  1. Get a SNES Pro Action Replay.. then plug a US cart into the back port and your PAL cart on the top. That should let you play it just fine.
  2. I picked a copy of it up at a Sears, of all places. Pretty cheap too. And yes, I played the OPM demo and liked it too before I looked for it.
  3. I haven't used a Supercharger, but I have had a couple ROMScanners in the past. The idea behind them is good, but they cheaped out on the plastic. If you want to hook it up to a 2600, it'd be a good idea to use a spare 2600 because you'll want to leave it on there. The pegs that hold the legs onto the main chassis of the ROMscanner break way too easily, so you don't want to keep moving it on and off a 2600. That said, once you assemble it, leave it together for the same reason.
  4. $10 gets you the updated disc from InterAct/Gameshark, last I heard. I don't use Gamesharks anymore myself
  5. I still haven't beaten NES Metroid. I've gotten as far as the Mother Brain battle and the combination of the guns, the rings, and the lava kill me every time. I've only been partway through Metroid 2 as well. I haven't ever beaten SMB 1 & 3 either. I have, however, beaten Super Metroid, Super Mario World and Mario 64. It's funny how extra features and better controllers can help a game. And yes, I'm still stuck with the original, boxy NES controllers.
  6. I use IGN's online database... http://users.ign.com/collection/Wntermute
  7. OMG! Heresy!!! The system is OFF!! PS. Cute kids, Buck. The wife's a keeper. heheh
  8. Simpsons: Hit & Run has a Mission Select feature, for missions you've passed (plus the "current" story mission). It's helpful to go to previous levels once you've unlocked stronger/faster cars in the quest for 100%.
  9. MacMESS will emulate a Vectrex, along with many other console and early personal computers.
  10. The whole idea of going back and changing award-winning content to me is absolutely absurd. While we're at it, why don't we make the following changes too: - Remove all references to killing Italians in the Godfather trilogy, Goodfellas, etc. - Remove all references to killing Vietnamese in Full Metal Jacket, Apocalypse Now - Remove all references to killing Germans in Saving Private Ryan and The Dirty Dozen, and U-571 - Remove all references to killing Japanese in Pearl Harbor - Remove all references to killing Iraqis in Courage Under Fire - Remove all references to killing aliens in Independance Day, Predator, and the Aliens trilogy and the most ghastly change of all.. - Remove all references to killing any sentient race in the Star Wars saga When you think about censorship in that context.. who in their right mind would make any of those changes?
  11. That's the hard drive for the Japanese PS2. The Japanese PS2 doesn't have the expansion bay that the American PS2 has, instead it has PC Card slots on the back for networking and storage hardware. That's why their hard drive is external. The American PS2's hard drive will fit snugly in the expansion bay with the Network Adapter (or whatever similarly-shaped device the HD will come with for non-NA owners) covering the bay.
  12. For the sound problem, check Versiontracker.com or Macupdate.com for the program Divx Doctor II. That'll fix the sound problems by converting the .avi to a .mov with properly encoded audio. For the "nonworking" ones, let QuickTime Player open it up. Then view the movie properties. Change the left drop-down menu to Video Track and the right one to Format. That'll let you see the FourCC code of the codec that was used to encode the video. That way you know which codec to look for. (There still are some Windows-based encoders with no Mac decoders though.)
  13. The larger arcade casing for Street Fighter 2.. had 2 huge analog buttons per player.. one for punch and one for kick. How hard you hit the button determined whether it registered as a light, medium, or hard punch/kick.
  14. Virtual girls won't slap you for staring too much or call cops on you.
  15. That's what demos are for.. it was on the OPM demo disc with the FFX2 demo.
  16. ActRaiser was a fun game, and the simulation part really added to it since there are power-ups that you can only get by playing through it. Another title from the same company had similar gameplay to Dark Cloud: SoulBlazer. You'd fight through dungeons to find pieces to restore parts of each town. You didn't get to pick what went where, but it was a unique gameplay element at the time.
  17. The only problem I've had with Romscanners is that the pegs that hold the legs to the device are prone to breaking off. I had 2 or 3 Romscanners when they were new because the pegs on the legs kept breaking and we kept taking them back.
  18. Don't get paid til next Friday And Blockbuster doesn't get it in until this Friday also, so I can't rent it Oh well, at least I have the OPM demo with translated Eternal Calm video.
  19. Indeed.. you know it's going to be an interesting puzzle when you have to figure out a way to channel electricity through your body and keep a charge through a room full of water. And that's not even mentioning the flame puzzles.
  20. I tried the demo.. the mummy levels are odd platform puzzles and the Sphinx levels are about what you'd expect from modern action platformers.. kinda like Haven done right.
  21. Since it has the ESB logo, it's circa 1980-1982, not 1978. The mold itself may have 1978 copyright stamps though. I'd say the item is in C7 or so shape because of the sticker cracks. It'd be worth more CIB.. but then I hang around people who are more into collecting figs than "role play" weapons. Try posting a question in the vintage forums at http://www.galactichunter.com for more detail.
  22. The SharkLink will let you transfer saves from the PC to PS2.. it plugs into the USB port on both ends and comes with software for both sides as well. It was made by Interact, but I haven't heard much about it lately.
  23. Many games released in the GBC era were also SGB-capable. There are hundreds of games that included SGB code and I could even provide a list of which ones had SGB code. However, I do not have any information on what specific SGB features the games had (SGB borders, SGB palettes, SNES code, etc.).
