  1. Did someone say pie rats? C'mon guys, I'm sure they're all perfectly legal backups.
  2. I finally downloaded the Loco Roco demo to my psp to try it out. It's a pretty cool game. Probably the most fun I've had with a puzzle game in quite a while. Definitely try it out if you get a chance. It would be a perfect downloadable game for the PS3 with it's tilt controller too.
  3. IMO, the only way this would be good is if the people that got screwed out of their money on the catbox fiasco got the profits from the sale of these carts. : P
  4. I hope to be able to provide an image to anyone who buys a cart. I may consider selling bins alone a little later after the carts have sold for a little bit. Well, get moving, I just sent out the second shipment yesterday :-) . Just kidding on the get moving. I would rather have the manual look good and not be rushed. --Ken I agree. We can wait a little while longer to make sure we get a nice manual. ^^
  5. Every amount listed is a guess since Nintendo hasn't announced any of their pricing yet.
  6. Actually, you don't need to buy a new tv. You will however need a new tuner to receive digital signals from an antenna. Digital tv set top boxes have switches on the back to adjust the output to match your tv.
  7. No gamers gonna want the stripped down version any more then they wanted the stripped down 360. Also you can recharge the 360 controllers via the USB ports...or from a wall unit. You still need a rechargable battery pack to recharge. Do you have confirmation that the PS3 controllers come with a rechargable battery pack? So your logic is that a bluetooth wireless controller that is rechargeable through the usb port that is packed in with a new system won't include a battery pack? That has to be one of the dumbest things I ever heard.
  8. According to Sony's press release there will be a $499 version. Add on a game and tax and $600 is about right. As far as the controllers go, they will be rechargeable through the usb ports. Doesn't anyone do research to get facts any more?
  9. I have a hunch that part of the reason a lot of people are complaining about blu-ray is because they won't be able to copy the games. Of the ones who shout the most, I wonder how many have illegal copies of games and movies? Naturally it's only a matter of time before they'll be able to duplicate blu-ray software. But for now, to all you bootleggers out there, go take a long walk off a short pier.
  10. Yes it's true, the federal government is just as good at wasting taxpayer dollars as AA posters are at complaining about sony.
  11. I think gamers should be excited that there will be 3 different new consoles to choose from by the end of the year. This time it looks like we have more options. I realize they're getting too expensive for one person to buy all of them any more, but that's what friends are for. It's always been more fun going to a friend's house to play games than playing on-line, imho. Anyone else excited about the choices we have?
  12. The problem here though is you are taking a kickass signal from a digital device, turning it into an analog signal which goes into another digital device. It's almost as if you are defeting the purpose. I know most people don't care, but I would prefer no signal loss when possible. This was and is my biggest complaint about the 360. HD era? Not through analog IMO. Well this what I was thinking...why have the Blu-Ray player at all if you're going to omit the HDMI port? An analogy that's alot more drastic but to put it in perspective...are DVD players best viewed through RF? Blu-Ray without HDMI is crippling the Blu-Ray advantages...you can't really view what Blu-Ray does with Component cables, you NEED the HDMI cable. Personally I wouldn't buy a PS3 for the Blu-Ray anyway, but this is what alot of Sony's marketing plan is. It all depends on the size of your tv and its inputs. The bigger the picture, the easier it is to tell the difference. You can still get a nice picture from component cables, but of course an HDMI cable would be best. I read that less than 25% of american homes have an hdtv, so it's not really that big a leap to decide to have 2 different versions. Resolution is one advantage but the other is the amount of information that can be stored on a disc. Looking at it from a game player's perspective, you never have to worry about not having enough storage space on a disc. I don't think it's unreasonable that the PS3 could last longer than 5 years, and to a slightly lesser extent the 360. With the multiple processors and the fairly advanced graphics card outputting the highest level of HD, it could be quite a while before they max out its capabilities. Maybe it'll last 7 years. As always, only time will tell. At any rate, it's still better than upgrading the graphics card on your pc every other year.
  13. I guess this is the part i find silly. People act like it's a sin to make something that does more than play games. Sony shouldn't be allowed to make such a thing. Apparently Sony doesn't make any good products. The only reason they have been around so long is because they tricked us into buying their stuff. As far as Sony trying to make money, are you serious?? OMFG!!! No-one should be able to make money. They should all be like Atari and go out of business. Maybe even twice with a name change. It's a good thing Microsoft and Nintendo aren't trying to make money or all gamers would be totally screwed. Can you see the humor yet? People on these boards need to lighten up a bit, don't ya think? I know a few who never will of course. P.S. Just because we think something is too expensive doesn't make it a bad product.
  14. It's been a couple months, so I was just wondering if anyone heard anything acout the status of FB2 rev c. Anyone?
  15. Yeah, you're right. I'm sure it has nothing to do with Sony being able to make more money off of Blue-Ray than off of DVD players. Nope, it's all about what we'll be able to do on the system 5 years from now when it's being replaced by the PS4 anyway; it's just that Sony wants to set a new standard and have a console that lasts forever, because no one at all will upgrade when the other companies force their hand. No sir. Sony would stick to their guns because gamers aren't easily impressed by new and exciting technology and won't leave the PS3 like rats off a sinking ship. By the way, I have a bridge you may be interested in. The PS3 will be being replaced in 5-6 years, tops, just like everything else. A typical blowhard response. A typical unthinking response from someone who considers ad copy to be facts. You mean to say there was a fact in your previous comments? I guess you'll have to teach me the secret code that reveals them.
  16. Yeah, you're right. I'm sure it has nothing to do with Sony being able to make more money off of Blue-Ray than off of DVD players. 17. Every time someone states the Blu-Ray format is being forced upon them I . Part of the idea of trying to make this console last longer than 5 years is by having a large storage media from which to stream all that high-res texture data. I can just imagine how much complaing there would be if you had to switch dvd's during a game.
  18. They never said the only difference was the size of the hard drive, they used the size of the drive as a way to name the 2 models.
  19. Lots of people get a little too hyped up around E3 with all the talk of what's good, what's not, who won, who lost, etc. Maybe one day people can just enjoy all the cool new hardware and software that we get to see. Yeah, that'll be the day. Looking at both versions of the PS3, the internal hardware for playing games and watching movies is the same. They both have a removable hard drive so developers don't have to wonder how many do vs. how many don't (aka 360) and you can always switch out the 20gb drive for a bigger one if you want. The controller is the same. Both have online support out of the box. And both are expensive. The differences aren't as important as some people are saying, and whether or not these extra features are worth another $100 is up to the consumer. The most obvious one is the HDMI connection. People with big screen TV's that don't have an HDMI connection are not going to run out and buy a new TV just for that. Besides, component cables still support high-def signals up to 1080i. The memory card slot is not a big deal since you can easily hook up a card reader through one of the USB ports. The Wi-Fi connection doesn't mean much if you don't have a PSP, and once again, since there are USB ports built in, connecting equipment to the PS3 is no problem. The $599 version of the PS3 just has a few more bells and whistles than the $499 version, and just because it's made for the millions of people who enjoy their home theater systems doesn't make it a bad product. Jeff
  20. I am. Here's hoping they have a lot of cool new songs. The 2 player option in the first Guitar Hero was lame, so I'm glad they are adding more 2 player variations. I still wish it would play the note off key when you miss instead of just hearing that stupid plink, it would add to the impression that you're really playing the song imho. Also, everybody knows that it's basically a rip-off of Guitar Freaks so why not just get it over with and add in a Drummania clone as well. ^^
  21. I'll have to agree with starscream on this one.
  22. Sony always said the PS3 wasn't going to be cheap, and it isn't. Big surprise. I like the TV comparison. If you just want to watch tv, any cheap one at the store will do, but if you want to watch tv in hd you'll have to spend a lot more. No one is forcing you to buy the expensive one, it's your choice. Personally, I can't wait to watch hd movies on my tv. One good thing about the 2 versions is that they both have hdd's included. The stuff they left out of the cheaper version isn't of much consequence either. Component output still supports up to 1080i, so if your tv doesn't have hdmi support, you don't need the expensive version. The wi-fi feature and the other memory slots are kind of a bonus since both versions have usb connections. PS3 is the only system that offers enough to really be considered next-gen imho.
