  1. If a solution for saving CD games on some sort of CD Bypass cart comes along, you may want to wait for that. The B&C bypass cart doesn't have any NVRAM for saving games. Perhaps they could be persuaded to make such a beast....
  2. Actually I just ordered one from the Goat Store. Thanks for the info, though! And yes, I definitely do need another Jag. As I'm trying to meddle with Jag development, I'd like to have an extra one for modding.
  3. Unfortunately I don't have any other Jags other than my main one. I do plan on getting another one to mod, but it doesn't do me much good right now....thanks for the info though.
  4. I just got my Jag CD-ROM in today, but it came minus an AC adapter. Does anyone know where to get a good replacement adapter? I heard that a Sega Genesis AC adapter should work, but I need to know for sure.
  5. BTW, does anyone know of a retailer who carries the 5200 joystick repair kits? I just received a 5200 with 18 (!) games, and both of the controllers are dead. Oh yeah, I wouldn't mind picking me up one of the third party controllers either....
  6. If you have a little bit of cash to spend, I'd recommend picking up the Jaguar Pro Controller, if you can find it for anything less than an insane amount of money. Even then, it's money well spent. It's one of the sturdiest and best laid out controllers I've ever used. It's TONS better than the standard Jaguar controller.
  7. I wish I was made of money so I could have 3 or 4 of them lying around.
  8. Let's restate that question: How many of you have any idea how much it costs to develop a decent game for the pig of a machine that is the PS2? How many of you know how much hard work it is to create thousands upon thousands of lines of code, create thousand upon thousands of textures, create hundreds of convincing sound effects, tie them all together, make the game playable, test it, debug it, market it, and sell it? Piracy is bad, mmmmkay?
  9. No particular order here: Shadow of the Beast - Great parallax scrolling Gates of Zendocon - Nice animations, detailed sprites Pit Fighter - Choppy animation, but relatively smooth scaling California Games - Just looks darn nice Turbo Sub - Smooth scaling, high color
  10. Even on that level though, what WILL prevent them from doing it regardless? Honestly, although I don't think there will ever be a way to stop piracy, it can be slowed down. In fact, it can even be stunted pretty darn well. Considering that a good majority of the people are collectors, doing something like a numbered or personalized copy of the game would ensure that more people would be willing to spring for it. BSG and Protector SE both had good ideas by including extras with the games, which helps ensure that more people are willing to dish out the money instead of just having someone dump the ROM for them. I know that to a lot of people, nothing beats having the whole "package".
  11. One way to combat piracy of CD games is to either number or personalize each copy of the game. As the Jaguar user base is pretty small, this wouldn't be too difficult to do. If nothing else, it would be an effective way of seeing exactly who is copying the CD's.
  12. Thanks again Skywalker, I'll let you know when I receive it!
  13. Favorites: N64 (Yes, you head that right!) - A very good controller IMO Jag Pro Controller - Too bad not too many games utilize the extra buttons Genesis - Probably the best Dpad of all time TurboGrafx-16 - Why haven't more console makers put Turbo switches on their controllers as standard? Least Favorites: XBox - Some good concepts, you'd think that MS would take a cue from their SideWinder pads Intellivision - The worst controller of all time, for MANY reasons Atari 5200 - C'mon guys, it's just HIP to hate this controller!
  14. Yet another one who agrees with the crowd. You got a pretty good deal! All of those (except for D2) are pretty good games, especially Shenmue.
  15. One thing to keep in mind about the CD-Bypass + NVRAM solution is that you'd want one that would cater to the widest audience possible. With each solution I see either coming out or being bandied about, it seems like the target audience is growing smaller and smaller. Unfortunately, not everyone has a Jag CD OR BJL kit, so that's a pretty small audience right there. Even a good number of the hardcore Jag audience doesn't have Protector SE or BattleSphere. Hell, I'm running minus a JagCD PLUS those two games right now, and I'm even trying to get into Jag development! All I'm saying is that whatever solution works best, just try to make it as easy and cheap as possible.
  16. I mainly use a Mac, so if anyone can point me in the directions of ST and/or 8-bit style fonts, I'd be much appreciative!
  17. Ok, here's a couple of pictures of the case with the game and manual enclosed. This case was designed to hold both a Sega Genesis and SNES cart, but the Jag cart fits in fairly well. It's not quite snug in the ridges, but fits in nicely nonetheless. The manual fits in the case along with the cartridge almost perfectly. I'll try to see if I can find anywhere to get them, but for now I'd suggest checking with video stores to see if they have any excess cases.
  18. As I remember seeing them around before the Jag ever came out, I think they were designed with multiple cartridge sizes in mind. I'll try to take a picture of one of the cases so you guys can get an idea of how well they work.
  19. I actually have a few of those, as the local classic games dealer likes to put all of their Jag cartridges in these. I'll try to find out from them where to buy them.
  20. I'll definitely second that. You absolutely HAVE to learn how to dodge attacks constantly, and to get that timing down. Once you have that down, the rest is easy. The one thing that pisses me off about those fights is that you have to sit through the whole cut scene beforehand. That gets old really fast when it starts taking you several tries to beat an opponent!
