I own a few Lynx I's and II's. She blew up a Lynx I and I've heard a few other people talk blowing up a Lynx I that way. The power jack and the headset jack are the same on both units. I never heard anyone killing a Lynx II that way but I don't see how it couldn't happen... I'm too paroniod about it. Thats why I made up a rubber plug anyways... I would rather be safe and playing my Lynx then take a chance of smoking one!
-
My wife keeps trying to plug the power plug into the headset as well. I made a rubber plug to go into the headset jack. That way she can not make the deadly mistake!

Harry, If your looking for someone to test play your "pretty poor version of Breakout" on an emulator (or a cart if you have one) I would love to! That's a really fun game! My wife and I loose a lot of hours playing a windows based copy of that game on our PC we found one day on the net. Let me know! Thanks

Sorry I had the name mixed up when I was talking about Marble Madness. I discovered my error yesterday when I was playing with your demo Matthias! Hope ya forgive my mistake Hey by the way, If you do anymore work on it, I would love to be able to test it out for ya! Marble Madness is one of my wife's and my favorite games!
-
I'm sure you all know of this site already, but I am fairly new to emulators.... Emulators

Hey Harry, I don't want to pirate your games, but would love to BUY a released version of your marble madness for the Lynx! When you going to get back into the programming?

Where to find technical information about the Lynx ?
Videology replied to Lord-Chaos's topic in Atari Lynx
The best thing I can offer to you is to get yourself a working unit or two and make a test bed so you can do some side by side testing... Also this will help you as well. You can find some schematics here … http://www.atariage.com/Lynx/archives/sche...tics/index.html And the FAQ has a lot of good technical tidbits for you to chew on. Also check out the list of links listed at the end of the FAQ http://www.atariage.com/Lynx/faq/index.html Note that most of the info you will find is for the original Lynx I model. You will need to transfer what you learn for it and transfer the info over. There are a few technical differences between the two. -
you offering them up for parts or trying to repair them all??? Songbird does repair/replacements

Hi hapsburg, Welcome to Atari Age! Send me an instant message or an e-mail message (videology@yahoo.com) with your particulars! (Location) I will send you a list of my "Extras", but I do not like Batman, so I would be very interested in a trade with you! (If you’re in the USA that is not sure about international) I sent you a private message with my details...

I have recently been givin a chance to tryout Lemmings... What a great puzzle game! It seems to be very simular to (if not the same as) the Amiga version of Lemmings. If you are into puzzle games, give this one a try! Game Object: When the game starts, the Lemmings start falling onto the screen through a trap door. Your goal is to teach various Lemmings a skill to help them get past obsticals and back out the exit door. Sound easy? I don't thinks so! Just like life, this game is full of surprises!

Thanks everyone! I'll try to get pcaewin working again but it seems like Z26 is my next best choice. The problem I was having was that I get one of two error messages... I get an I/O error or it says it can't find one of the DLL files. I'll try unzipping the program again...

In your opinion... What’s the best emulator program out there to play the old 2600 ROM Carts on I have a 60Gig HD running XP on it. Tried running one of the suggested emulation Programs (PCAEWIN) listed on AtariAge, but could not get it working on my PC ... Thought I would get your opinion on a different one before trying to download again... Thanks

I sure do wish I could read this I know it's about the COPIED AvP proto type cart originally on ebay buy CPUWIZ, but I don't know what you are saying about it... Too bad there isn't a translator on AtariAge!

New Aliens v. Preditor "Reproduction" auction on E
Videology replied to bergbros's topic in Atari Lynx
Nothing for nothing, and not wanting everyone to attack me, but I say congrads to CPUWIZ for selling his carts for so much! I don't understand the bidders! No one hid the fact that the carts were just copies of the proto types! As for if it's illegal to be selling these, I ask this... If I buy the original Proto type and choose to make copies of it and sell them with all knowing that they are just copies, isn't that my choice? Am I not the owner of the original Proto type now??? I can understand if I buy a Songbird game and try to copy and sell it, that I am doing something illegal, but what about If I am the owner of the Proto type??? It's also a shame that we pissed off CPUWIZ, because I would have enjoyed trying the emulations of the games (which is also a legality issue which WE ALL do)! To Quote the Al’s about emulations: Is it legal? Yes and no. The emulators themselves are legal, as they are simply reverse engineered hardware. ROMs are another issue. If you do not own the actual game cartridge itself, you probably are not legally entitled to own the ROM. In the case of Atari games, nobody seems to care because they are so old. PLEASE!!! Understand that no toe stomping is intended in what I have said!!! -
New Aliens v. Preditor "Reproduction" auction on E

I sent him an E-mail I hope he will answer. I wonder how is it a "reproduction" and what is the history behind the cart(s) -
Rubber cement would probably by a good choice in glue. You don't want anything permanent or Conductive such as superglue.
-
That's not good... If you broke the main body of the connector, your going to have to do some soldering. They are a pain

Thats right...The flicker is just a discharge off one of the caps. That's why it only flickers for a split second and just the once As for your unit, I bet it's OK... I would try the free game that Nimtene is sending you first before you worry about if the game is working or not! By the way Nimtene, Thats KOOL that you are sending him a free mystry game... What did you do, send him Kung Food???

Great Find for 99 cents! ...and YES, the "on" button, which is just below the amber colored power LED, is slightly recessed. As for what happens when the power button is pressed when there is no game installed... Well I have 3 Lynx II units and I put them all to the test. If I press the off button first then the on button, the power LED will flicker for a split second. I hope this helps you in some small way... As for games, check out ebay! CLICK HERE There is a lot for sell and you can get some games for less then $5.00. Have fun with your find!!!

Here is another Atari Lynx Forum for those of you that can't get enough! http://forums.atari.org/list.php3?num=8 Although, we all know AtariAge is the best there is!

Thanks, but the schematics located here are the same as the ones I have already and they seem to be for the Lynx I. For example, Q12 that everyone seems to have problems with in the power input section is listed as Q11 on these schematics. Seems to be a few other changes between the Lynx II layout and the schematics here as well. If anyone else find the schematics for the Lynx II let us know! I'll keep an eye out as well! Thanks!!!
-
Trying to find schematics for the Lynx II. I was told there are Schematics here somewhere on AA, but I could not find them. I do have some schematics, but they don't match the Lynx II. I figure they must be for the Lynx I models but I haven't verified that (yet).
-
mccamley2002, Did you ever get an answer to what Q12 is? The schematics I have seem to be for the Lynx I. On the Lynx II Q12 is between L15 and R71. I can not read an markings on the one I have. HOWEVER, on the schematics I have Q11 is just off L15 and it's markings are MTD3055E. I am guessing that Q12 took the place of Q11 when Atari made the layout changes on the Lynx II.... Perhaps someone elts can give us both some feed back... Wish I could help more.
