  1. Thanks, will have a play with the new cores today. Have been really looking forward to the AdventureVision core. Anyone (other than Kevtris) made a PS2 adapter yet? Had hoped someone would start selling them to save me the hassle. I liked the little PCB Kevin made, if I end up making one I dont think mine will look that posh.
  2. Pleased you got it sorted, now to play some fun games!
  3. Hey Kevtris, Been playing RC Pro AM and noticed the text on the track near the start line saying "RC Pro AM" flickers when using HDMI on my LCD. At first thought this was due to do the horizontal and width settings but this is not something I've been able to tweak away. Get no flicker with RGB on a CRT with the NT mini or original NES. Do you know a setting that would sort this or is this just a side effect of the scaling? Mentioned this over on the thread about the video output and confirm someone else has noticed the same. Thanks Oli
  4. Cool, thanks for checking, pleased its not just me. I'll have a bit more of a play with the settings but might post over on the other thread.
  5. Thanks for checking, maybe my TV then. Just to clarify is not the track itself but the writing that says "RC Pro AM" written across the track usually near the start line. Thanks
  6. Has anyone else noticed flicker on the track text in RC Pro AM over HDMI? Tried on a real Nintendo and the NT Mini into a CRT and this flicker does not appear. If its not just me an my telly then does anyone have some good setting to stop this, find it annoying. Tried all sorts but it won't go away. Thanks
  7. Fair enough, has to be your own judgement and of course ability I suppose. Think it also gets awkward when you have bought something from another country, hopefully mine will be okay and I'll not have to post back to the USA. Personally I'd open to troubleshoot, check connectors and wot not, though i would not be getting the soldering iron out on something that cost me that much and is under warranty.
  8. Can see the reluctance to open but i don't think there is a warranty void if removed sticker, does it say anywhere your warranty would be void if you opened it or is that an assumption? From internal picture i have seen the controller ports are on ribbon cables, might be really simple fix, or at least easy to troubleshoot.
  9. Had not really looked into the Famicom HVC-051, looks like it will be useful on the NT Mini. Anyone know of any cheaper/easier to get hold of 3rd party versions or if they even exist?
  10. Just had a quick check, no caps at all. Pretty basic really, just resistors on pin 20 and 16. edit - unless there is something on the vga end, think unlikely though
  11. That might be good, nice to have the USB already connected, would just need an adapter for the audio. Don't know what the shipping is like but reasonably priced too.
  12. Fair enough, that is quite a few TVs, suppose you need to rule out the cable before posting it back, i'll check how mine is wired later. Do not recall exactly but if I removed the red cable the image did change so I think that rules out my theory from before. Odd that you get a red image with no red connected, could there be a short in the SCART connector?
  13. I'll see if I can check tomorrow evening. From memory there was one component behind insulation tape so i'm guessing one capacitor, not sure which pin without looking, could also see a few resistors. Edit - distorted red is what I was getting when the TV was set to component but the NT Mini was sending out RGB. What kind of TV/Monitors are you using? I tested on a 5 year old Panasonic LCD and a 10 year old Philips CRT.
  14. Thanks for the video, looks really good, be interested to see how they look with the plexi. Do you have the firmware ready to read the carts? Have you decided if you are going to sell them or put the plans up? Hopefully they will be sold, expect i'll buy two or three of them.
  15. Spent a bit more time on this than I planned but can confirm my NT mini is working correctly, ordered mine in the second batch. Realised I already had a cable almost perfect for the job, as a test I just had to quickly wire up 3volts worth of batteries to pin 16 of the SCART connector to switch it over to RGB. Tried on my LCD and an old CRT TV and both worked great, the CRT image was particularly lovely. Also played a bit more with the other RGB cable I was using earlier, turns out I was wiring that up to a socket on the TV that would only take component and s-video so explains why I could not get it to RGB! Anyway what I said before still stands, on my TV with RGB out with a TV expecting component I get a red image and when the TV is set to S-Video I get black and white - sorry if this is a red herring. I don't know if it helps but this is the cable I have successfully used for RGB on my SCART TVs http://www.ebay.com/itm/VGA-TO-SCART-RGB-1-6-METERS-SOUND-JACK-EUROCONECTOR-for-JAMMA-ARCADE-system-/141494166641?hash=item20f1b5a471:g:phIAAOSwaNBUfz2k I ordered it from that seller back in 2012, only remembered I had it about an hour ago, lol. Anyway, should only take me a few minutes to wire up a USB socket to the power connector so should work quite nicely.
  16. Just had a quick look at the analogue output video. Have only been able to try RGB with synch on green with the cables I can find at the moment but i think its a TV or TV settings issue. Eg. If you were to send an RGB signal to a monitor expecting S-Video you would get a black and white image If you were to send an RGB signal to a monitor expecting Component you would get the red image others have been describing. I need to do a bit more testing, no time until sunday/monday but does this sound right?
  17. Agree, so have started a new thread titled "Analogue NT Mini Hardware", see http://atariage.com/forums/topic/263325-analogue-nt-mini-hardware/ Thought recent topics such as debates on CRT/LCD, the included 8BITDO controller, Analogue NT Minis RGB out and the PSU could be moved over to that thread. Of course anything related to software/firmware, cartridge adaptors, the Z3k or questions for Kevtris would still be posted here. Thanks
  18. The FPGA thread started by Kevtris is getting a bit busy, recent topics have included debates on CRT/LCD, the included 8BITDO controller, Analogue NT Minis RGB out and the PSU, thought those kind of issues could be discussed here instead? Original thread - http://atariage.com/forums/topic/242970-fpga-based-videogame-system/page-1 and Kevins comment on the thread -
  19. Mine makes a little noise that can be heard if i'm right next to it, not heard other peoples but i'm guessing thats just the way it is. Only put my ear close to it just now after your comment, had not noticed before, not a test I normally do with other power supplies so not sure how it compares.
  20. I think we need to give them a bit more a chance yet, perhaps a bit soon to right them off. It is a premium product but they are also a small company, might need to give them a bit of time. Think the comments on the included controller are a bit harsh, okay the diagonals could be better but I think they needed to include a controller. I started off using a Nintendo gamepad but find myself using the 8bitdo one more and more. Having said all that, i have not checked RGB yet, hopefully have a cable for the job in the next few days and a i'll post back. I wonder if new threads should be started for such issues, this is not a Analogue support thread, its more about the Z3k and Kevins firmware. Also I commented a couple of times on the CRT debate, think this kind of stuff should be perhaps taken elsewhere, what do the moderators think?
  21. Yeah, I bought a powered coil after doing a tube swap (old arcade monitor had a cracked neck) but was a bit rubbish, ended up using the electric drill method but its been good now for 5 years plus. Old CRT monitors are not hard to fix, its all quite simple stuff, just have to be careful with the high voltages involved.
  22. I think i remember reading the nes core does. Maybe not all the other cores though, so you probably want an NTSC compatible TV anyway.
  23. I have a couple of CRT TVs and a load of arcade monitors. They all produce lovely images as they are maintained, a couple of the arcades are early 80's models and still produce as good an image as they did when they were new, much better than the latter ones from the 90's. Having said that, the NT Mini is the first time a modern LCD panel is acceptable to me, in fact, for some systems and for the practicality it is superior.
  24. Thanks, will have a go tomorrow evening. Still not tried all the other cores but looks like a few good titles on the 7800. So far had a play on NES, Colecovision, Atari 2600 and the Master System. Spent ages on the Atari 2600, is really good. Need to find some more PAL games for the full nostalgia effect as NTSC pallete is all wonky to my British memory, lol.
  25. NT Mini arrived! Just did the best thing ever (possibly a slight exaggeration but good anyway), used copynes to save my Zelda cart and game saves, this particular cart has my original games saves probably from around 1990, now safely backed up :-) Got to go, lots of playing to do.
