  7. Sounds like you have a problem with the fly-back transformer. I would contact best electronics, they probably have the service manual and parts. http://www.best-electronics-ca.com/ as i said in the first post, i'm looking for the sub brighness adjustment first if the tube or flyback transformer is going then it's all going in the bin!
  8. that's for an SM 124 i'm looking for the schematic or info for an SM 146 even though they are both high res, they are very different monitors
  9. hi all recently picked up a rare SM 146 high resolution monitor which works fine but has a dim screen opening it up there are a few pots to adjust but no info around them! so basically i've no idea which one is the SUB brightness (i'm assuming there is one) if anyone has knowledge on this monitor that would be good, if not hence i'm looking for a schematic thanks
  10. has anyone been to one of these Jagfest events in the past? are there lot's of buyers there etc and sellers? i'm thinking of going along to this one and check it out but would love to hear from anyone who's been to one
  11. ALL mega ST's had fans, if your mega st 1 didn't have one then it had been removed best solution is to buy a new quieter type, i have done this with great results the dimensions are standard and are commonly used in small electrical devices good luck
  12. hi just wondered if anyone knows of any events or fairs held in the UK for buying / selling retro consoles, general enthusiasts meets or where i could find out any info thanks
  13. hi yes that's the one! as above i'd say it was in as good condition as the one shown, it's a loose cartridge, no box thanks
  14. hi people i recently picked up some random carts for the VCS and one in the box is TIME MACHINE it has no make or other markings whatsover on the picture label or cartridge seems to be a shoot em up style game does anyone know if this is rare or not? thanks
  15. hi it's not a heavy sixer, just a normal VCS (Atari Wong) Hong Kong model i've had it apart and there were some crap solders but they're good now, think i may remove the cart port and see what i find...
  16. hi people i have a 6 switch VCS which works fine but! mostly when i switch it on whatever the game i use sometimes it comes on ready to use or more often either has a fuzzy / lines on screen / or whatever! it's different each time basically what i'm saying is i have to switch it on and off several times to get the game to play now i've cleaned ALL my cartridge contacts and it's the same problem with any game so that rules out the carts i've cleaned the cartridge port on the console the best i can with some light sand paper in the slot and blasted out any dirt still the same i've also taken apart and cleaned the contacts on the power switch still the same so can anyone help with the problem? could it be a dodgy cartridge port or maybe a failing component somewhere? any help appreciated thanks
  17. i can sort the problem for you but as the other person said by the time you have sent it to me and i've sent it back to you that's £20! already (if you live in the UK that is) the only problem with the DMA issue and "getting another one off ebay" is that there is absolutley no way whatsoever of knowing if the machine has the bad DMA till you open it and physically look at the chip so when you go buy that cheap one on ebay basically you take pot luck, you maybe lucky or you may get another dodgy one! PM me if you want some help
  18. TOS 1.06 and the bad DMA chip usually come together if you have a bad DMA then you will most likely have TOS 1.06 and vice versa could well be the dreaded STE DMA issue!
  19. looks good what is the procedure for cleaning up the casing if it's yellowed?
  20. actually i had a thought i have loads of boxed and mostly new ST/STE games if anyone wants to do swaps for ANY Lynx games i'm open to offers PM me for the list
  21. thanks i'm in no rush and it would cost pennies to send a Lynx game anywhere coz it weighs nothing PM sent
  22. ok well i'm looking for any game as cheap as possible just to test this console i'm in the UK
  23. hi all i recently picked up an atari lynx mark 1 handheld game console anyway sadly i have no games for it what i wanted to know is (from someone who has one) is if you switch it on does the screen light up? or does it do anything WITHOUT a game inserted? i don't know if mine works or not as yet and don't want to start buying games if it's dead thanks
  24. hi all i have a working 1040 STF motherboard, now of course these didn't have the RF modulator so they couldn't be used with a TV anyway i have a spare old type RF modulator from an early ST which was the larger type in a big silver box (this incorporated the RF modulator and circuit) and this fits straight in the blank space in the 1040 STF on the 1040 STF there are afew resistors and transistors in place of the where the modulator should go what i wanted to know is can i just simply solder in the modulator? or do i need to remove anything or add anything? surely someone has done this at sometime any advice would help thanks can take some pics if that would help.....
