  1. You could take this to the extreme. If that was true, the only game you would play is something like 'Pong'. Subsequent systems added colors, graphics, a CPU. Each generation of consoles solved problems of the previous generation. Right now, and in the past 40 years we are witnessing the evolution of gaming, from something very primitive (pong), to something very advanced and almost lifelike. Pong was pushing only one pixel per frame, the ps4 pro has a pixel fillrate of 58.3 GP/s. I think that's pretty awesome.
  2. Of course computers! Nintendo prohibited publishers publish games on other consoles, but not computers! During the NES days I grew up with MSX. Altough it has crappy sound, 16 colors (MSX 2 had 512), no scrolling, I have fond memories of it. Konami has a solid catalog of games for it, all gems. Compile also with their Aleste and Y's games. Hal Laboratory (Eggerland, Rollerball). Microcabin (XAK). Quirky ZX-Spectrum conversions. Nintendo didn't need to save anything!
  3. Yakuza 6 I haven't played it yet, but I think it looks amazing. Look at all the stuff. Crowded streets, neon lights, reflections in the water, countless NPC's. There is just so much going on in this game. I'm really amazed that a PS4 is capable of creating all these graphics, maybe I should buy one I'm also really impressed by the psvr. It's much better than I ever expected it to be. The headtracking is what makes it so good. You can rotate/move in any direction and the image is compensated accordingly. It almost a holodeck!

If everything looks like a screw, I just want to drink screwdrivers.

If everything looks like a bolt...I think it means you're nuts!

  5. I got a lenovo thinkpad X250 from 2015 for my son (9) when his laptop (a 32gb lenovo netbook) broke. I wanted to replace the keyboard but it's just impossible to do maintenance on these laptops. For myself I got a Lenovo T440P. I got it for Visual Studio, but it runs NullDC and Dolphin too. It even has a CD-ROM which I'm likely to replace with a Blu-Ray.
  6. No troubles with windows 10 and updates? My experience is that these kind of laptops will themselves with updates so the 32GB gets filled very quick.
  7. Hideo Kojima is going back to Konami to make a new Snatcher game!

So I guess Voyager hasn't been shot down by Klingons yet.

Elsewhere it was commented that one wouldn't want to be programming for the Voyager in case one made a mistaked and "bricked" it, far away in space. I commented that if an alien captures or destroys the probe, the programmer might still get the blame here on Earth that no data any longer are received.

I'll do it. As long as I don't have to move to Maryland / Goddard Space Center.

      I'll go to Kennedy.

  9. If it fails, they'll blame the naysayers.
  10. Any news on this? Figuring out legalities with Konami seems like a Mission Impossible, considering the kind of company it has become. (If it's true what they say on the interwebz).
  11. Funny how they always have a bunch of cheerleaders, supporting the 'concept'.

I haven't played a Metal Gear game since the original Playstation... And I recently bought some memory cards for the PS1 for $1.99 at Goodwill, so...

The first Metal Gear (MSX) saved to tape!

  13. Its big, like the Lynx. That's good for ergonomics, and for stuffing big batteries inside it. Too expensive for me though.
  14. Update #31: All, Wanted to drop a very quick update heading into the weekend (even though we do not have a lot of new details to share). Just a follow up to last week post to let you know we will be continuing to work with Partners post-CNY on schedule and development plans (and are not alone in doing so, with things starting to get back to normal there from this coming week). Meanwhile: we are still moving ahead on SW and everything else we can, as we work towards the next development breakthrough we all want to see. Also we wanted to say thanks a lot for all the feedback on the new website. We will be tweaking and expanding it in the months ahead, so thoughts and feedback on it still welcome! Hope you all have a great weekend! We'll be back within 2 weeks or less. The Gameband Team. PS: What sort of watch-faces would you like to see on Gameband? Drop a reply or DM with an Artist, Brand, Concept, that we might not have thought of. Maybe not be #1 priority, but we would love to start gathering ideas!
  15. This is all completely in line with the backwards approach™.
  16. I disagree. I don't think that the people who made demos are the same people that make productivity applications. The harsh truth is that, for productivity you don't need fancy sound/graphics. Behind every 'app' you use there could be a boring database running with tables and columns
  17. It should have been a console instead of a computer. Someone already made a thread about that: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/248927-how-would-a-game-console-amiga-have-competed/
  18. Gameband update #30: All, It’s hard to believe we are already almost at the 2nd month of 2018, and we hope that for all of you the year has gotten off to a great start. For us it’s hard to know where the time has gone, it’s flown by in the blink of an eye. We know we have continued to struggle with communication, DMs and comments. We’ve been holding out on updates to try to have better news, and we know that is not a good strategy. We have said on several occasions we will get more consistent on this and have not managed to achieve that yet, much to everyone's frustration. Some of you are justifiably fed up with us and we fully apologize to you. We know we owe it to everyone to do better in communication in the weeks ahead. On to the Updates: The weeks before Chinese New Year are hectic for development and manufacturing, as many companies push to get their last orders and work done before the holiday slow down (effectively for 2-3 weeks in the region). As a very small player, and with plenty of development challenges (expected and unexpected), attention levels on our project were even harder to maintain than expected. We are pushing ahead as hard as we can on getting Gameband through the next critical hardware phase, however we did not manage to make firm schedule progress before Chinese New Year with our partners. We are doing everything we can to fix that post-CNY holiday. Core software continues to be on schedule, companion apps are almost bug-free at this stage. The new SDK release coming along quite nicely. We rolled out our new website yesterday: www.gameband.com (after a lot of "Murphy’s Law" issues in the past few weeks). Please check it out if you can and let us know what you think in comments or DM. Thanks as always for your patience and support; we will be back next week. The Gameband Team.
  19. I was never really disappointed, but in retrospect, the Amiga 1200, could be much better. It only had 8-bit sound. The video-upgrade wasn't much since using much color slowed down the machine a lot. I had a 68030, but that didn't help that much. Also, you needed a multisync monitor to make the video output really useful since the higher-res modes used 30KHz and the games still 15KHz which normal VGA monitors didn't like. On paper, the Atari Falcon looks much better (except for the 16-bit bus) with 16-bit sound and a fancy dsp which even plays MP3's. It's very sad that it was killed in favor of the Jaguar.
  20. That sucks, the renders were great.
