For those of you that haven't heard already, the official release date is now March 20, 2007. First we have to wait an extra week for Oblivion to be released, and now we have to wait until April 23rd for the last episodes of Heroes.

I don't see why people complain so much about fighting games that don't have on-line matches. There is always some amount of lag with internet connections which destroys the timing for fighting games. nuff said.

As far as I'm concerned you can take rumble and shove it up your a$$.
-
Ok....on the topic of rumble in the PS3 controller.... I think it was a mistake to leave rumble out.
I'm not sad to see it go. I'm glad it's gone. Worthless gimmick anyway.
I'm glad rumble is gone. In most games it was just annoying. Now I don't have to hunt through the option menu just to turn it off.

They do have a video of Flow on there.
For most games like Q-bert and Flow, if they put a demo up, even fewer people would consider buying it. Once you play a level of these single concept games you pretty much have the whole game. The only difference from the full game being the difficulty, usually.

unlike all the other versions, you can't rapidly inflate the baddies,it's worse with the pro line stick cus the side buttons have way too much travel and too springy, even for normal pumping,a real finger buster!!
What? I've eliminated strings of five and six enemies all charging me at once. Rapid inflation is not only possible, but easy.
Really?with which stick?,it says in the inst.manual for rapid inflate,(on pro-line stick)press and hold the fire button,it doesnt go any faster, just eliminates having to pump. The 2600 version, and INTV version,i have no problems at all on the subject.
It's been quite a while since I played it but it seems like you keep moving toward the enemy while rapidly pressing and releasing the fire button. They pop really quick that way. Just holding down the fire button takes forever for them to pop.

I had saved enough money to buy one and then the day before I was going to get it my car broke down. Now such a problem if it hadn't ended up costing me a thousand bucks to fix it. So, I will also be waiting for the summer to get a ps3.
Look on the bright side. You'll have more games to choose from by the summer.

For those of us that are planning on getting Oblivion for the PS3, IGN provides some good news: http://ps3.ign.com/articles/762/762108p1.html
It's nice to see that Bethesda has used the delay from launch to make real improvements to the game.

I notice it most on music games like guitar hero and ddr. I get around it by running the sound through my stereo and it works great.

If I were you I would probably wait until March to see if anything you really like comes out exclusively for the PS3. Other than Resistance there's nothing that really jumps out at the moment. If Lair or Motorstorm or something else trips your trigger then go for it.
-
I doubt they'll lower the price any time soon. I would guess at least 2 years before that happens. Winter is always a good time to build up stock so there are enough units available for some big game releases in March. It will be interesting to see how well the PS3 sells during it's Euro/Aus launch. They should have an abundance of consoles ready to go by mid-March.

Isn't the 20GB version the PS3 equivalent to the CORE 360? Lame and unwanted?
The 20GB PS3 is a lot more capable than the core 360. The core 360 is actually completely *missing* a major component. All the 20GB PS3 is missing is wi-fi and a memory card slot - two things that the pro 360 doesn't have either, and which aren't directly related to gaming.
It was different when Sony originally planned to not include HDMI with the 20GB version. That would have made it a certified tardbox. But it's got HDMI, it's got a hard drive, it's got everything else its big brother has for games and video output, just no wireless and no memory slots.
I'd probably go with the 60GB myself if the difference is just $100, but if I could get a 20GB for $329, I wouldn't worry about what I was missing. I think the stuff the 20GB is lacking is probably worth about $120, so the 60GB is normally worth it... but wouldn't be if the difference was more than that. (Remember that the PS3 also uses standard hard drives, so you can always upgrade your 20GB hard drive later.) None of it matters for games either.
The pro 360 has 2 memory card slots. It also has a slot for a hard drive. THe only difference between the 360 models are the hard drive and what controller it comes with. Much easier to upgrade than the PS3, where you pretty much have to buy a whole new unit

Don't stop there, keep throwing out your bs and prove your absolute ignorance of reality.

The HDD isn't required to play on the 360 though I would agree it is a major component. But, the core 360 can be upgraded to have everything the premium has which seperates it from the PS3 in which you can never actually have everything the 60g version has on your 20g version.
Name something that the 60gb version has that you can't add to the 20gb.

I would suggest trying LocoRoco. You can download a demo of it on the playstation website.

I have no idea what it changes from 1.32 but apparently I can't go online again until I get it. Here's hoping it doesn't brick my system.

I read it mostly is a PS1/PS2 BC update. IGN tested a few games that had problems before the update, and now they seem to run fine.

Championship Sprint is a 1/2 player game.
There were 4 cars racing in the game. It's not like it would be difficult to have all 4 cars controlled by people.

-
Just read on IGN that Midway is releasing 6 games this year in the Playstation Store for downloading:
Mortal Kombat II
Gauntlet II
Joust
Rampage World Tour
Rampart
Championship Sprint
Rampart and Gauntlet II could really be fun multi-player games on the PS3 and I'm looking forward to them!
Mendon
I had a lot of fun with Rampart on the Lynx. Here's hoping they make a great version for the PS3. Gauntlet II and Championship Sprint could be great 4 player games. Here's hoping they turn out good.

The fact is that gamers want game systems, not augmented video-disc players.
The FACT is that different gamers like different consoles for different reasons.

Zool 2 all the way. Bubsy just isn't fun.

Best Buy held back their PS3 shipments for today so they could advertise it in their weekly add. I went there about 20 minutes after the store opened, walked in, only had to wait behind a guy buying a PS3 and 4 games for his son, bought mine, and walked out. No waiting in long lines in the rain before the store opens. No calling the store to find out they just sold the last one. No obnoxious salespeople talking out their a**. Just a nice and easy transaction. Patience does have its rewards.
Now I can finally play all the games and movies I got on sale before christmas.
Have a Happy New Year!

Just as an update, the how-to guide from gamersreport was 100% active and easy to follow. I used a $9 PC toolkit from OfficeMax and the hard drive I got from NewEgg and even though I was being extra careful and going slow I had the whole thing done in 10 minutes. I'd honestly say it was the EASIEST computer related upgrade I've ever done - I've put in new video cards, new modems, ethernet cards, and new hard drives before, and never once have I had a procedure that was (1.) pop off the plastic tab (2.) unscrew the docking tray, (3.) pull it out and unscrew the old drive, (4.) put the new drive in and the screws back in place, and (5.) redo everything you undid to get it open. Booted it up and the PS3 asked me right away if I wanted to format the new drive, I said yes. It finished quickly, the system rebooted, and I now have 97 of 111 usable GB free (apparently the system reserves about 14 for itself). I feel a little smug right now because I have more HD in my cheap $500 PS3 than people who stood in line waiting to get the $600 with the 60 GB. Hell if I decide that's not enough space I may upgrade again! Anybody want my old drive?

Congratulations!
Now all you have to do is try to fill it up.

Are you going to try YDL on it?

I assumed this download should have worked straight off the bat like Blast Factor and Gran Turismo HD, but after paying for it I got that familiar Syphon Filter error message: 80025964 (a number I'm coming to dread). Just to be sure I double checked the game and it's described as a PS3 title with HD quality graphics over and over again, so I know I didn't mistakenly buy another PSOne download. LMK if you bought this and got a working download of it.
Did the demo work ok when you downloaded it?

I haven't tried yesasia.com, but they seem to have quite a bit of stuff.

Going by the last few posts the number of fanboys doesn't seem to be changing, but the amount of bulls*&t coming from the established ones is up at least 90%.

Good news for Oblivion on the PS3.

Did anyone else notice they showed Heavenly Sword being played full screen for a few seconds during the show? I was pretty surprised they showed that game. AFAIK it's not supposed to be released for quite a while.
