Lol, thats the only video I have not yet watched. Yeah, I like the I/O slot, be nice if it finds use beyond the Sega CD but guess thats up to Analogue and/or Kevin. The Super NT seemed so minimal after the NT Mini, even though it might never get used I like to see(think about) expansion possibilities.

So was wondering about the tech specs of the Mega SG hardware over the Super NT? Does it have more/less ram, same fpga or newer/bigger? Is much space left over in either the FPGA in the Super NT or Mega SG? Am I right in thinking the audio got an upgrade over the Super NT? Be nice if Kevin could answer but appreciate he might not want to give anything away, I guess others who have taken it to bits might be able to comment on RAM and the FPGA? Thanks.

Thanks, will give it a try.

Yes, I think every PAL game I tried on the NT Mini did run, just the speed/sound was wrong. So yes, technically you could play it but you wouldn't want to. You would assume kevtris will sort this now it's being sold as a commercial project (rather than the freebie on the mini). I'm sure I did ask and received reply from kevtris way back in this thread about the SMS core on the mini.
-
No, speed is way out, unplayable on the NT Mini.
-
Analogues site says it will play PAL and is compatible with mega drive games. My concern is the master system core, as the NT Mini core currently only supports NTSC which is quite a small catalogue of games. Hopefully it will have been updated.

I agree. Another thought is that they may now have enough clout to get a license for BIOSs and produce officially licenses or branded systems.

I know they have history with new geo but I wonder if they might just skip it (and pc engine) due to lack of mass appeal (sales). N64 would make sense from a sales point of view but that thing is technically bonkers, so would perhaps take too long. PS1 makes more sense technically until you think you have to put a CD-ROM in the thing. Sega Mega Drive was the obvious choice after seeing the super nt but I don't think I can guess the next console this time. Maybe the next year will just be adapters for mega sg and super nt, or maybe do a multi fpga retro computer?

Set of 7 generic color overlays for the Vectrex from CTDE.
Radfoo replied to chopperthedog's topic in Vectrex
Would like a set, sent an email. Thanks. -
I'm guessing he made that batch last year and has not done any since.

Sent him a message a week or so ago. Seen one went on ebay for €350 today, don't think it was up for long - https://www.ebay.de/itm/VECTREX-VECFEVER-CARTRIDGE-/192564216355?nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557&nma=true&si=tT0T4t47pPN5zjlFjg8VHt2Y%252FKo%253D&orig_cvip=true

Gameboy Colour on the NT Mini is really good, worth a try. Have my best Tetris DX score using it.
-
It works great, but I think he is referring to PAL, many games were not released on NTSC (when I last tried PAL did not work). Thanks

anyone know what the j4 and j7 headers are for? edit - is one of them for the LED?

blimey, they are a bit pricey now! Amazing system though, love mine. Been playing with the Super NT a couple of days and it really is very good, however I do think the NT Mini is in a different league (right now). The leap from a standard NES to NT Mini is far greater than a SNES to Super NT as the SNES had pretty good RGB to start with, I think Analogue realised this from the start, hence the lower price. The Cores on the NT Mini are the icing on he cake, it is my main gaming console that is always ready to play on my main TV, love playing Gameboy Colour Tetris DX and Atari 2600 games look amazing, feel like a can finally play them properly. My opinion might change if the 8 bit cores are released for the Super NT but without them the NT Mini is worth the extra retail price (maybe even the $1000 they are going ebay for).

Looks good, where did you get those new shells from? Thanks.

ah, cool, i'll have another look, thanks. Will probably use a proper plug, travel adapters never seem particularly good/safe. Just don't know how they think a USA plug is somehow "worldwide".
-
Bit unrelated to this thread but how is the Super NT "worldwide power supply" also "USA/JPN", seems a complete contradiction?! I'm guessing they mean it will work on 240v with an adapter but it has no markings on the plug so will not risk it. Bit rubbish, I have plenty of usb power supplies so I guess I will have one that will work. Although people complained about noise from the NT Mini plug, at least it was multi-region and worked out the box (i'm still using it without problems). Sorry, rant over, for now, i'll shut up, only a minor quibble, really bugs me trivial stuff people winge about on this thread, lol.
-
Not sure if it helps or not but mine came through Donnington without problems, not been asked to pay duty. Still can't play it though, have visitors over the next couple of days so still be the weekend before I can try it :-( . Opened the box though, looks nice though has a few minor scratches on the cart flaps in the centre, I am a very fussy customer, if it were a shop down the road i'd have taken it back.
-
I know not many tried it yet, but if you ignore expansion chips is there any advantages of jailbreak over SD2SNES? Thanks
-
My Super NT arrived, not played it yet. Goods value for import duty marked as $10 :-)
-
Cool, anyone tried it yet? Weird Kevtris not posted this, guess wants if be at arms length.
-
Only just morning here, so missed it as well. Would like to see.

Had this article/link been posted before? Bit different to the others, shows a couple of real pictures, the Super NT is tiny! http://www.scmp.com/culture/arts-entertainment/article/2118165/retro-gaming-gets-21st-century-boost-analogue-consoles Article talks about Sega Genesis/Mega Drive (and other consoles) being made in the future which is not surprising. Mentioned before but it really does make me think the jailbreak will be more restrictive this time, of course Kevtris could make a Mega Drive or NES core for the Super NT but this could hit sales, it certainly will be interesting to see if we get other cores and if we do, which ones? Maybe it will just be limited to the less comercial systems and for loading SNES roms?
