If you can tape that time, you'd be the 2nd fastest in the world according to Twin Galaxies. (current first place is 5.51 seconds by Todd "Mr. Activision" Rogers and second place is shared by 4 people at 5.81 seconds)

Atari-Jess.. try this URL: http://mirror.apple.com/Mirrors/Apple_SW_U...rican/Apple_II/ There's more at mirror.apple.com.. I think there's an archive of Apple II stuff called Asimov somewhere.

Speaking as the holder of one of the top 10 scores for Yars' Revenge for the 2600 on Twin Galaxies, I'd have to say that the Gameboy version of Yars' Revenge is too different to be good.. let alone "Awesome". Just the fact that you have to bounce off both sides of the playfield to activate the Zorlon Cannon (just biting a piece of the Qotile's shield will do it on the 2600) combined with the playfield scrolling just gets nerve-wracking. And since the playfield scrolls, you can't judge very well where the Swirl is going to be flying from or when.

Definitely sounds like Night Driver.. though I'm just the opposite of Albert here. I've only seen the sit-down version, ages ago at Golf N Stuff (now Castles & Coasters) near the mini-sized kids' games and the air cannon shooting gallery that shoots raquetballs at skee-ball targets.

Zeptari, I'm sure Cart Commander is a great useful program, and I salute Brien King's hard work. However, it simply won't work on my computer.. I've even talked to Brien about porting it to the Mac and he wasn't sure it could/would be done. For right now and the data that I'm working with, a spreadsheet is the easiest way for me to update and work with this list. However, there are some little functions that I've become accustomed to in Excel and Appleworks that just aren't there in Mesa... I'm working around these for now but they won't hinder the rest of the list.

Well, Cart Commander sounds like a wonderful program, however it won't run on MacOS or MacOS X.. and I generally don't have a spare $200 or so lying around to invest in Virtual PC. Still not sure what you're asking about regarding it though.

I'm not sure how you're trying to present the information, though. 2) I think you should include compilations and emulation titles. These may not be "sequels" nor "updated", but the games do continue to live on even through these efforts. 3) I would include as many platforms as you can get information for. In addition to Gameboy, PS1 and PS2 I'd also include Dreamcast, Nintendo 64, PC, and Macintosh. I look forward to seeing this document when you're done! ..Al 1) I'd release it as HTML if I had an easy way to get the info into HTML easily. The thing is, Mesa doesn't have a "Save As HTML" option and Excel 98's "Save As HTML" will not work in Classic.. go fig. IMHO, PDF is almost as platform-agnostic as HTML and shouldn't be a problem for anyone except maybe WebTV users. 2) That's my feeling too... just trying to get an idea of the work I'll need to put into research. 3) I think I'll work on getting more done for the GameBoy and Playstation flavors before expanding. The real trouble is reused names thrown on different games. (For example: Sentinel for the 2600 and 7800 is a way different game than the Sentinel game that the PS1 game Sentinel Returns is based on.. though I think I had a copy of Sentinel for the ST)

I'm working on a spreadsheet of Atari remakes.. games that were once on Atari systems and are enjoying a longer lifespan with sequels and updates. What I want to know is what would everyone like for this list.. here's some questions I'd like feedback on: 1) Should I release the spreadsheet in its original spreadsheet form or should I make it into a PDF? (working in Mesa for OS X, which will make Excel-compatible files also and PDF creation is as simple as printing on OS X) 2) Should I include emulation titles? ("Arcade Classics" compilations and 'Activision Classics') 3) What current platforms should I include? (Currently, I'm tracking all Gameboy flavors and the PS1 & PS2)

There are two 5200 emulators for MacOS X: Atari800 (the name threw me at first too) and Jum52. For other systems, Richard Bannister has done an exemplary job of Carbonizing the majority of his port repertoire and other authors are following suit. All of the MAME variants for the MacOS are Carbonized also (MacPacMAME, GeoMAME, CPSMAME). Emulators will run in Classic provided they don't access the video card hardware directly to accelerate video and don't access the keyboard/other input directly for keystrokes and button presses.

Phoenix.. here are two URLs that you need to have if you want emulators for the Mac... http://www.emulation.net .. this is John Stiles' site, he does several ports from IBMs but has been busy at his day job at Blizzard a lot lately so others have been updating the site. It's good for everything. http://www.bannister.org/software .. this is Richard Bannister's site. He does many ports from IBM/Unix sources and updates frequently (often putting out 5+ updates at a time) As for the 5200 specifically, there's Jum52 (ported by R.Bannister, Carbonized for MacOS X), Rainbow (shareware that hasn't been updated in over a year, Classic only), Atari 800 (ported by D.Ledbetter, Carbonized for MacOS X), and MacMESS (classic only).

A former coworker had a beta copy of XP and showed me one if its more interesting features. Select a program and hit Alt-Enter to get its properties.. one of the new options is to run it in one of several "compatibility modes". Programs that you're having problems with may work if you select an appropriate "compatibility mode" rather than having XP try to figure it out by itself.

I say include them and create an "H" rarity icon for Hacks (like P for Prototype and M for Modern releases). Include links from the hack to the original and vice versa.

i cna't remember the name to this game

I believe Ian is talking about "Agent USA" for the Atari 8-bit computers -
updated arcade classic's on PSX list?
Wntermute replied to Zeptari's topic in Modern Gaming Discussion
Actually, this might be a fun list to keep track of.. I can think of a few PSX-ized games that appeared on Atari consoles before appearing on the PSX. A couple from the Jaguar come to mind (admittedly, not much is changed on a couple): Bubsy (Bubsy 3D) Doom Dragon's Lair Iron Soldier (Iron Soldier 3) Myst NBA Jam: TE Syndicate Theme Park Worms (Worms: Armageddon) Among others: Breakout Pitfall (Pitfall: Into The Jungle) -
Well, my collections fall into three categories: anime, toys, and video games. Anime: Mainly DVD's of series I like (Neon Genesis Evangelion, Tenchi Muyo, Sailor Moon) and some VHS tapes of stuff that I haven't found DVDs of yet or aren't available on DvD. Toys: Maily Star Wars stuff from 1995 on.. the 4" stuff, not 12". Also in there are McFarlane's anime figures, Farscape, and Speed Racer. Video Games: I have many subcategories in here.. the systems I have are quite an eclectic bunch.. Atari 7800, 200, XEGS, Jaguar w/CD, Atari ST, Nintendo NES, SNES, N64, Commodore 64, Vic-20, Coleco Adam (thx JagDiesel), Playstation 2, and Sega Dreamcast. I also get games for my Mac and am working on a collection of RPGs for every platform here.

I'm just wondering if they're going to redo the cover art for MX-Rider . The MX-Rider ad in the Nov 2001 issue of the Official US Playstation Magazine doesn't have the Atari logo on the box shot... BUT.. the red area that has 4 screenshots on the left side (it's a 2-page ad inside the back cover) DOES have the Atari logo.. as the first A in "ATTACK" .. and there's no mention of the Atari Fuji in the fine print on either page.

It is absolutely possible.. I have a $20 Pelican S-Video switchbox (look near the Playstation 2 stuff, it's in a "PS2 blue" box) with my Playstation 2, Dreamcast, Jaguar, and Nintendo 64 conencted to it. The output feeds into my VCR, which also has my 4-port 5200's funky switchbox and a cable-ready manual switchbox connected to it for my 7800. I have several systems "on deck" with this setup.. since I can just move the video cable from the N64 to the SNES, I can quickly switch between the two.. and just moving the RF cable from the 7800 to my Intellivision, NES, or XEGS I can have those ready quickly too.

How about "The Atari Tempest" (borrowing the original meaning of tempest: a raging storm)
-
AFAIK, real Pluses can run System 7.0.x (prolly 7.1.x also). So a GCR with Plus ROMs (maybe even with SE+FDHD ROMs) should be able to run System 7. Any real limitation would be on the ST side where storage concerns begin to pop up. I know a friend of mine used to program on the ST and even came up with a resource fork parser that would check a resource forked file and extract the ICON (1-bit 32x32 icons w/ mask), icl8 (8-bit 32x32 icons, using the ICON mask), and other assorted useful Mac resource types. Back then, we were both in awe of the vast information resource that was Inside Macintosh.

So would Sean Kelly's 256-in-1 multicart count as nothing (since it's a modern release) or count as 1 of each game that's on it?
-
Will there be a copy of this spreadsheet made available so everyone can check their "ranking"? I'm rather interested myself.

Actually, the 6 entries mix 3 label styles and 2 BOX styles.

Empire Strikes Back : Does a SW Theme PAL version exist ?
Wntermute replied to khryssun's topic in Atari 2600
Maybe it was a PAL copy of Jedi Arena.. I believe the SW theme plays on that also. -
I know this has been answered somewhere else around here. The reason the Sword Fight and Sea Battle ROMs are not here is.... they're still in production by their legal copyright holder Intellivision Productions.
