearly every day when I go for walks around my neighborhood. I got it with the VCS bundle at a really good price earlier in the year and I've been quite pleased with it. I've worn earbuds and headphones for too many years so it's nice to not have anything covering my ears and I can actually be aware of my surroundings outside. Would have I bought one without the bundle, no. But I see it as nice bonus that just so happens to be Atari branded.4 points

This is a very pertinent point. I've personally tested myself around 300 original carts. Many carts looked like they hadnt been used in 30 years. A considerable amount, maybe 20% of carts tested would need the cartridge contacts cleaning with isopropanol fluid and a qtip - you should of seen the Embracer archive guys face when I first started blowing carts and trying to wipe them with my finger! Almost all carts out of the 20% that initially failed worked fine after a isopropanol clean. Clearly this is important for people to note when trying out a old dusty box of carts from the loft that havent been touched in decades.4 points

A new release (v0.9.2) is now available (VSCode and VSCodium) with the following changes: Updated 7800basic to v0.30 (Windows, Linux, macOS) Updated 7800basic keyword, hover and context help lists Added M1 Mac Compatibility (arm64) for batariBasic, 7800basic, Stella and dasm Thanks to Scott Lahteine (thinkyhead) for the M1 Mac Compatibility for bB, 7800basic, Stella, dasm (generally or close to the most recent versions). This feature may require testing and tweaking to ensure it is working as expected (unfortunately I don't have access to M1 Mac hardware).4 points

I'm so confused. I've followed the Amico and I know Amico games can only be fully experienced with the unique Amico controller. Amico games are exclusive to the Amico console. Nintendo only makes family unfriendly systems. How can this exist? Today I updated generator with some fixes: 0.9.5: -fixed error while displaying very early messages in Z3 stories. -fixed two disk sector computation (leading to error 12) -reverted back to code/data buffer cross invalidation -PunyInform games needs get_cursor opcode, implemented -found serious bug in call implementation - when the number of call parameters is larger than number of locals -slightly fixed font3 in s64 driver Except for the last line, most of the changes are invisible to the user (apart from the fact that some games did not work). The generator now has 85 combinations of options (memory/disk size/z-machine/video driver) and automatically disables those which would not fit into memory. It also warns when the cache for reading non-resident part of story is shorter than 8 sectors, which means that the disk reads would be more or less constant (and thus game reactions slow)4 points

People are just having fun with this because that is the nature of this topic, but here's some serious advice: 1) I wouldn't post any more about what you may or may not do for a Knight Rider project until you have at least some small amount of working code 2) If you DO end up with some actual working code, start your own topic for your own game. I think some of the long time members might find it off-putting to find something actually playable appear in this topic.4 points

Leveraging ProSystem core, JS7800 sources should really be utilized then. There is a plethora of updates to the ProSystem code that makes it perform closer to hardware accuracy, in addition to support of a slew of newer homebrews. Here are some updates to the ProSystem code from just this year alone: - TIA fidelity issue fix (contributed by RevEng @ AtariAge) - Pokey rewrite (contributed by RevEng @ AtariAge) - RIOT interrupt mirror fix (contributed by RevEng @ AtariAge) - Updated palettes (contributed by Trebor @ AtariAge) - YM-2151 default volume level adjustment - Cartridge header fix for television type - Banksets support - Maria background color fix (Keystone Koppers) - Cartridge headers fix (Fixes several ROMs that required special versions) - Improved cycle accuracy (resolves several game glitches) - YM-2151 homebrew auto-detect support - Pokey filter support (contributed by RevEng @ AtariAge) - Support for 7800 Diagnostic cartridge3 points

Throwing it out there...I'm not sure why given you asked for opinions on Recharged games etc., and then got mad if they didn't match your own, but maybe if instead of saying "Try to say something bad about this..." (BTW did you really think @ledzep would find that some kind of challenge?...I can see it now, "Oh, Now I LOVE THAT! How come you didn't show me that before? You were COMPLETELY RIGHT all along! I've been a silly old goose, can you ever forgive me? Keep the video and song recommendations coming! I've got a lot of catching up to do!" ) Maybe if instead, you had said, I see Atari This Way, (and you insert your opinion) and say how you like this song and it reminds you of the Futuristic Dream that you equate New Atari with... Maybe if you did that more often...And also realize, unless something's drastically changed, we are dealing with OPINIONS here. Ya see, having a Universally agreed with opinion, is Very Hard to do. And why would you want to? Wouldn't you rather that everyone has their own opinion and only a few will line up with yours? Differing thoughts make the world go 'round! Would you really want a world where everybody thinks the same? (Wasn't that the key thing that made you hate The Borg? That they were an affront to individuality and Free Will...and different opinions?)3 points

Just got a call from Kerri Green,Goonies actress tonight!! She's appearing on my podcast in a few weeks. Can't wait to ask her if she played Goonies II on NES or not lol. Right now I'm also shopping for a new Arcade1up countercade. Leaning towards either the Galaga 40th Anniversary edition or Marvel Super Heroes. 🐱3 points

I've been asked about the Scotty reference; here is the relevant clip from Star Trek The Next Generation episode Relics. I have fond memories of meeting Mr. Doohan at a Gencon convention in Milwaukee, where he stayed 45+ minutes after closing to see all of us who were still waiting in line to meet him. I have the card and photo he signed that day. Such a gracious person.3 points

No debate - it sucks But - to make it as annoying as possible, play it full volume through a Speaker Hat. You will have all he Atari vibes anyone could possibly want (unless Atari brands a magic wand (tm)).3 points

Nope I talked about it as a flop that lost Atari money. That's great that they are releasing games, but doesn't change that simple fact. Complaining about their shipment issues doesn't instill confidence that it was a success story. It was an unconsole for mothers to more easily get on Netflix. I'm still waiting on the Converse special edition of the VCS personally. It basically amounts to paying more for less. There isn't any killer app, nor does it offer anything above what you can already get or do. Quite frankly I think many people who wanted it cared just about the Atari symbol. If people want to have the company do well they need to have expectations for them to do better. I think it was this thread where someone blamed consumers if Atari or AA would go under, and people should just buy stuff. That is a sure way to guarantee getting inferior products, because they know you are an easy mark, and will just buy anything with their symbol on it.3 points

You are quite right on both counts. 1. I was being "formal" with 0>. (well formed expression and all that) 2. The ALIGNED was because the string compiled could be an odd length and my word S, always aligns the address for Forth. It is not needed if you don't compile VDP data with aligning. I am noodling on how to make the encoder side in Forth. That's seems to be a bit trickier but I think I can get something going.3 points
