  1. It looks interesting. I think it would be more appealing if it included a sesitivity adjustment for the tilt control.
  2. The key is that it doesn't run hot. All that hot air is blown out quietly and effectively by the great cooling system in there. The key word there is quietly. My cousin got his 360 back from being repaired and noticed that the fan was even louder than before. Maybe they upped the fan speed to help keep it cool, not sure. Anyway, congratulations Tempest. I hope you enjoy your new PS3. If you decide to run folding@home while your PS3 is idle we would love to have you (and anyone else who is interested) in our Atari Force group. While f@h is running, just hold down the square button to see the controls. You can change your donor name and join a team under the Identity option. Our team # is 56067. I've been runnning my PS3 for 3 weeks straight, 24 hours a day. When I'm not playing Oblivion, demos or watching videos it's been folding. I did reset it 2 times, so we'll see how it does in a few more weeks of running constantly.
  3. I'm still waiting for Gauntlet and Rampart myself.
  4. About the only real difference between the PS3 and the 360 is the fan noise.
  5. I don't know if there are any good package deals out there. Usually they include games you don't want or 3rd party items that aren't too good anyway. I bought mine at Best Buy since I got $5 off coupons through their reward zone program. I'll let you know if I see any other good deals.
  6. I played Spider-Man and Tomba 2 on the PS3 and they worked fine.
  7. If it included PS3 games I probably would have bought MUA and COD3. Oh well.
  8. The only other factor you might consider is system reliability. I only personally know 2 people with 360's and they both had the ring of death. One got his in october and the other for christmas. So far there have been no reports of dead ps3's that I have seen.
  9. Line conditioners are always a good idea when dealing with electronic equipment. My cousin's 360 took a dump this past weekend while he was playing Crackdown. Hopefully he gets a replacement that lasts a lot longer.
  10. Positive views of the PS3 are few and far between these days, but this one is pretty reasonable: http://www.psxextreme.com/ps2-news/4136.html Soon to follow, a brand new episode of ..... When Trolls Attack!
  11. People often do what they do best. Farmers farm, programmers program and whiners whine. It's just the way it is.
  12. I checked cpuwiz's link again and the 23556 active PS3's are delivering 577 TFLOPS. It's nice to see people helping out on Stanford's project. http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=osstats
  13. I started a team named Atari Force. If anyone would like to join, pm me for the group number.
  14. I agree. Posting anything remotely interesting or positive will always get replies from people so filled with hate they can't see straight. Here I thought Stanford's project was an interesting idea, but according to at least one person, how dare they try to learn anything.
  15. First of all, pull your head out. No-one even implied this was a reason to buy a PS3. Why are you so worried about who would get credit if something does come out of it? It's Stanford's project so they would get the credit. Apperently with your short sighted little temper tantrum you don't want to see any progress against these health issues. I, on the other hand, don't have any problem helping someone with a project to increase their knowledge.
  16. Still waiting to get mine in the mail. Anybody have some initial thoughts on the PS3 version or are you too busy playing?
  17. They shouldn't worry. In about 2 weeks everyone WILL have an equal opportunity to buy a PS3 since they'll be sitting in stores collecting dust. Don't think so. Europe is eagerly awaiting the PS3 and the press is not as bad as in the U.S. The PS3 is an alright product for a fair price. And frankly I don't want to waste my money on an inferior product like the Xbox 360 which is prone to malfunctions and defects. MS deserved some bad press for their poor quality assurance. Maybe the new 'black' 360 people keep talking about will have better quality control. Third version is the charm right?
  18. The only one I bought so far was Flow, just to see how well the motion control works. I have to say, it actually works pretty well. A few others look interesting to me, but I really need to finish (and in some cases start ) quite a few PS and PS2 games. I will probably get Gauntlet 2 whenever that finally gets released. Oblivion comes out this week so it's not like I'll be bored.
  19. http://ps3.ign.com/articles/772/772947p1.html It sounds like a worthwhile project. How much it will help out is difficult to tell. I'll probably let my PS3 work on these while I'm sleeping and at work. If anyone else is interested in this maybe we could start an AtariAge group.
  20. Is it possible to connect to the Japanese playstation store on an American system? -mike No. He must have a japanese system. From what I have read all you have to do is tell the PS3 you live in Japan and it won't know any better.
  21. I received a strange e-mail today stating that the release date of my Oblivion pre-order was changed to 03/14/07?! I was pretty sure the official release date was the 20th but I guess I'll just have to see what happens.
  22. Looks like I found an answer: http://www.homebetatrial.com/
  23. I wonder how they will handle the beta? Will anyone with a PS3 be able to try it out, or only a select few?
  24. It does look kinda interesting. I'd like to try it out just to see how it works.
  25. I just hope I don't miss it because I forgot a new episode was going to be on. A friend of mine did that last time it disappeared for 6 weeks.
