  1. Used to play this quite a bit back in the day when I first got it! It was great for what it was and surely pushed the abilities of the 2600, but it was definitely "neutered" in comparison to other ports, namely the excellent port of it on the NES. The lack of jump kicks and jump punches was a definite disappointment to me... I only wish I knew enough about programming in batari to fix this glaring ommission personally, that's one of the very few things that's missing that would make it a nearly perfect port for the 2600 within it's abilities IMHO. All in all, like most of the activision/absolute arcade ports of the late 80s/early 90s, it's a noble effort,(and one of the better attempts compared to say, Rampage) but perhaps just beyond the abilities of the 2600 to give a faithful port of the arcade game.
  2. Well... I'm glad you actually got that joke, surprising honestly. In spite of my sarcasm, here's a clue, being a dick when giving your said opinion doesn't win you points with me or anyone else in life. Getting defensive? No my good man, I fully realize the capability of a game that is 20 something years old on a system that is nearly as old as myself, I have no desire to defend it in that regard aside from it is a game I grew up with that I still enjoy.(probably because I actually know how to play it) My issue with your so called opinion, is that's it's pretty pathetic if you can't spend more than 5 minutes to read the manual to learn how to play and yet, still call it a "steaming pile of deuce", because that's the general impression I'm getting. To me that smacks of laziness and I find it rather insulting to others if you're willing to give an opinion about it, at least TRY to learn how to play and give it a chance BEFORE you call it crap. Again, if you want to give your opinion about something, that's great, it's why I love the freedom we enjoy in the USA of the right of free speech. That doesn't however entitle you to be a dick about it either though. If me calling you out on it is considering whining to you, well then here's a glass full for ya pal. Cheers. P.S. Sorry OP, but some people just don't get it. I'm done here.
  3. Or the fact that's just merely your opinion. Do you like making completely redundant and pointless observations, or are you simply unaware that IMO = "in my opinion?" Still, I defy anybody to name a worse wrestling game than this one that can be had for a home console. I've certainly never played one, and wrestling games were my favorite back in the day. Going from full energy to nothing in 3 seconds from a few punches and kicks FTW. Only to point out you're being a dick obviously... Either that or you missed my very subtle sarcasm, so take your pick. So well, hey you don't like the game... That's spectacular, good for you! So here, have some cake with your whine... As far as horrible Atari games goes, this is far from it. As far as wrestling games goes? Sorry, but Mat Mania was always a real POS for a wrestling game to me so... I enjoyed Title Match Pro Wrestling more than I did it by far, even in spite of being for the 7800 with it's "superior graphics". In the meantime, excuse me while I try to help others actually learn now to play this game and get somewhere on it... And uh, yea, thanks for all that you do sir. Goodday to you...
  4. Or the fact that's just merely your opinion. Guys, reading the manual reveals that the controls require certain key presses and controller movements to perform moves and execute them. The stamina bar also plays a big factor in whether or not you can overpower the cpu opponent and perform a move on them.(or you take the chance at getting within their grabbing range and get stomped on the mat) Simply put, if your stamina is lower than theirs and they get into grabbing range, you're dead meat! Granted, the computer controlled opponents can be rather ruthless and waaaaaayyy overpowered due to the fact they can always "out-muscle" you(by jiggling the joystick, aka "muscle mode", much faster than any of us ever could via the game's code when both players have zero stamina left), but there are ways to work around that and still defeat them. Namely, if you stand still in a spot in the ring where the CPU opponent is out of reach,(ring corners work best) you will slowly build up stamina while they keep walking and deplete their stamina. You can also use strategically placed punches and shin kicks to help speed this up. This is KEY to defeating them as you cannot keep them pinned on the mat with a certain amount of stamina regardless of how fast you can jiggle that joystick. Honestly, start a two-player game and practice the moves and learn the controls on a "dummy player". It's not that terribly complicated and easier than you think IMHO, aside from trying to throw someone out of the ring at times... Hope this helps!
  5. I salute the Navy SEAL Team Six, today they are heroes of the USA! Ding dong, the witch is dead!!!

  6. Soooo conflicted here... I loooovvveee Atari... BUT... I hate APPLE, *blah* @ ITunes. *facepalm* Dunno if I would want to deal with an Iphone bad enough to have this much Atari on the go...
  7. Since our days are now shorter due to massive recent earthquakes affecting planet rotation, does that mean we have less work during the day to do?

  9. Congrats on making it that far 2d Gamer! Only once in my entire life have I actually made it to the Cobra fleets in the sector where Solaris is and actually defeated one of them I think.(I can get to Solaris pretty easy on the trainer version with infinite lives) Sadly the second one defeated me... Talk about pissed... The Raiders and Mechanoids get downright nasty at that point in the game but are defeatable with practice,(take the Raiders and Mechs at long range if you can) the Cobra fleets however, are a utter nightmare. My only suggestions to you are to learn to track, target and destroy them as quickly as possible, which I'm sure is easier said than done. The added hazard of a red-zone will only seriously complicate things I'm sure... Now to the Cobra ships... Those things are a tough nut to crack as they are VERY erratic with movement and firing. However, I've had an easier time once I figured out a simple tactic, flying up and down to "scroll them up" then to the left or right without colliding with them near you for a quick shot. It's rather risky and not recommended if you haven't practiced it enough, but with practice you can get a much easier shot at them up close for a second, which is all you'll need if you're a good shot. OH yes, not sure if you know this or not, but if your targeting computer get damaged, learn to use the numbers on each side for up-down and left-right position to try to pin-point your target. Didn't know what those were exactly for the longest time, talk about a eureka moment! Bottom line, this game gets mind-numbingly hard when you see Solaris for the first time in it's sector 2d Gamer. By the time you get to the sector right before returning to the "Solaris sector" to take on the three Cobra fleets there and reach planet Solaris, is by far the most trying part, namely due to the red-zone. The Cobras however are VERY frustrating, even without being a red-zone. Shot placement and timing is highly crucial to taking them down quickly and without losing ships. Here's a map of all the sectors by the way: http://skintigh.tripod.com/atari/solaris.html Hope this helps!
  10. AWESOME work on Adventure "Enhanced" KevinMos3 and Nukey Shay! Much improved graphics! Can't wait to see even more newer content to it!
  11. DONE! (scroll down) Thank KevinMos3! http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/154984-hack-project-thread-works-in-progress/
  12. Awesome first effort Diogoandrei! Really great job so far, I'm looking forward to possibly more content and more polish with Havoc Bug!
  13. Verified. I beat it once years ago on real Atari hardware, the ending is rather... A letdown to say the least. It's a simple "DUN dun DUNNNNN" sound as the last base explodes with you safely in your ship. Thankfully the journey was more fun than the destination at least.
  14. Holy crap this is awesome! Dewd, for the love of all things Tron, please finish this or get some help to get it finished! Awesome work jbs30000!!!
  15. DEWD! Incredibly I've never fired that game up once in Stella! Thanks for the heads up Rhindle! It is a good "psuedo clone" of Bosconian! Man somebody needs to hack that thing into Bosconian stat! *calling Dr. Nukey Shay, Dr. Nukey Shay, please pick up the white courtesy phone...* :D
  16. If anyone wants to check out an updated "what might have been" version of Asteroids, LOOK HERE!
  17. Looks and plays awesome Atari2600land, it really has gotten better with every revision! Do keep up the hardwork, thank you for creating it and sharing it with us!
  18. Congrats Miss 2600, I do believe you've found one of the secrets in Cave In! Read the manual for it if you haven't already, it talks about that room at the end of the manual.(v1.2 manual that is) Also, I've got a map of the entire cave system of the game, however I don't know if it's the latest though, PM me if you want it. Cave In is such an awesome adventure game, it's a shame we never saw anything like this back in the 2600's hayday.(and Secret Quest still can't touch it IMHO, even though I loved it too)
  19. I think it's great personally, as I always enjoyed it when I was growing up with the Atari 2600. Games like Star Raiders, Galaxian, Berzerk and Phoenix that had the awesome DC comics Atari Force issue packed in it with it was definitely a plus to me! Even some of the latter Atari games had interesting write-ups before it got to the technical explanations.
  20. Here's Bentley with a few different facial poses! Enjoy!
  21. GIVE ME LOVE! :lust: ( ) Oh yes, the kangaroo and the dragon from the beta versions of KO Cruiser and A.V.G.N. KO Boxing!!!
  22. Looks awesome so far atari2600land, keep up the great work! I love almost all the demos and games you've go in WIP so far, some really great, promising stuff. Anyway, to help you on the sprite end, I'm pretty bored at the moment so here's a re-working of your main sprites, courtesy of what I could throw together in MSPaint and guesstimating what rez they would look like on an actual Atari 2600. I gave you two different ones of the player sprite because I didn't know if you could throw two different colors for the character or not. Hope this helps man! 23. Bah, even with a few bugs this more "arcade-like" version of Galaxian rocks hard and looks awesome Nukey! Much thanks to you and Kevinmos3! I wish I could help you guys, but programming is not my bag sadly...
  24. Not a bad effort Pacfan, it's got a long ways to go to become an accurate version of Space Duel, but a noble attempt none the less. Why don't you try hacking THIS version of Asteroids to maybe get it a little bit closer... Also maybe if you ask Feralstorm nicely, he might be able to help you out on how to hack the game even more.
  25. I thought about whipping out the ole "banhammer" yugioh card to make a "play" against ole Pacfan, but you've played a far better move sir! Well played sir, well played.
