  1. From what I've read on the game (which has been quite a bit the last few days!), a new person will move into your town each day. I guess we'll see how that goes. I have yet to play the game myself, but rest assured I'll dig into it as soon as I get home!
  2. sega working only for nintendo is baaaaadd!!! i neevr want to see it. if they were going to make games for one system, why not stick with dreamcast but just not make any more systems? still what will big N do? Sega working only for Nintendo is MUCH better than working only for M$ or $ony. Nintendo and Sega have had a mutual respect all these years, even though they've been competitors. The rumors started off as Sega joining forces exclusively with one of the three big hardware makers. Only since the acquisition of Rare by M$ have the rumors pointed Sega towards Nintendo.
  3. If the rumors about Nintendo dumping Rare to buy exclusivity with Sega are true, then I'd happily trade Rare for Sega.
  4. Actually Nintendo is just hitting it's stride, with the release of Mario Sunshine boosting sales by 50% for Nintendo, and the "heavy-hitters" close to being here. I don't think Nintendo will be able to catch up with Sony, but they'll definitely take quite a large chunk from them. The Xbox will be left languishing far behind both of them, IMO.
  5. Supposedly, Animal Crossing will let you collect and trade classic NES games with others. I'm really interested in seeing what games were included.
  6. Actually, MacGurl, we have 18 5200 games. I think there were only a couple in that lot that we don't already have. However, BallBlazer definitely caught my eye, but even then we already have it for the 7800.
  7. I still maintain that the Dreamcast is one of the greatest systems ever made. It probably has the highest AAA - Crap ratio I've ever seen on a console. Sure, there are some stinkers, but your odds of randomly grabbing a DC game and having it turn out to be good to great are far higher than any other console. I would HIGHLY suggest that you grab one now while you can still find it and the games for relatively cheap. I know a few of the rarer games (ie. Record of Lodoss War, Bangai-O) are starting to rise in cost, and won't remain at a reasonable price for much longer.
  8. I have the European (PAL) release of Shenmue II and I have no trouble booting it with the GameShark. I haven't played the Japanese version, so I have no idea if it has English subtitles or not. It is, however, generally less expensive than the European version.
  9. I definitely plan on buying it (along with Super Monkey Ball 2), but not on Tuesday. I have to wait a bit before I can get it.
  10. 5 minutes of playing this game convinced me that I had better things to do.
  11. I've noticed a VERY disturbing trend in console gaming as of late. Namely, the porting of the FPS (First Person Shooter) to the console. Now, don't get me wrong, I still like the FPS genre. However, I like it on my PC. I DO NOT LIKE IT ON A F***ING CONSOLE!!!! First person shooters just SUCK on a console, even with the analogue sticks that all of the consoles now have. It wasn't that bad when games like Doom and AvP for the Jag where on the consoles, as your typical controller was quite capable of handling these games. However, given a choice between buying Return to Castle Wolfenstein on a PC or console, I'm DEFINITELY going to the PC. Given the choice between a console and nothing though, I'll pick nothing. Just my thoughts on that. Anyone in agreement with me here?
  12. I would definitely be interested in snagging a coaxial style RF, as I need one bad. Do any of the manual switching ones exist that have pass-through connectors?
  13. The PS2 does have a decent lineup of games for it. The thing is, there aren't too many more on the way that I'm really looking forward to (other than Devil May Cry 2). The GameCube, on the other hand, seems to have a much more impressive lineup on the way. I think the GameCube may start catching up to the PS2 (but not quite all the way) in the next year. So I'll maintain that both systems have good selections available for them. The XBox, on the other hand, needs a miracle in order to make a serious dent in the console market. I don't think XBox Live is gonna make that dent, either.
  14. I'll be sure to pick that game up when I buy an Xbox in about a year at clearance prices.
  15. Hasn't this issue been discussed before? I remember a few people talking about writing routines that would detect which method was being used for the bypass.
  16. Thanks for the advice, guys. The spindle does spin pretty easily, so I don't think the problem is with it being stuck. I'm not with the unit right now, and won't have a chance to take it apart until this weekend. In case I'm not able to get it to work on my own, do any of you guys specialize in fixing or refurbishing Jag CD units? Like I said before, I don't want to have to buy a new one, as they're just way too expensive from the different retailers. Again, thanks!
  17. Fairly adept, yeah. I'm all for it just as long as there's not too much that can get screwed up inside the drive.
  18. I pretty much bought it as-is. The seller has offered to refund my money provided I send the software back that came with it. However, that's not what I want. I WANT A WORKING JAG CD UNIT! If there is ANYWAY I can get it fixed, I will. The mechanism doesn't spin up at all.
  19. I just recently received a JagCD unit for what I thought was a great price. However, it doesn't work. When I power on the Jag, the CD unit's startup screen shows up but then shows the picture of the CD with a ? on it. Also, whatever CD is in the drive does not spin at all. Cartridges work fine when plugged into the CD unit. My question to you all is this: What would be the best (and cheapest) way for me to get this unit refurbished? I don't want to have to buy a new CD unit, as all of the Atari retailers on the web charge WAAAY too much for them. Do any of the dealers offer decent prices for fixing the CD unit? Or are there any enterprising individuals who would do it?
  20. $140 is a heck of a price for that game, considering that the original BS still goes for $200+ on eBay. I'd be tempted myself, but I'm waiting for another run of BSG.
  21. I think that Cybermorph just got a bad rap all around, and public opinion seems to sway people on the matter. I honestly think Cybermorph wasn't a GREAT game, but it was quite good. Just the sheer size of the game was a testament to how far along the Jag was at the time of it's release.
  22. This has always been a tough question. The majority of game systems that have hit the mainstream could have an excusable argument for the title for many different reasons. Having said that, I'd have to go with the Dreamcast. A sizable collection of software with such a large percentage of the games ranging from good to great is simply unprecedented. The chances were quite high that someone could go pick up a Dreamcast and a random game, and that game would turn out to be good. On the other hand, grabbing a Playstation and a random game, the odds are very likely that the game would be complete and utter crap. I'd have to put the TG-16 (PC Engine) as a close second, although I'm sure my relatively low exposure to many of the Japanese titles that never made their way over here holds back my opinion. Still, though, the TG-16 had a very high percentage of good to great games in comparison to it's entire library.
  23. I'd have to say the 3D0 was a far bigger waste than the N64. There were no shortage of AAA titles for the N64, whereas I can't think of any for the 3D0 except for Return Fire. The Virtual Boy was a pretty big waste of hardware, too.
  24. I take it "Atari" now has the publishing rights for Treasure's games in the US now?
