  1. I certainly wouldn't! Never heard of the XE series in the day only had a 2600. When my partner got into ebay a while ago I bought a 2600 to replace the one I had as a kid, while hunting for games I bought a XEGS with games for £3.50 on the off chance, came here after to see what I had bought! Great system, worth owning for star raiders and final legacy alone in my opinion. Frogger is also really good & moon patrol. Considering trying to get a tape deck and games but have heard they take forever to load, not 30secs like the supercharger. So only using carts so far. Also Atariage prompted me to get a Lynx, another sysyetm i had never heard of and really like. Yep so no internet, no atari's for me. best, chris
  2. Hey Rom, still trying to get access to a scanner, gotta a pile of stuff now to do for you, will try my friend again and see if he has got his working yet!

  4. Hi Walter, recieved my cart this morning, thanks! Just wanted to say it's a cool game, my partner who doesn't normally play Atari (except Frogger), really loves it, she spent about two hours on it so far, we WILL see that end sequence. Thanks again! Chris
  5. It's pretty much the case with my business witch is Classic motorcycles.
  6. Once a game is loaded, the format of the supercharger (PAL or NTSC) doesn't matter anymore. I use my NTSC supercharger with PAL consoles to load PAL games and it works perfectly. The only difference with a PAL supercharger is that the load screen (the starfield with "REWIND TAPE","PRESS PLAY" and "STOP TAPE" flashing text) is displayed at 60 Hz (and maybe with different sequence of colors in the flashing text). Most European TV handle 60Hz without problem. Just use PAL roms/tapes with your supercharger. So : NTSC SC + PAL ROM + PAL console = OK NTSC SC + NTSC ROM + PAL console = KO I have to try again. How to check if a .bin is PAL or NTSC (if no information about) ? I use a NTSC 'charger, tapes on a PAL console and TV and it's fine, some of the colours are off is all.
  7. I like this it is very calm and mellow, a nice change, could i suggest that the sea creatures have to follow the maze as well? Look forward to a final cart release I plan to purchase the original soon & have the travi cart(i believe also based on gosub) on the way. thanks! Chris
  8. I like this, the graphics look great and the concept is really fun, think your onto a winner, looking forward to seeing how you progress. Best regards & thanks! Chris
  9. Hi All, I have just ordered my first set of homebrews, made a bit of extra cash on a motorcycle restoration so thought i'd splash out. It's great, feels like ordering new games from the silica shop catalogue in the '80's. Anyhow I got Lady Bug, Space Treat, This planet sucks! & Dark mage. What do you folks reckon on the selections? Wanted to try dark mage as I remember sitting with my dad typing in a game on our Aquarius from a magazine that seems very similar(I never really got into computers much in the 80's, or now for that matter). The only other homebrew I have ordered ever is Travi last week, so this all feels new and cool to me. Best regards, Chris
  10. Never had or played a NES but they are about the sames as Sega Master System right? If so then how about Ghostbusters?
  11. Yep, I'll go with Reactor and tac-scan(my favourite paddles game), not played Buck rogers or Krull. Sounds like I should. Best regards, Chris
  12. 1. Dig Dug one of Atari's arcade conversions no-one seems to mention, great fun! 2. Tape Worm. Lots of fun and a good memory test on the dark levels. 3. Solar Fox, fast frantic dot collecting. 4. Fantastic Voyage, River Raid with a neat premise and saving life, not killing:) 5. Crash Dive, good shooter, very underrated in my opinion. 6. Ghostbusters, very original, fun and great music. OK it's more than 5 but well...... Best regards, Chris
  13. Got to say I disagree with a lot of these Communist mutants is by far my favorite Galaxian type game, much nicer than Phoenix, Galaxian, Demon Attack, gorf, etc.I really like the alien designs. Dragonstomper is also a cracking game, far more depth than Adventure in my opinion. Phaser Patrol is by far the best of it's kind also, The Atari Star Raiders is poor, specially as it was released a year later, Star Voyager is OK but has none of the strategy, Starmaster is good but has none of Phasers polish but not a bad game by any means. Frogger on 'charger is also excellent it's nearly as good as the superlative Atari 8-bit version, it has all the feature of the arcade, nice graphics and sounds. OK I'm a Starpath/Arcadia fan, but I don't see much out there that's better than these titles. I'll also defend Beamrider, Yep you only shoot stuff then repeat but that probably describes 50% of the atari library, I like this one too. A couple of games I see mentioned often in a positive light are Wizard of Wor and Chopper command, neither of these are the best of there kind, again only in my opinion of course, enjoy them both for what they are however. The game I reckon is most overrated on the forum however is Airlock, how anyone can like this I don't get, maybe I am missing something(probably) but I think it's horrible, had it back in 1983 and hated it then too(of course I still have it ) Best regards, Chris
  14. I only have OSX, can't use OS9 on the Intel Mac mini & my old Os9 iMac is very dead
  15. I'd love a jaws game, my favourite film since I first saw it! "were gonna need a bigger boat."
  16. I'd offer to help with mine, but they are all NTSC. All my 'charger games are NTSC, got them in trades with folks here on Atariage, they play fine over here, even the colours are good on most. If you could help much appreciated
  17. Anyone know where I can download the audio tracks or Mp3's for the games, I have a near full original collection of Arcadia/Starpath games but would like to save wear on the tapes, the makewav thing seems to be for windows PC's and I have a Mac. Be nice just to put them all on a CD. Thanks, Chris
  18. http://www.retrology.com/radofin.htm Whole bunch of clones made for this system. Have this game along with a few others & the console up for sale in the market place if anyone is interested. Take £8 + shipping for the lot! Best regards, Chris
  19. if you are using a walkman youmay need to use side B of the tape.
  20. Thanyou very much, I agree the 7800 is definetly the simpler solution as I have soldering skill akin to those of a three toed tree sloth.
  21. Got my games off revs very fast and in full working order, wouldn't esitate to trade again. Thanks Chris
  22. Got my Romscanner from River today, really quick from USA to England, brilliant packing and it's just as he described it. Would get more stuff no worries. Thanks chap! Chris
  23. Hi all, I have a six switch PAL VCS and a number of games with one or both of the tangs that open the dust protector on the slot missing. This makes it either very hard or impossible to insert the carts into the machine. Is there a way of safely removing the dust protector from the console so I can use these carts(why is it always the rare stuff missing these tangs?). I would use the 7800 instead but the cart slot on that is too tight to take a lot of my 2600 carts. Thanks folks! Chris
  24. LOL you should see the box art, really freaky too! Thanks for the playing tips, never would have figured this out otherwise. I'll take a pic of the box later and post, you have to see it. Best, Chris
