  1. Isn't that always the case? You find something good, and by the time you want to share it, it's gone? Yes, that link above goes to a "we're closing because we're too popular for our own good" page.
  2. Could it possibly be Bermuda Triangle (Data Age)? That's the game I thought of from Joel's description. I remember the only place I ever found the game was at a grocery store's toy section of all places (I got Coconuts, Fast Food, and Journey Escape there too)
  3. I myself use the Rarity Guide or Companies options, depending on what I'm looking for at the time.
  4. Yes, Songbird Productions is developing new games for the Jaguar and Lynx. However, their carts are a bit pricey.. what you'd expect to pay for a new N64 game at Sears or KB (or anyone else who likes to add a few $s onto MSRP) http://songbird.atari.net/

  6. Generally, they will accept photographs of the high score screen as proof. However, there are many games where they need the whole game taped (like racing games and Adventure/Haunted House "speed records") Overall, they prefer videotapes, which if you have your console hooked up to any modern TV, all you need is to switch the order of your cables around. Of course, you have to have a game worth taping while you're doing it.. I played a practice game of Yars' Revenge and got over 230K... but couldn't hit a single Swirl while taping.
  7. Wow.. if you sent that in to Twin Galaxies, you'd be in 5th place in the World Records
  8. I just posted the labels I have that are different than the ones here in the Rarity Guide section. Some are little differences (italic/plain) and some are a bit more.
  9. OK, I've gone through my 7800 cartridges and have found the following variations: - Choplifter: Copyright text in plain text (rarity guide label pic is in italics) - Galaga: Copyright text in plain text (rarity guide label pic is in italics) - Hat Trick: Last text line has "CX7829" left-justified and "Printed in Hong Kong" right-justified; end label lacks "CA..." number (rarity guide has "Printed.." on left, CX# centered, and "CA400067-029" on right) - Robotron 2084: Copyright text in italics (rarity guide label pic is in plain text) - Tower Toppler: Last line of text has "Made in China" on left; end label has all black text (rarity guide has "Printed in Taiwan" on left; end label has title in maroon) - Xevious: Label picture's sky is light grey and other coloring/contrast variations, title logo has a drop-shadow, Copyright date is 1987, "Printed..." text is slanted (Label picture's sky is black, title logo's drop-shadow almost completely blended into picture, Copyright date is 1986, "Printed.." text is normal) The thing is, like all of the Atari carts made without connector covers, there's two almost rectangular holes on the label side (which the label covers). The labels on Choplifter, Galaga, and Xevious have these holes punched through as well as the screwhole uncovered. As usual, if you need scans, I can scan them in.
  10. Is there an Atari 8-Bit Cartridge list anywhere? I've started cobbling together part of a list from what I've found offered on eBay and any existing list would be helpful.
  11. Yep, there was.. in fact I bid on one that was up on ebay the other day. Missed out on it (the high bidder outbid my proxy by the minimum) because I had to get some sleep.
  12. Actually, the guys at Hozer Video make copy carts of practically everything. In fact, all the carts that Tempest mentioned in this thread (except Save Mary), are listed as a ROM image for the copy as being available. See the link below: http://www.netway.com/~hozervideo/atari/atar2600.html
  13. A friend of mine (yes, really) was trying to get the ROMs for "Beat 'Em & Eat 'Em" earlier and kept getting 404 errors. Looks like the file's not where it should be.
  14. Actually, I that is a product created by the people behind the Color Dreams titles for the NES. You can find out more about it at this address: http://nesworld.parodius.com/gs-arcad.htm
  15. If there's anyone going to CGE 2001, I'd like to discuss getting a copy of Elevator Action, Combat II, and the Atarisoft Colecovision titles that will be available.
  16. I found a couple label variations.. I'm going to post them in the Rarity Guide section in the morning since I don't have the specifics with me at the moment.
  17. No problem.. I have a couple 7800 label variants I'll note in here in the morning. One is just odd, the other is a date change.
  18. If you look at the blue Ghostbusters detail entry, it's very much broken. (No title, picture, ID numbers, etc.) And the 1987 Realsports Football label more closely resembles the 1988 version (no "Use with Joystick Controller" text).. the 88 version looks like they just used the 87 label and replaced the year (the 88 label introduces a typeset error.. the baseline of the date doesn't match the rest of the line)
  19. Well, I'm watching my son, neice, and nephew.. so they've been giving my consoles some exercise. Here's what's in my Atari consoles now: - 7800: Freeway - Jaguar: Tempest 2000 ^_^ - XEGS: Crossbow
  20. I went to a local game store that carries "retro" stuff, and found a blue-labelled copy of Ghostbusters. Also, a recent shrinkwrapped 2600 acquisition turned up a 1987 copyright Realsports Football.
  21. I've started collecting to rebuild the collection I had when I was younger. I had about 100 carts (plus the big honking Gameline modem cart) and loaned the whole shebang (along with my INTV2 w/ 20 carts and a Genesis w/ modem switch and 5 games) to my nephew. His dad took all three systems to park & swap while my nephew was visiting my parents. That and it's getting harder to find Star Wars toys for a decent price that I don't have.
  22. I found No. 2 on a Hotline site once. "8-Bits Of Power" I think is the name.
  23. I know that MESS has partial A2600 support. I was just reading a post on their message board earlier about integrating netplay features. http://mess.emuverse.com
  24. I just took a look.. the Mt. Dew version was for.... the Atari 2600. You only see the Mountain Dew logo during the "can shaker" bonus rounds.
  25. If the seller had violated the rules, you couldn't even get to the auction page itself. (I know, I had an auction pulled out from under me - I was top bidder - fairly recently).
