I have had my 5200 since 1983 (serial number 141101, U.S.-made 4-port), when I got it and a trak-ball along with Missile Command for my 17th birthday (5/19/83), mainly as a deterrent to me wasting my allowance on arcade coin-ops.
I felt like the hottest kid in my class at Erikson Center, for sure I would have won over my former classmate/then-first crush Cindy Margolis (yes we did go there together and graduated together the following year) back then, but, apparently not. I also found out she already had a boyfriend at the time.
Ah yes, the memories of 1983, new wave was the hot music then, so were Flashdance, my Atari 5200, and being a surfer-dude wannabe like Jeff Spicoli (played by Sean Penn) from Fast Times At Ridgemont High.
BTW, I still have that same 5200 to this day, with almost 80 games for it, including all the carts that came out back then, except for Meteorites and Bounty Bob Strikes Back (both games sold for much-needed $$$ due to 8 months of unemployment and a huge debt I had to pay off)
