  1. So I came into a large lot of Atari Bit Computers and Disk Drives - 2 Atari 800s in Box COmplete 1 Seems to work 100% (But cannot get disk games to load properly - More on that later) 1 Turns on but keyboard does not work at all - 1 130 XE (Seems to work 100%) but its apart as I am retrobriting keys and part of the shell - 1 1050 in Box Complete - 1 1050 Loose but has an odd silver switch on the side installed by the former owner - 1 810 in Box Complete - 2 810's Loose - 1 Indus GT - 1 1010 Tape Drive - a crap ton of games on disk - several carts So I hooked up all the drives to test them out. the two Loose 810s seemed to have the same errors both tried loading and they are loud with that grunting noise on occasion and they both say boot error on the screen The Loose 1050 seems to load and then gets to a point where the screen is garbled (have not gotten one disk yet to boot correctly here) Have not tested the other 1050 in box as I just got tired of hooking up moving devices around and same results. So one project at a time here, but hoping its just a head cleaning issue? Also I have my own 800XL which I have not used in many months when I did last time It worked fine, I did not have it plugged in to any PSU or video cable and was covered with a dust cover. Tonight I went to turn it on to test the drives as well and got the bsod (Black screen of death) Tried several video cables here but the original one I used was a known good one. Again one project at a time LOL
  2. So i realize the Playstation 3 is a dying platform and frankly I have not been able to find many active forums so I am hedging my bets I can get some help here. This is not a huge deal but I picked up some non working PS3s as part of a lot and want to be able to fix them versus them going to the scrap heap. I am fairly knowledgeable on repair as I used to repair Fat PS3s and could almost take them apart blindfolded. This PS3 Slim model has a good PSU because I tested another one from a known working model I own and works fine so its not the PSU. When plugged in the standby light is red as it should be but when the power button is pressed it goes on for about a second or two then shuts off. I can press the power button again and the red standby light will come back on and I can do the same thing again with the same result. Again have tested a known good power supply and it still does the same thing. Its not YLOD or it would show a brief yellow light before shutting off and beeping times quickly with a blinking red light, yes even on the slim models. Someone mentioned on youtube it could be RSX or processing and need a reflow but honestly if it was that you would get the YLOD if i am not correct. Again I hate to throw this out, someone mentioned could be the hard drive, but would a hard drive cause the system to turn on and then off rapidly ? I am open to suggestions someone said could be the Blu Ray drive but not sure if that would be causing the issue. Thanks again in advance.
  3. Well I did call best electronics and they dont carry replacement aluminum peices for the Atari 7800. So again if you have an old system you dont use or is busted let me buy those parts from you pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
  4. And to go along with what you need I would Love to buy the Aluminum trim pieces off from the JOysticks and the console as mine are all shot...somewhat oxidated I guess
  5. Again I appreciate EVERYone's opinion. If you refer to my original posts I own the following consoles: Atari 2600 Atari 7800 Colecovision Nintendo 8 Bit Sega Genesis 1 Sega Genesis 2 Sega Saturn Nintendo 64 Sony Playstation Sony Playstation 2 Xbox Halo Edition Xbox 360 So yeah you could say I have been holding the 8 Bit 7800 in high comparison to similar 8 bit consoles. I do want to get my hands on the Epyx games for the 7800 not the 2600 versions which play in the 7800, used to play on my now sold :-( Commodore 64; Summer Games and Summer Games II, Winter Games, California Games, IMpossible MIssion which I am watching on Ebay right now. Some of my favorite games were from Epyx.
  6. Well Thanks for all your oppinions. I got the system cheap enough $25 but did a lot of refubishing to make it look good again. I am guessing the 5200 has worse off gameplay and graphics and sound being a predecessor to the 7800 or am I wrong? I will check out some of the games you recommended (barring the shameless plugs for Beefdrop lol) Thanks!
  7. With all the hype I expected the graphics on the 7800 Prosystem, after my refurbishing event, thorough cleaning washing scrubbing the systems graphics would be like the Nintendo NES 8 Bit. I think the NES has better graphics, I could be wrong but with the games I have which came in the auction: Donkey Kong 7800 Pole Position II Food Fight Crack'ed Winter Games Mario Brothers UNless these games are graphically poor, I am not impressed with this system at all. i thought it would on par with NES but graphics are somewhat primative. Any suggestions on better games for the 7800 Sound and Graphicwise? I am a fan of the old arcade style games but willing to take some suggestions! Thanks again!
  8. Thanks for the response, that is Is Propyl Alchohol (rubbing alcohol) correct? and tahst safe to use on Aluminum on the case?
  9. Any suggestions for cleaning what I think is real but thin aluminum on the 7800 Console and joysticks. I am refurbishing the unit I bought for $20 on ebay and I want to try to clean it up. Was thinking about using a dremel with a buffing bit or maybe a cleaner that is safe for it.
  10. Check out www.best-electronics-ca.com. The guy there, Brad, probably has the parts you want. Thanks I will check it out!! Appreciate your help!! Actually they dont seem to have really any 7800 Replacement parts so I will pose the question again out to the community, I am even willing to pay for these used parts if they are in satisfactory condition, or I might end up trying to use a polising cleaning tool on my dremel to try to buff it up. I believe the aluminum peice is actually real aluminum correct? I might be able to use an aluminum cleaner on it. I will post a seperate post for that question!

  12. Hi, a growing collector of classic and modern consoles. I currently have: Xbox 360 Xbox Halo 2 Edition Playstation 2 Playstation Atari 2600 Sega Saturn Nintendo 64 Sega Genesis 1 & 2 Colecovision Nintendo 8 Bit And recently bought this ugly (dirty and needed some servicing) Atari 7800 which I got on Ebay and picked up locally. I have taken the whole console apart for cleaning and repaired a frayed controller wire on one and it looks pretty good now. My problem is the decals or the Aluminum stripe on the console and the controllers is in bad shape, wondering if someone knows where I can get some replacement peices or has an old console with controllers that would spare the appliques because as part of the refurb I want to make the console look as good as can be. It was REAL dirty when I got it, dirt in every crevass that could be found, but its looking much better. Have taken buttons apart and cleaned the insides which were very dirty.
