How do you test these things out? I purchased one last year and finally had time to play with it (after assembling my Flashrom99 also purchased last year). On one machine, all I get is a blank screen. On another machine, I tried loading a several ROMs that require 32k and they don't load.

Send an email to r@0x01.de with what you want
You can order

- An assembled FinalGROM without LEDs or buttons for $51.29
- The FinalGROM label for $1.14
- Shipping for $11.40
Thanks. I still have the original version in kit form still unassembled because Ralph couldn't make them fast enough when they were first introduced.

I have done Bob's fix once and again recently on the same XL. I think all of us should buy a spare mylar for the long run.
-
Complete success! Looks like that last little bit of paint did it. I now have two 1200XL keyboards that work!
Many thanks to Bob for his instructions and to ACML for the encouragement to not give up!
I'd still buy half a dozen new mylars, if someone were to make them.

Best Electronics sells a replacement mylar.

Just send a message to him on eBay asking for one and he'll get one out for you. Someone suggested a few months ago and I bought one from him.

Until someone like Ciro comes up with a better label, this one might do in a pinch for those wanting to stick their FlashROM 99 in a cartridge case.
Nice

As for orienting the LED, the square pad on the pcboard coresponds to the flat spot on most LEDs (at least that is the convention). The LED outline on the pcboard also has that flat spot, but it is sort of obscured by the pad.

Tks. Just ordered my kit.

Just Ralph an email and he's quick to respond. Looking to get the kit as he said he is backlogged on a complete assembled cart. Other than the resistors, ICs and caps (since I can see the arrangement on the pic), I hope I don't place the LED and switch the wrong way.

Yep! $75 for the basic version. The price of the deluxe version will be determined by the cost of the microSD card it ships with. There will be no additional charge for the included game ROMs.
That sounds great!

I was so happy to pickup a new FB2 locally on Craiglist today till I found the thread on fake ones. Sadly mine is also a fake. I guess the brightside is that I got two new joysticks for $20.
I wonder how many fake ones were made?

Anyone wire-up a Harmony directly to a FB2? I just might have to buy another Harmony for the project.
-
Or you could get a real Atari 2600 and pop a Harmony cart into that and just about every game you can think of would work, including most homebrews.
There are issues using a Harmony on a modded FB2?

Wonder what is OP's stat on his cart? Just add me to the list of happy customers on the CV flashcart. Steve has done a great service for the 8-Bit Atari community.

Mine is due to arrive on 12/30.

Inty sold out and CV still avail. That was quick. Glad I stumbled upon it yesterday and ordered one of each. Wish I bought more now.

This is wonderful and sad at the same time. Sad because it just goes to show what actually could have been done back when Pac Man was really released for the VCS. Imagine if this was the version released. You wonder if this really would have been a killer app that pushed the VCS even higher as the king of video games. Might have slowed down the time to the crash even?
Looks amazing.
Exactly.
Tks for the ROM.
