Actually, if I remember correctly.. the Atari.com domain is owned by Hasbro Interactive, which is now a part of Infogrames. The process of combining company assets, Information Systems & Public Relations departments (which would both have a say in an Internet presence), and other corporate-level rigamarole is what's holding up a site overhaul at Atari.com, HasbroInteractive.com, AND Infogrames.com. In fact, if you look on all three of those sites, you won't see a mention of the PalmOS games that were noted in the news here a few days ago.

Actually, my TV is quite forgiving about 50Hz signals.. I put a PAL 32-in-1 cartridge into my 7800 and the only problem I had is the picture starts farther down than normal so the bottom's cut off. Since it was mostly Atari and Activision games, not much is lost on the Activision ones (where the Activision logo usually is) but Sky Diver is unplayable since the targets are off the screen.

You fix Inty's, Diesel? Cool.. I got three Inty's laying around.. one has a bad controller, one won't work with most of my games, and I haven't had the time to test the other one. I know the store at 45th and Thomas has a bunch of retro systems. The one by me just has games (with loose Colecovision ones mixed in with the loose 2600's ) I haven't been to the one in Mesa. Speaking of local game stores.. I know the guy who runs Gamers too. I used to do freelance Mac consulting and have fixed his PowerMacs at the store and his house in Carefree. I used to rent from the store at 32nd and Greenway til they moved to 7th and Bell.

I live up near PV Mall and there's a Games + over at Tatum & Thunderbird. That store has an interesting history. It started as a kiosk named "Sofware" in Thomas Mall (remember that place? it's not there anymore) then moved over to 40th and Thomas then moved back over there the mall used to be (now a shopping center anchored by Fry's, Target, and Costco). Then they expanded to Mesa and later changed their name to Games +. It was started by a guy named Renny Mitchell and is operated by Renny's son, Renny Jr. My dad actually used to wotk with Renny Sr. at Motorola. heheh

I don't think thy sell them online, but there IS a shop around the corner from me that has a bunch of shrinkwrapped 2600 games (they're asking $10-$30 ea for boxed 2600 games with & without shrinkwrap)

I'd say port some games over from the 8-bit that would benefit from the analog controls and/or need a new lease on life. (hmm.. would MULE work?)

Yes, I'm sure it was the backlight.. after about 10-30 minutes of use, it got warm to the touch. And the other reason the GBA doesn't have a backlight is simple: It gives those 3rd party add-on people another gizmo to repackage and sell as new.
-
I think they may have used a different backlight in the Lynx 2. I had a Lynx 1 and used the bulk AA's you could get at Price Club/Costco, and the backlight would overheat the batteries to the point where they'd leak. I switched over to using just an AC adapter after that happened.

Well, being the world record-holder for Mines Of Minos, here's my scores for it: Current recorded score: 980 Current verifiable score: 1220 Current highest score: 1830

I would just like to add my $.02 and tell Dan that I think it's wonderful that he decided to move over to MESS. I'm an avid Mac user and it irks me everytime a new emulator is announced for "the dark side" with no ports announced (or more often, impossible to make due to assembly and DirectX code) for the Mac.

Do you remember the day you discover atari emulation ?
Wntermute replied to khryssun's topic in Atari 2600
I remember I first got into emulation through MAME. But then I found the Activision Atari 2600 packs, so I got them (unfortunately at the time, my computer wasn't up to the system requirements.. the installer even refused to install the games!) Now, I have almost a complete collection of every emulator on the Mac (there's a couple I won't get like the Vax simulator and a couple obscure computers). ^_^ -
Does anyone know for sure how many games were made for the J
Wntermute replied to ATARIPITBULL's topic in Atari Jaguar
From the listing in the Jaguar FAQ, there were about 75 games released. Another site I found recently lists another handful of unreleased titles and several "homebrew" titles, bringing the total I'm tracking to 88. -
BTW.. in the original book, it was M&M's.. but I guess M&M/Mars didn't want to foot the tie-in.

According to Andrew Kreig's list that Alex pointed out in another thread.. Yes. There was a Dark Chambers cartridge made that requires 64K RAM to run.

Here's the latest status update from the Bliss site ( http://bliss.emuviews.com/ ): "Work continues on the Atari 5200 emulation. I have most of the video modes implemented, but I still need to add support for player-missile graphics and input before I can make a release. No word yet on how long this will require or when a release will be forthcoming. Sorry I don't have more info for you, but I've included some screenshots below for your viewing pleasure. By the way, does anyone out there have a complete list of memory maps for each of the cartridges that were available for the Atari 5200? I've noticed that most of the Atari 5200 emulators that exist today use default memory maps for each cartridge depending on the size of the cartridge ROM, but I know that there were often variations from the "standard" memory maps. If I'm shooting for high compatibility, I'll need that memory map information. If you can contribute any of this info, please feel free to email me. It would be much appreciated. Now on to the screenshots..."

I have 4 cartridges (probably more with minor {r} symbol differences) that could be added if you'd like.

I was going through the games on the 32-in-1 cart I got from a guy in Australia. The screen doesn't roll like I was warned about, but the screen is shifted down an inch or two. I didn't get a manual with it, so I don't know the names or order of the games. The games seem to be mostly Atari and Activision titles (plus US Games' Space Jockey).. but what is the name of that Freeway clone with the rabbit? Freeway's also on the cart, so I doubt it's just an international-only version of Freeway for chicken-worshipping cultures. (Imagine sending Stampede or Pressure Cooker to cultures that worship cows!)

DOS command lines don't understand spaces in filenames unless you put quotes around it (which is saying "this is really the name of one thing, not two or more") So the correct command line for Mountain King's original name would've been: 5200 "Mountain King.bin" -limit or (as DEBRO mentioned) 5200 Mounta~1.bin

Their rationale is that the only reason someone would take the time to fake a screenshot would be to gain the #1 spot.. not #6 or #12. Of course, if someone wanted to badly enough, they could probably solder a potentiometer to a real 2600's logic board to slow it down.
-
Yes, you read right.. more digging and sorting through my collection has turned up TWO games with 1986 copyright dates. They look just like their 1982 twins but use a thinner font (almost like the 1982's used bold and these are plain text). Also, the company name was changed from "Atari, Inc." to "Atari, Corp.". The two games are: Galaxian and Defender.
