I see them fine too. If you have end labels for them, I'd appreciate them too. I actually have a few copies of PP2, but have not looked at my stock yet. I'm making my youtube video for Bronze Age Marvel comics tomorrow so after that, I'm going to delve into the 7800 list and scans.
-
Awesome! Something I'll definitely look over. Maybe I'll contact the OP. Of course I'm not for the list but for the proof, so I'll hopefully be able to get scans for everything.

Like I mentioned, I don't have much in the way of loose cartridges. I do have some duplicates, maybe a few dozen, 40-50 loose extras I think at most. I finished listing all the 3rd party stuff, a total of 10 games between Absolute, Activision and Froggo. I'm not going to include the foreign release like HES, similar to what I actually do not cover in the 2600 list. For Absolute, I am listing ONLY the labels that say 7800 on them, not the 2600 version that has both 2600 and 7800 on them. That is, unless there is a strong argument as to why I should include them. I did notice on my Karateka box which is open, that the printer on the tiny flap is WA-TA, one of the listings included in late 1980s 2600 boxes. I will document manuals that have the printer code differences also, example B.T.3.1988. I will count these as separate listings. I did see one of the manuals, maybe the Food Fight, which had the 1987 copyright date, but had the B.T. date for 1988. I'm very excited about working on this. Phil

Thanks for all the info. I'll get as much details as possible and then we'll work on what I'm missing. I figure there may be some items I've never seen or heard from.

It's a very detailed list. I'm very extensive with the information. I didn't anticipate many variations with the 7800 as it is such a small library and I don't expect they changed much to the point that they would need to keep production going. But you'd be surprised. I had only put the first two entries in, 32 in 1 and Ace of Aces when I just happened to look at the Food Fight cartridge on my shelf. When it said Printed in Taiwan, I had the feeling that there would be variations. Funny thing is there is a 1986 and a 1987 Printed in Taiwan label, but I haven't seen Taiwan put on the box at all. With the 2600, Made in / Printed in were usually consistent. If the label said Taiwan, the box would say Taiwan. China label, China box. Hong Kong label, Hong Kong box. So who knows what is out there. I had planned on covering many systems when I first created the website. That is why Intellivision had been started. I got sidetracked with life over the years and thus there are still many things incomplete on the site with the 2600 and the Intellivision just abruptly stops. When I moved to Florida, my Intellivision stock was packed away. I figure I have a few hundred boxed games. At the moment, I have no idea where any of it is, so Intellivision is still on hold. I also plan to do the 5200 and Colecovision. Whether or not I do any other vintage systems, like Odyssey 2, Bally Astrocade, RCA Studio II, Fairchild, etc is up in the air. I have extensive libraries of the majority of vintage games, but not necessarily extra stock. Who knows even if there are many variations with any of those other systems. SMS will probably not be done. If I could get ahold of NES, that would be a fun task. I do know the president of WATA and have been to his house with his SUPER EXTENSIVE collection, but getting a list and scans from them is probably never going to happen. I have over 500 NES games in my collection, but don't have much overstock. I think without a NES list to go off, I'd have no idea of how many variations would be out there for any particular game. WATA has described on their site there are 11 different Super Mario Bros boxes out there. Anyway, like I've mentioned in the past, I love doing this and want to give members of the collecting world something they can use. Actually WATA has access to my 2600 info and since they are grading Atari and other vintage games, it's extremely helpful to them to have as accurate information as possible. So enjoy and like I said, if you see anything I'm missing you can contribute, I'd appreciate it. Phil

Thanks for offering to help. I'll let you know.

If you look at the 2600 variation list, you'll know exactly what I list for variations.

Hey, all! I wanted to let you know that I began the Atari 7800 label variation list This one is going to be a challenge because Atariage only has 1 cartridge/manual/box per game, Atariboxed the same, and Atarimania has nothing and is "under construction". A lot of my inventory is sealed, The good news is that the 3rd party software (Absolute, Activision and Froggo) don't have many games and maybe do not have much in the way of variations. The Atari made games should be fun to research. So I started to build the document. My guess is this is going to take about 2 months, so hopefully I'll have everything I can do on my part finished by the end of August. I should have within a week or two the basic page along with the list being done. The scans of course are going to be the most tedious. I'll try and use what I can download first from here along with whatever my inventory has. I spent about 2+ hours last night and got a decent amount done with the 3rd party on the list. No scans yet, but I'll get all the photos on my computer and then slowly work on the site and upload as I get things finished. When I'm ready for help, I'll post here and hopefully others can help out. My guess is that most of the Atari made games will have anywhere between 2-4 variations. Just as an example, I happened to pull Food Fight off the shelf since I only have a loose copy of this. I did some research and it seems there are 3 cartridge label variations along with 3 box variations.. Manuals are going to be the toughest to get ahold of scans. That is probably where I'm going to need the most help. Anyway, I'll let everyone know when I've posted something of the 7800 on the site and you can follow my progress as I update. Thanks in advance for your help. Phil

At the moment, I put the video game episodes on hold as I haven't gotten to the boxes of other vintage systems. So I moved on to comic books. I just released the introduction video. Below is the link to the thread where I'll be posting my comic book releases every 2 weeks. I expect there to be at least 6-8 videos. Also, I probably will be posting other collectible videos under that thread like toys, action figures, trading cards, etc. We'll see when we get there. Thanks for watching. Phil

Here are some of the photos. Sorry this got so off-topic, but i couldn't resist. I have photos of several others that I must've sold like Fozzie Bear, Cookie Monster, and Star Trek. -
Talking with Jay, I think I may put a tray list on the Imagic variation page that describes the cartridges. Instead of creating variations for each game with each tray, I'd do what I did with the General Atari Variation page describing the boxes. I'll show the tray version and then underneath list which game and version contain this tray. Since it's too easy to interchange trays, I would suggest anyone helping to be honest if you are willing to help. Sealed games work great if you can identify which tray is inside. So feel free to pm me which box/cart variation you own with which specific tray. I'll be pm'ing Jay to send me nice scans of the trays.

Actually I probably still have one. I was selling vintage Bradley watches from the early 1980s of Snoopy, Smurfs, Darth Vader, Kermit the Frog and some others. When I moved, I don't know exactly where I put them. All of which were brand new in the boxes and guaranteed to work. I was getting $100-125 each for them. My mother used to manage a jewelry store and they were old store stock I acquired in the 1990s from her boss. -
I didn't realize that it doesn't open the Youtube video but rather just watches it here. Technology. Hah. I guess you can just click one of the links above and get to Youtube. So don't forget the schedule I put a couple of posts ago. I'm not recording anything tomorrow. Taking a break for now. Have to consult with my NES guy. He doesn't want to be on the video, but is giving me lots of info and history to discuss in it. Seeya next week with my 5200 and 7800 with the blooper too. Stay tuned.

The cardboard is rather flimsy. The plastic has a tendency of cracking. I may show all these plastic trays under this thread. http://www.videogamevariations.com/AtariCompanies/Imagic/imagic_variations.htm Problem is that unless you have a sealed game and can figure out which plastic tray is inside the box, then it would be too easy to swap trays and say that this is a new variation. I do however have a sealed Demon Attack that I mention in my video that I didn't have. I believe it has the blue tray. In fact I think I mention it somewhere, probably in my Giant List of Variations thread. I'll go check it and come back. Ok, here it is. Towards the bottom of page 28, Rom Hunter puts up a Star Voyager game with it and I do say that my sealed Demon Attack is the one that has the blue tray. If I can confirm sealed games with a specific tray, I may add them in the variation list. For now, I'll hold off.

Did the Colecovision last week and finished the Sega Master System this morning. I can't believe I didn't mention Sonic in the SMS video. I'll do it in the comments though. Here is a breakdown right now of video releases for those interested. I'll list the date as a Saturday, but may release them on rridays. 10/17: Episode 2, Atari 2600 (visiting websites) part 1. 10/24: Episode 2 Atari 5200/7800 part 2 10/31: Intellivision 11/13: Colecovision 11/27: Sega Master System NES may be following 2 weeks later. Each new video will be released every 2 weeks. If something is in 2 parts, then you will get 3 consecutive videos as technically it's not a new episode, just a new part. Anyway, hope you enjoy.

Glad to hear you're doing better. Heal up. Recovery is a pain. Literally.

Part 2 is now available. Read comments on some of the games I should have mentioned. Since it's unscripted and there is so much to discuss, I sometimes forget about mentioning some great games for investment. https://youtu.be/zFVLjtBmbKk

Project | Reconstruction research of the Atari 2600 game series.

Wow, that brings back some memories, if only 5 years ago. I can't believe I had only started working on printer dates back in 2014. Seems like I would have had done it earlier. I'm wondering if the tiny number has to do with what Ranthulfr had said about position with the Chopper Command and traceability. Again, I've only seen up to 6 of the tiny numbers on the Atari flap. Hopefully Daniel is keeping a record of everything we're discovering about these tiny numbers. @Random Terrain Looking at what you had posted in that thread, you had said that you were looking for all Rev 1 boxes for the earliest release. Now years later, we see that there are certain titles that only had Rev 4 releases, or maybe no Rev on the boxes. I'll be reviewing your site for the game releases as I'm mentioning websites with Atari information in my videos and putting in the comments others. I'm assuming you wouldn't have a problem with me listing your site for viewers/collectors to go to learn about when Atari released their games. LMK otherwise. That video will be airing next weekend. Thanks. Phil- 72 replies

I've never seen any number higher than a 6. I believe at one time the variation list mentioned the tiny numbers on Sky Diver. I think I removed it because I found it really didn't serve a purpose. I think more research needs to be done with this. Maybe by studying and seeing which titles have this slight variation, possibly we can figure out why they are there. Maybe Random Terrain has an idea. Someone shoot him a PM to see what he thinks?- 72 replies
