LOL.. and there I am in your thread, saying I'd give him a shot! VGA got a hold of me a little later after your thread was posted - I'd bid on one of that seller's TRS-80 carts as a "test" auction to see if he would come through. It was really only after VGA told me about his personal experience with this seller and the BBSB XL auction that I finally decided that I should listen to reason and take my money elsewhere. The seller hadn't shown up on Yahoo! for six months or so, and I figured he got bounced or suspended or whatever. Still.. that cart lot DOES look pretty nice.. er, and if the reserve isn't too high..

http://page.auctions.shopping.yahoo.com/au...57?aucview=0x23 Before anyone seriously considers bidding on this, check out the seller's feedback.. gotta be some of the all-time worst ever. In fact, if you get to page two, you'll see that this isn't the first time he's sold the same Atari 800XL and the Vectrex he's listing currently.

How much should I pay for Commodore monitors?
rpmxxipt replied to RangerG's topic in Auction Central
I'll add my vote to buy 'em all.. if I found one that powered on for less than $15 I'd buy it without thinking about whether it worked. That said, did you go back and get 'em? If you have my luck, you'd have gotten back to the store just in time to see some cart diver haul 'em out to his van. -
Very sad news :( I no longer have my Atari collection.
rpmxxipt replied to Greg Zumwalt's topic in Atari 2600
If everything in your story is true, maybe you should be careful not to allow this guy to add insult to injury by suing you for libel. Posting his name, address, and cell phone number on your website along with your accusations probably wasn't the best course of action to take; nor was starting this thread, which contains implicit threats from others (however humorous) to this Wagner guy. If I were you, Greg, I'd use a heck of a lot more discretion.. take out the personal references to the guy on that webpage.. get an Al to delete this thread.. having a record of people on this thread making threats of violence on this guy on your behalf wouldn't help your case if it ever came down to it. If you don't watch out, this guy will end up with everything of yours you didn't leave in the shed! rpm -
I bet it's those illiterate Okies to the north that're creating the postal black hole.

At the risk of sounding like RC, if you're purchasing an item on eBay to be a time-sensitive gift, you really should specify that when you contact the seller. I had a large NES lot ship via parcel post that took 10 days for whatever reason to get from WI to TX, and the buyer was flipping out, since she bought it as a gift for her fiancee's birthday. I would have gladly recommended priority mail (and probably hustled more myself) if she'd have just said that it was important that the parcel arrive by a certain date. The sale ended up OK, but I felt bad at the time, and I'm sure she was disappointed overall, especially because she shelled out some fairly decent bucks for the lot. rpm

Um, if I said the record is common, and I've found it multiple times in thrifts, and as it was popular with the Lutheran crowd in the early 80's, would anyone be willing to buy the copy I bought for my mother-in-law for.. <Dr. Evil Pose> TEN dollars?

I second that, adding the system. For whatever reason, I've gotten about $25 over value just for throwing those in with a boxed system. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...egory=3617&rd=1 IMHO, all three carts are common as dirt. I wouldn't pay $3 for that lot combined. But some people do.. rpm

One more reason to start up my one-truck US-Canada smuggling ring. Oh well.

Not to sound like an idiot, but welcome to my life. How do
rpmxxipt replied to somePUNK's topic in Auction Central
My bank tries to charge $3.00 for them as well, unless I have $5000 in checking or savings. I never have that kind of dough, so I drive another 100 yards and buy money orders for 45 cents from the service counter at my local warehouse grocery store. They're the cheapest I've found so far, better than the PO. You may be able to find similar deals if you look around. -
I can't remember seeing this before
rpmxxipt replied to holygrailvideogames.com's topic in Auction Central
I think I've seen one of those before. Can't remember where this came from, but I think it's the same bag. rpm -

No slots on the new Bidiots for Commie, Amiga, or ST software??? -
Too bad it isn't $50 a cart, I'd probably pre-order at least 20 of them. But $200 each.. ouch! More power to ya, Curt. rpm

I'm a Satan's Hollow idiot (true confession)
rpmxxipt replied to MegaManFan's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I think Satan's Hollow is great.. I didn't play it much in the day because all my borrowed quarters were getting pumped into Battlezone, but there's never been a Bally/Midway game I didn't like.. and that includes the Sente games too! Just an observation, it seems like Midway never upgraded their video hardware from Satan's Hollow all the way through what, Xenophobe? That was always kind of the charm to me of Midway games, the blocky high school-style cartoon artwork and the cheesy sound effects. Anyone know what the last old-style game Midway released prior to MK was? Was it Pigskin 620 AD? rpm -
The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
rpmxxipt replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Missed on a boxed heavy sixer with about 6 boxed common games, but I picked up a nice Coleco Gemini system with power supply, original joysticks, and 5 common carts + a handful of manuals for ten bucks at a thrift store near me. I was waiting for the VCS to get to half price, but apparently someone bought it the night prior at the full asking price of $40.00.. now who in Milwaukee would pay $40 for a complete boxed but moldy untested heavy sixer? (To be honest, it WAS a nice setup but I passed on it two nights ago because of the mold and because I didn't have $40 burning a hole in my pocket. I think I'm going to have to leave a card in these boxed systems I inspect.. "This game system was rejected as TOO EXPENSIVE by RPMXXIPT.. enjoy your purchase!" $40 btw.. sheesh.. I think the thrifts are getting wise to Dustin's eBay sales. rpm -
hmmmm... Now how bad could THAT be?

I'm disappointed! I was looking forward to my own can, but I got outbid. Oh well, there's always the next one.. maybe the seller has a case.

problems w/ playing old DOS games on modern PC's
rpmxxipt replied to dougy76's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Until there's a shell that runs all old DOS games reliably, I'm still under the notion that there needs to be "best standards" for systems running with an 80xxx processor with DOS version x.x, and regarded strictly as best gaming machines for software released between 19xx and 19xx. The idea that the PC evolution is a continuum is wrong.. as recent history, just consider where 3DFX based polygon games went in the toilet bowl of history. In my humble opinion, I don't think there will ever be a shell that incorporates all of the sound and graphics standards for all DOS and Win9x+ systems out there. I'm with everyone that having a separate computer system for each "era" of games is the best way to go. Retro PC's ought to be designated and categorized in the same way as say the Nintendo hardware. Even though there was never the strong delineation point with PC's, there is definitely the same software evolution. -
Well, I didn't get any indication from the seller on his shipping charges, but I'm still so curious as to how yummy some 20 year old chefboyardee Chicken pasta is that I'm willing to take the risk. My minimum bid is IN, and I promise money shots if I win. On the other hand, if my recent Canada-US shipments have been any indication, this will arrive to me in multiple pieces with Canadian gravel and roadburn on the can.

No offense, but for a measly ten dollar purchase with less than a month past the transaction date, you've smeared the seller in public twice here on AA and filed a paypal complaint, without ever directly negotiating a refund or taking the seller's word at face value that he was looking into the matter. And now that you've FORCED a refund, you're going to KEEP the games if his story is true and they show up after all? Sigh.. this just all doesn't fit into my world view. rpm
