  1. If that's all there is to it then I just need to find someone to burn the ROM. That would be soooo sweet to have the fixed version on cart.
  2. Some already have, actually. They've apparently gone through 3 updates since J launch. HOW? They need a controller port for that. I'd like to see the adapter to use the GunCon on an HDMI setup, though. They already have controller ports, the usb ones. A regular usb to playstation controller adapter lets you connect them but acording to IGN you have to push the analog button when starting up PS1 and PS2 games. That's fine for regular dual-shocks but none of the special controllers have analog buttons. You should be able to just push the x button or something to start it up.
  3. It's interesting how many complaints there are about backward compatibility of just the software. I'm sure many of these problem games can be fixed with a firmware update. A bigger problem imho is not being able to use our PS guitars, drums, dance pads etc. with the PS3. They need a firmware update to correct that as well.
  4. I only played the demo and thought it was pretty good, so I wouldn't pass up a deal like that.
  5. I picked up GH2 Tuesday, but only because I had a 1 day only coupon from Meijer for $20 off any game priced at $49.95 or more. No way I was spending $79.99. Just goes to show you, Activision takes over and the price goes up $10.
  6. First, when was that last time he made a game? Second, Is he getting kickbacks from XBL or something?
  7. I would like some info on canibalizing my cart if possible.
  8. I've never compared them side by side but I think they did a pretty decent job with the 7800 version. If only someone would take our flawed Impossible Mission carts and convert them to the 'fixed' version for a fee that would be cool.
  9. I think the earliest we will find out what is going on is Monday morning. If it does turn out to be legit, orders should be limited to 1 per person/household imho.
  10. I definitely don't run Linux for no real purpose. It is my main OS. I use it for gaming, office, browsing, e-mail, irc, etc. etc. I also make a living developing for it. I do agree that it will be an easy way in for hackers though. I run Linux as my main OS as well... but would you seriously buy a PS3 with the intent to use it as a computer? I certainly wouldn't. --Zero If you did use it as a computer, at least you wouldn't have to upgrade the graphics card every year.
  11. I don't see how the PS2 comparisons apply, since this time around everyone can have free access to it.
  12. Does this mean we'll be seeing some good emulators on the PS3?
  13. The memory card thing is ok, but I would much rather have a usb to PS/PS2 controller adapter, so I could use all my current guitars, drums, steering wheels and dance pads.
  14. I've only played the demo, but LocoRoco is a nice diversion from the standard fare.
  15. I think it would be fine for some games, especially sports games. I'm sure EA won't allow you to download just the new team rosters for their games though since they have always added the least amount of updates for the biggest cost to the consumer. Games like the announced GT HD are a rip-off IMHO. Paying extra for all the cars and tracks is a joke. I can only hope people won't be suckered in to it, but I'm sure the die-hards won't be able to help themselves. Like everything else, if you don't like it, don't buy it.
  16. According to this interview: http://www.gamespot.com/news/6158493.html?...estnews;title;0 the 20 GB PS3 will have an HDMI connection worldwide. It looks like Sony does make good decisions once in a while. I would think a change like that would have an impact on the number of 20gb models available at launch. Wouldn't they at least need a new case mold for the new connection? My guess would be they made the decision to include HDMI on all models right before they announced the changes to shipment numbers and the delay of release in europe, but that's just a guess.
  17. I have quite a few working ones and project games including: Star Wars Tempest Gravitar Space Duel Food Fight Dragon's Lair Space Ace Team Quarterback Gyruss APB Crystal Castles Marble Madness Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom Roadblasters Road Runner Peter Pack Rat Crossbow Cheyenne Asteroids Sprint 2 Indiana Jones pinball I also have a bunch of project Atari pinball machines.
  18. It seems to me that the cheaper version is for people that aren't interested in the movie player part of the machine, they just want to play the games. And just because you 'think' the component output isn't capable of 1080p for games doesn't mean it isn't.
  19. Since I have an HDTV set with an HDMI input I would definitely prefer the $599 model. That 80% estimate for the premium model is higher than I thought it would be. I'm still waiting to see how they will be distrubuted to stores and whether it will be better to preorder one or just go to a non-game store on release day.
  20. I agree. If it would have been released in 84 when it was done and the big advertising campaign during the olympics went forward as planned I think it would have done quite well.
  21. Are you just assuming that eventually, everything will be released on Blu-Ray? Or do you look at lists to decide? If something is instead going to be on HD-DVD and not Blu-Ray, are you going to just get the DVD, or wait and see if a Blu-Ray version comes out? I don't plan to get a PS3 any time soon (or any other Blu-Ray/HD-DVD player for that matter), but if I were, then I'd probably hold back on buying ANY DVD at all until I knew what the HD plans were. --Zero I just look to see what studio made the film and if they're in the hd-dvd camp I buy the dvd. I'm mostly waiting to see how much new Disney stuff makes it to blue-ray, like Cars and The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe.
  22. You must not have understood the topic. It was a question for people who WANT to buy a PS3 this fall.
  23. Are any of you holding off on buying some movies on DVD knowing they will probably be out on blue-ray in the near future? There are a few current and future releases I would buy on DVD if I wasn't planning on getting a PS3.
  24. I think it would be fun, it's just a matter of finding time to play. Once the leaves start falling I'm sure you'll find more interest.
