Hopefully I'll be able to add a few myself to that published list...anyone have any word on the BLL cable yet?

Hey now, I didn't claim to do the same feat myself. I just happen to know many people who beat that game pretty quickly. I haven't played a whole lot of LM, but I can honestly say what I have played was pretty good. Pikmin took me about a week to beat, though, but your mileage may vary. That's why I suggested to rent before you buy.
On the other hand. RL and SMB take MUCH longer to beat...I guarantee no one who visits these boards will beat those games within the standard 3 day rental window.
-
About dang time.
Ahem.
Anyway, I would definitely recommend Super Monkey Ball and Rogue Leader as definite purchases. I would rent Luigi's Mansion, WaveRace, and Pikmin before buying them. Those last three are definitely good games, but can all be beat within the standard 3 day window.
I've had a chance to play the new Resident Evil (Import), and I must say I'm quite impressed. Those are big words coming from me, as I've hated all of the other RE games. I would definitely recommend that as a purchase on the 30th.

I have yet to see any games on the way to the XBox that don't reek of mediocrity. The only exception would be Project Ego, but I find it hard to get excited about PC-style games on consoles.

I wonder why we haven't seen too many good American games on any of the other systems...oh, maybe that's because most of the big American publishers (EA, Activision, etc) put out crap. I see nothing different happening with the Xbox, except that they're not getting any good games from Japanese developers to counter the uninspired regurgitation being ported over. Believe me, if the Xbox doesn't start getting some better games, and soon, it'll go the way of the DC about a year from now. I don't see it hanging with Sony and Nintendo during the Christmas season if things don't change.

Oids 2.0 is now available for the Mac for those of you who have Macs. From what I've read, it's pretty much the same game except with extra galaxies added.
-
You should've smacked him upside the head for that.

Cool, just let me know if you can find one.
BTW, to kinda get back on topic, GameFellas (Austin, TX) has I-Spy for $20. Not sure how many copies they have, though.
-
Tell ya what, the next time you see a Jag CD unit on the shelf for $25, let me know. I'll pay you $50 plus shipping if you can buy it for me. I can't find ANY here in Austin, and the ones on eBay go for way more than they're worth.

I actually didn't think the resolution was much of an issue. The sprites of most Lynx games were usually big enough to actually see them, whereas the Game Gear sprites seemed to be a bit small. The Lynx's sprite capabilities were far superior to the Game Gear's in just about every aspect.
The only thing I think the Lynx was really lacking in was the amount of on-screen colors.

I gotta revive this thread...
Warbirds
Ever dream of becoming a World War I fighter pilot? If so, then Warbirds is the game for you. If not, it's still the game for you. Dogfighting on any console has never been this good. Set in a first person view from the cockpit, you fly around a relatively large playfield, complete with clouds, mountains, and even a "barn" to land at when you run out of ammo. The controls are fairly responsive, and even include options for "arcade" or "simulation" settings. You can even pick what kind of damage you can take, and how much ammo you and your opponents are carrying. The one player game isn't incredibly deep, but the computer still provides a challenging opponent. This game is definitely at it's best when linked up with friends. This title is a must-have for any Lynx owner.

Where in Texas are you going? I happen to live in Austin, but I know of many other Atari fans in the Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio areas. Plan on getting together with anyone?
-
The Lynx, of course.
Honestly, I think it's all a matter of perspective. The Lynx used I think a custom 6502 (?), the Game Gear a Z-80 (?). The Lynx's color palette was 16 onscreen from 4096, to the Game Gear's 32 onscreen from the same number. The Lynx had a 16 Mhz graphics co-processor, the Game Gear didn't (don't remember exactly what it had). I think both had 64k of RAM. The Game Gear had a higher resolution than the Lynx. It's been a while since I've looked into the hardware specs of both systems, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Mismanagement does not make a company evil. For all of the bad stories about Atari, I can think of quite a few good ones. I remember reading about several times that disabled people were given brand new systems for free, complete with notes from Sam Tramiel. Plenty of other ones I've heard, too, including a few of my own.
I know a lot of people had issues with the way the company was run, but something about Atari's products always seemed to give me the impression that they were designed by people that actually CARED, if you know what I mean. I don't give my undying loyalty to just ANYBODY, ya know....

Adrian, when you're not spouting your XBOX fanboy propaganda, you're actually quite informative and helpful. Thanks!

I've been a diehard Lynx fan, and plan on supporting it as long as Lynx units are in existence. I'm actually in the process of building up my collection right now, as I only have about 20 games. Buying the Songbird releases has definitely been in my plans, but so far it's been an issue of $$$. I've also been looking into developing for the Lynx, but that too has been a question of $$$.
I'm doing what I can to support the Lynx, which has included writing many different reviews of games. I started up a thread a little while ago which invited everyone to post reviews on Lynx games, but so far there hasn't been much of a response to it.

I just dug my 2600 out of the closet, and I'm wanting to fire it up again for the first time in over a decade. However, I soon realized that I'm missing a few things, like an AC adapter and controllers (joystick and paddles). Anybody know where I can find these for cheap? Ebay is not a correct answer, as I have yet to find anything on there for a reasonable price. I just want these to see if my 2600 still even works...if it doesn't, I'll probably be in the market for the console itself, too. Any help on this would warrant my undying gratitude. Thanks!

Thanks for the information, Adrian.

Just wondering if anyone knows of a program similar to Cart Commander for the Mac?
-
I'm available to talk through email all night, Adrian. This is the last post of yours I'm responding to.

Stupid is as stupid does.
But, no, I don't think you're stupid. Just a bit slow.
-
By what means can you call what I said slandering? I stated a fact, Adrian, one which you seem to ignore. BTW, it wasn't all that funny (or original). Glad to know you're easily amused.
If you have any further quips with me or anyone on this forum, I for one would be more than happy to discuss them via email. Discussions like this don't belong on here.

Ebay is the only way I can start up my Lynx collection again without paying $30 for common games from many of the dealers out there. I've always preferred picking up games at the local game store, but I've just about depleted GameFellas of all of their Lynx games.

The Commodore 64.

The Commode 64 had some good (even great) games. One in particular I used to love was Friday the 13th. No other game had ever given me nightmares until I would see the random pictures of an axe going through a guy's head or the seven bloody skulls. Even the screams whenever someone died gave me chills.
