      It may have been intended as a game machine originally, but the A8 platform made a great computer series, too. I learned a lot from the 800 and 800XL in the 80s, along with the TI 99/4A, my first computer.

      My first experience with the 8-bit was when they included an emulation of a 48k upgraded Atari 400 running Atari Basic in Atari Greatest Hits Volume 2 for the DS, with Atari Basic ending up being the first programming language I ever learnt. Years later I got an Atari 600xl and it quickly became one of my favorite home computers.
