Definitely create a ticket with support.  Include this pic.  They should be able to walk you through it and get it accomplished.

I received a reply from Atari support apparently this is a known issue.  In case anyone else needs them these  are the steps they suggested I take.  I haven’t tried them myself yet.

Do you mean you tried to do system update from the System menu? I never tried that.

The system update ran automatically at startup and completed no problem, first time.

However, because I had changed the BIOS setting relating to secure boot only, I got into a boot loop for the BIOS update.
That is, it tried to do it, but could not, and rebooted, and then tried again. (I could have bypassed it but wanted the improvements.)
I reverted that change and then it completed OK. Anybody changing the BIOS settings of course needs to know how to revert back.

Maybe you have something like that with the BIOS? It's not clear to me where and how it does not work from what you wrote. Sorry.

It’s the system update that fails. Secure boot is enabled. Fails on step 2 of 3.

I’m still having same issues after January update.

Ok so I decided to open my second still sealed VCS to test and did not encounter any WiFi issues from anywhere in my home “updated with new bios so not sure if this one had issues before update”. I switched out the WiFi cards and tested it on the original VCS and no WiFi issues so looks like a bad WiFi card.

I think leaving things in the BIOS as vanilla as possible is the best way to be sure of compatibility. ?
There is/was a bug in the WIFI setup on AtariOS which was also in Ubuntu and other Linux distributions.
After the January update, that should be resolved - the WIFI sleep mode is changed.
I updated it already, and the WIFI behaviour went from glitchy to totally reliable, so I think that is resolved.

I’m still having same issues after January update.

  5. Has anyone tried running VCS at 54W?  Mine slows to a crawl I have to set it at 45W max.  Also no wifi issues when running In Windows 10 but in VCS the WiFi will drop unless I place it real close to the router then it works fine but when I take it to my bedroom I get the drops.  No drops in windows next to router or my bedroom.  It’s like the WiFi isn’t getting enough power in VCS mode.

  6. I too am experiencing WiFi issues.  Sometime it works fine other time it keeps dropping out.  Restarting console will sometime fix it sometimes won’t. I did upgraded the Ram and installed an SSD but was having issues even before I opened the console and made sure WiFi antennas were plugged in properly.
