  1. it would be great if ikong made the gamepad to 5200 adapter on a little board . i use the atari5200 faq circuit with only one change i link pins 4 and 5 because the pc gameport spec is that pin 4 and 5 are ground and i ran into a suncom joystick that used the pin 5 as ground and since that discovery i make them all that way i also include a start button that connects 5200 pin 4 and 7 that could easily be a button on the board heck it would cost pennies to have a pause and reset as well then have a jack for a modded 2600 touchpad for the numbers i also made one that was basically a wico y cable and made the pc to 5200 as a wico pinout it gets pretty complicated when you want other options there is another option i had an adapter with a switch that turned joy 1 Y into the throttle slider for use with flight sim sticks (it was fun to use a throttle for pole position high low but really is it worth it to have a switch just for one game ooh another thing is if you use pin 12 for the pot common (pin 9) the system thinks its hooked up to a trac ball and plays games a bit different like normally if you plug in missile command and use a gamepad the cursor will stay in the center then any direction it will instantly be on the walls you release and it zips back to center but when pin 12 is used it will zip over in the direction you press and when you release it will stay over there (like you stopped the ball) a typical joystick is giving x y coords but a trac ball is giving an angle and velocity
  2. i bought one of these cause i like making labels for my commodore 64 it just makes them look 20% more professional https://www.ebay.com/itm/R4-Corner-Rounder-4mm-Paper-Punch-Card-Photo-Cutter-Tool-Craft-Scrapbooking-New/332746927733 for my 5200 i prefer my 30 year old dymo labels they just feel contemporary
  3. i too would like to know what the board is the controllers are so simple all you really need is 2 240k resistors to make a digitial controller of course i like using potentiometers for easy adjustment
  4. neato it just needs a mono earphone jack for an aux button or just a header
  5. thats neat such a compact package i'm so ashamed of my haphazardly constructed adapters that one shown is an older one i think i sold for $10 delivered so $2 of that was shipping -$3 in parts i am not trying to make money i just want people to play their 5200 and stop bitching about their controllers not working i'm not out in the garage breaking up a bike chain to connect the plugs together anymore funny story why i started doing that someone got one of my adapters and said it wasnt working and it besides if keeps falling out of the 5200 well the doofus was plugging the pc controller into the end with the cutt off shield and the end with the metal shield in the 5200 i thought how can i make this foolproof with the 2 ends connected i figured it would be impossible to shove that block into a 5200 well stupid me someone had a controller extension and you guessed it you cannot make anything foolproof cause fools are very ingenious i got 3 more built if someone wants one pm me (sorry i do not ship out of the country)
  6. i hate to let this obvious trick out but i like using a gravis gamepad you set the switch to 2 button autofire hold down the autofire button and just use the dpad as normal
  7. those are my top 3 favorites just for information you can trim the gravis joystick with a small flathead screwdriver if needed its the holes on the bottom and side
  8. i got enought parts to make another 5 but no more silver shields only grey ones and i'll probably not get the silvers ever again gimme a couple weeks cause i am super lazy and striping all those tiny wires is so depleating
  9. maybe another racing type game top view one screen like super sprint or ivan stewart offroad and make it have up to 4 players
  10. i have my own shells is there any discount for buying just a board and a sticker?
  11. shucks i would have loved to test it with various controllers ,wico,pc analog, digital sticks heck i just need the board i can throw it in a pacman dupe shell i'll pay
  12. cool i hope you load up missile command and star wars
  13. only one left some peeps want a manual well there is not much too it here are some helpfull suggestions plug in the joysticks before plugging it into the 5200 (no reason to do that electriclly but to releave any jostling and strain on the 5200 jack insert into 5200 console with care the plug is not an exact fit and slightly puts strain on the pins remove with care as well insert straight remove straight the device works without needing a 5200 controller i get by with most games just using the aux start button the aux start button is a recycled micro pushbutton it can be replaced with any other momentary start button if you should choose to splice another on (for length) the 5200 controller plug port it was motified slightly to accept the locking nubs be aware it may fit snuggly and may scratch the plug slightly i suggest on first use with an analog joystick to play missile command and adjust the sliders to get the crosshair centered when using a gamepad i suggest playing dig dug first to make sure it goes up down left right and both buttons work certain games i have experieced weirdness with popeye sometimes refuses to go down it often corrects itself after a couple power cycles vanguard was acting weird but seemed to fix itself thank you for your purchase of this haphazardly constructed device if you experiece any problems send me a note
  14. all i know is if i wire up pin 12 as the pot common the system switches over to tracball mode i suggest just using pin 9 i'm not sure what its power capabilities are but i would assume under 50 ma
  15. got them done anyone anyone want one pm me for instructions i actually had them done saturday and gave my waitlist adequate opportunity to pay if you bought one and want another go ahead you know what to do
  16. got a bit of work done i do little sub assemblys its so much wire stripping it always drives me crazy i bought 2 automatic wire strippers and neither of them work worth a damn with this wire that i have a spool of so i have to use my crappy jenson with a broken return spring so far i have assembled the aux start button and the 5200 pass through plug and attached the capacitors to the gameport plug still need to strip and tin both sides of the 6 wire cables so 6x10x2 attach one side to the 5200 plug then connect the gameport plug to the other then attach the passthrough wire to the top row attach the start button to pins 4 and 7 then do some plug modifications test them (because my lazyness is closely matched to my ineptitude) probably have to fix 5 of them attach the plug housings round up enough padded envelopes ps if you want to know what order i put the wires on its fairly random like today the first wire i had was splayed out bl,bl-w,o,o-w,g,g-w,br,br-w so thats how the first one was attached then i just copied it over and over
  17. i got the bits all together now but realize i am lazy and easily distracted and my soldering iron tip needs retinning and my bike chain came off the sprocket and i just stepped on a lego so give me more time the female ends are white and of good quaility the shields are shiny and chrome
  18. i just want to let all the people who messaged me that i am working on some adapters i dont want to make a deadline but i think i found a california seller of the plug i needed so it wont take a month like china ones just hang in there
  19. holy shart i found it i mean i guess i'm a retard for not just searching compusa steering wheel https://www.ebay.com/itm/Retro-COMPUSA-Wheel-Formula-One-Racing-Simulator-For-PC-/282249682085
  20. the standard ones made around 1995 and before the ones that need drivers will not work such as the microsoft feedback type wheels the pc standard is joy 1 x,y,b1,b2 and joy 2 x,y,b3,b4 you can often tell the ones cause they only have 4 independant fire buttons i do not remember brand names they were often one off store type brands i had 3 types one with a wire for pedals so wheel was joy 1 x steering spring to center pedals Y up -gas,y down- brake and b1-b4 buttons around the wheel another i had was wheel j1-x 4 buttons and paddle shifters which right was j1y up j1y down was left paddle i think i got that one at compusa when they were going out of buisness ooh i just remembered it had 4 yellow buttons 2 on each side of the wheel the third was the interact ultra racer which was the n64 mold it had a trigger that was pull for j1 y up and pushforward for j1 y down none of them i found very useful and sold them cheap for a pole position modification i guess you would just swap accellerator button for Y up and brake for y down make top button high gear and bottom button low gear since pole position accellerate is just a button it is full on or full off so there would be no analog feel more than 10 years ago i sold a bunch of joysticks on ebay i got in a lot that cost me around $20 for 10 of them ahh they were called the iconcepts avenger these had a side throttle which i opened each removed the return spring then made adapters with a switch that swapped j2 y with j1 y so that you could use the throttle lever as the shifter this was fun because you didnt have to worry about the joy up down movement during play the reason i remember those was becuase i happen to have some passwords written on the back of one of their warranty cards
  21. my oridinal atari 2600 starts out in color but after about 15 minutes it goes black and white and no it is not the color bw switch because when i play ghost manor i can select boy and girl but it goes black and white its probably a dry capacitor or something and i have a JR that i use its just annoying to have something die that was all mine (i'm used to other peoples stuff dying but i thought i kept this in good environment)
  22. yea thats the cbs boards a dog got a hold of my wiz of wor and i just peeled the label and put it on the bare board i had a dead star trek cart and installed it in there with some countersink headers and made a label with the pic of john madden holding the cart so mine is total fake now
  23. ask the buyer what evidence he has that leads him to the conclusion it is fake it may not work due to lousy contact that could be cleaned with an eraser
  24. the insane gauntlet of bats and condors but i gave up 5 minutes into the second cause of the perfection required for jumping the ants
