  1. PAL Empire strikes back is missing it's music. NTSC Battlezone doesn't play well on my PAL setup, the colours are screwed and it flickers into black & white. Chris
  2. Here's a few pics of my game room. First up are Spectrum 128K +, Dragon 32, Sega Megadrive & Mega CD. Next Atari & Sega games shelf, G7000 & Vectrex. Next the games cupboard with mostly Speccy games & videopacs + 2 cool boxed Character joysticks(Bart & Batman). Close pic of the boxed atari etc stuff. Finally my old Sony TV with the 2600 & XE GS.
  3. I have one, can't have cost me more than 50p either, got it in a bundle off ebay years ago. Chris
  4. Got a Colecovision & the GB Burgertime Deluxe now. Thanks! Chris
  5. Perhaps if you add the XEGS, 7800 & 2600 together it may have been No.2 in the USA. Here in UK Sega totally trounced the NES and Atari was nowhere to be seen, I didn't know of the existance of the 7800 or XEGS until i found atari age a few years back!
  6. Actually, it's not an ME-109 or a Spitfire, but a weird combo of both. The ME-109 and Spitfire do have similar appearances and design philosophies, including a very similar looking canopy and landing gear system. The plane on the label, however, has the exhaust pipes and intake of an ME-109 combined with the canopy and nose propeller housing of a Spitfire, as well as several parts that neither had. While the paint scheme may look German, the British actually painted early versions of the Spitfire in that paint scheme in an attempt to trick the German anti-aircraft gunners. Ultimately, they gave it up when friendly fire shot some Spitfires down. Post war both the Czechs & Spanish built there own 109 fighter with different powerplants, the spanish used a RR Merlin as powered the Spiffire. Here's the wiki link. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hispano_Aviaci%C3%B3n_HA-1112 IFAIK the Czech aircraft used Hispano-suiza power. Chris

  8. I agree with the OP, I sold my 7800 after a few months as it never got played, the RF on mine wasn't as good as my old six switch 2600 so I never even used it for VCS games. Didn't even think that much of the pads to be honest. not my favourite Atari it has to be said, down really get the ST either though so guess i'm controversial there too, Tramiel Atari's just don't seem to have the magic of the oldies. Best, Chris
  9. Have added the scan to the scans for rom thread, just mention in case that thread gets buried. Chris
  10. Well the post woman brought me a ton of cool stuff today(our mail is like the buses, nothing for ages then it all comes at once!). Got the following and am well chuffed! Beef Drop for the XE from the Atari Age store(cheers Al!). Awesome game BTW. Moon Patrol for the XE CIB 2600 Sky Skipper New unplayed copy! 2600 Reactor complete. 2600 Bermuda Triangle international edition CIB. 2600 Joust cart. 2600 Mouse trap CBS cart. 2600 Realsports Boxing cart. 2600 Circus weird green label version. atari Adventures in sound talking book on tape. Apart from Circus and reactor all these games are new to me, so that's my gaming goodness sorted for a good while I reckon that Beef Drop is going to get some serious play for a long time, best thing I've bought since Lady bug! Just wanted to share my happiness Chris
  11. Hi All, I recieved this audio cassette today that i thought maybe of interest, any one seen(or more relevant heard) this before? If it is not already on the 'net(and i couldn't find anything about it at all), I'll try and make Mp3's(might need a little help here folks). Best, Chris
  12. 2178, by my lovely girlfriend Lucy, she loves this game and always participates when frogger comes up on the high score club.
  13. Hi Rom, Here's the scan of the Green Circus as promised. I notice on the atari age site there is a comment saying the game is modded for joystick use, this is not the case for the cart i have, it is paddle control the same as the Atari release. I can't see anything strange about the game or different from the original release. The cart is the same style as the green asteroids I mentioned to you before(man i wish i hadn't chucked it out!). One possibly interesting thing is there are visible electronic components on the board(see pic). Was this cart officially licenced, the Atari corp at least gives us some kind of timeframe on it's release. Best regards, Chris
  14. don't know if this is any help, but here is the release list for the UK Artic Computing. http://www.worldofspectrum.org/infoseekpub...uting+Ltd$ Chris
  15. Well I won that Circus, so will do the scan when it arrives. Best, Chris
  16. Well the neighbours who gave the carts probably in 1986-1987 were oil platform workers, and worked away a lot, he told me that they were all games they had on the rigs and came from all over, i know he worked in the north sea, scotland, kuwait and other locations so the origin of the game is hard to say. It was definetly an all Green label, i remeber the text being Black however, the cart i think was similar to the Telegames type shell. As I said the autual game was meteor defence.
  17. So how about the Asteroids then Rom, is that an unknown? I chucked it out years ago as it was stood on and the shell smashed I'm bidding on the Circus, if I get it I'll do you a scan.
  18. Marathon 2 should run just fine. It only requires a 68040. My Quadra 950 handles it without a problem. Perhaps I remember 3 being slow, the 6200 was a real dog of a Mac, didn't really perform better than my old Quadra 700! Been a lot of years Anyhow the pippin looks really cool, hope to see lots of updates on it here, I love old mac's still have a 540c, G3 powerbook 250mhz, 6500/275 & LC. All bought new, shudder to think of the cost now! I have been using Mac's since the 512K Plus, wouldn't have anything else! Yeah, Marathon Infinity was a bit more intensive, but IIRC it still ran pretty well on a 68040. The requirements on my "Bungie Mac Action Sack" says 68040. Maybe I'll pull out the 950 later and give it a good test. Some of the original PowerMac's were pretty crippled and didn't run much better than the 68040's. Combine that with having to translate all the 68k code in the OS and other software and that made the situation worse. I've been using Mac's since the IIsi... almost as long as you! If you like old Mac's you should check out my computer collection link in my sig! I think I have one or two of them... Ah of course! Forgot the code translation that used to happen on the 68k/ppc stuff. Love your collection BTW I still have (in storage), LC, LC2, Q700, 6500/275, 7100/66. I also have my PB 540C(blackbird) & G3(kanga) laptop's here, my missus is writing a book on the 540C in Claris :0 We used to have two Q950's at work, man they were big and loud, had 16 simm slots 7 loads of nubus slots If I remember right? The mac i always wanted was a IIFX, that was a beast!
  19. Thanks bud. I think I got a good deal on it as well. 165 and I got a free game. And the thing is literally not faded at all, it looks brand new. Can't wait to show it off . Nice one, look forward to hearing how it goes!
  20. Back in the eighties a neighbour gave me some loose 2600 games one of which was a green label Asteroids, the game on the cart i later found out was Meteor defence ITT family games. I no longer have the green cart but while browsing ebay spotted a circus with the same label which is what made me remember this. It doesn't seem to be on the atarimania database. Anyone know anything about this cart? I have included the pic of the circus from ebay.

  22. OK I just looked at the Wiki entry for Pippin, what a funky looking system! love the Pad, but Yep it's based on a 603 66mhz cpu(Slower than any 603 mac used) & only has 5 mb RAM using sys 7.5. marathon2 is going to be tedious unless the Pippin version was heavily optimized or the Pippin had a damn impressive video accelerator that wasn't used in the 603 mac's.
  23. Really depends if you like 1- on -1 fighting games? The Neo seems to have little else readily available, I don't so sold mine after a few weeks, it's also big, and loads slowly and feels very cheaply made. I don't know much about the Pipin apart from it was based on a Mac PPC 603 right? As far as quirky goes the Pippin has the win in my book! I love fighters, but yea.. the neo geo seems very cheaply made. I love the pippin.. i really do. I just want to be sure I'll be able to play something on it. Bungie.net has the precursers to Halo, Marathon 1, 2 and 3, that were on the pippin for free on download. But im not 100% sure if i burn these to a cd, if the pippin will recognize it.. Don't know if they will work or not, but I had a Powermac 6200(603 75Mhz CPU, 48mb RAM) back when they were new and they struggled to achieve any kind of frame rate, if the pippin is ased on similar hardware that i suspect it is them, good Luck!
