Did the NES Mini get a Price cut in Europe? Wasn't it released at 69,99 Euros?
I don't know if there was an official price, but mine was €59,98

Funny how my Mini Classic is now the most 'expensive' console I own...
Here you can buy them for €169,- (=$179,-) (Was €179,-, they give €10,- discount!): https://www.conrad.nl/nl/nintendo-nintendo-classic-incl-controller-incl-30-games-1491304.html
This is getting ridiculous.

I don't get what you're saying AT ALL here.
How do you know there is demand for such a box? How do you know what people would be willing to pay?
Help me understand the appeal of a fragile, spinning CD instead of an ISO file, in an age when storage is cheap and plentiful.
I can ALMOST see the appeal of certain kinds of cartridges, especially those with custom hardware or battery saved games. It's not for me, but I can see how some people might swing that way.
I see ZERO appeal in preserving physical CD playback, when they're easily duplicated or ripped using everyday consumer tech.
Is it about easy plug-n-play preservation for childhood memories? A way to replace busted old hardware that won't spin discs anymore? A way to hook up the same to HDMI displays?
Just guessing, but for people who are less tech-savvy, it would be easier to buy a 2nd hand game, pop in the cd instead of downloading / copying an iso.
But those people would probably not be aware of the existence of such device.

Here a no-vote for DLC. I prefer my games to be complete.
Btw. I bought Super Mario Run for ios (for my children) and I haven't even managed to run the game on more than one device. So my first digital Nintendo download leaves already a negative impression.

Man these little SoCs sure have popularized emulation and helped move it into the mainstream with breakneck speed.
Bring!! It!! On!!

It would be ironic if the Nes Classic has better Genesis emulation than the atgames console.

Found a video:

Now we only need an SD-Card mod...
-
Maybe Nintendo thought, what if a family member watches Netflix in docking mode, and you want to play a game?
That's exactly what would happen in my house.
having kids seriously increased my use of portable devices.

Nah, a 64Gb SD card is large enough to hold nearly every cartridge based ROM ever made, uncompressed. I believe GBA have the largest No-Intro set, followed closely by NEO-GEO and N64. Everything else is tiny by comparison.
You're right. Access to a NAS is more a convenience to me.

I loved Pilotwings bitd. Just floating around doing nothing

If I remember correctly, it was made by SGI people: http://www.retrogamer.net/retro_games90/the-making-of-pilotwings-64/

Its estimated battery life is within the range of the 3DS's which has Netflix, Hulu Plus, YouTube, and a browser.
No Netflix on the 3ds in europe, so I'm already prepared for the Switch :-)

I looked into making one, once. Turns out, the reason it's so hard is the same reason the component cables are so expensive... all the decoding would have to be done outside the system. But yeah, if a small adapter could hdmi-enable my cube, I'd be on that like cheeto dust on a stoner.
I heard they are working on a plug 'n play version of then gcvideo mod: http://www.retrocollect.com/News/plug-n-play-nintendo-gamecube-hdmi-out-modification-gcvideo-coming-soon.html
I could solder it myself but I hate drilling holes in a gamecube.

Today, now, we have quite sophisticated software emulators that are versatile and easy to use because they make use of the host's hardware and OS to provide the many conveniences a full-fledged file system can offer. This is something where I feel that all present-day FPGA rigs come up short.
Well, it would be cool if the Zimba had LAN so you can have a huge NAS with all games on it.

I just pledged $99,- for a 'SUPER EARLY BIRD Gameband Terraria' 19 left now.
It looks like a cool niche product.
-
Does it have de gcvideo mod?
-
Non really permanently hooked up, but my gamecube is my most played system. I still have a pile of 'to play' games next to my tv. I bought it new, so it's probably 15 years old now?

I was the one that chose Sunshine

What I like about it:
- Wonderful setting, music, ambiance. It has a certain 'feel' that I like
- Big levels.
- Some levels can be very hard, like the 'secret' levels:
I also played Galaxy and Galaxy 2, but I found the levels too short. Great games though, very polished.

The Vega+ didn't do any teasing / announchements that I'm aware of, and the fundraising was an instant success. I think Retroblox should me clear about their product. It's still vague to me. [armchair ceo]They lose momentum this way[/armchair ceo]

I want a module that lets you plug in other modules. Because, Modules!
Why not a module that lets you play tapes! Expirience long loading times like in the 80's!.

What would be cool is a box where you can just put your dc / ps2 / gc / xbox discs in, and just connect your dc / ps2 / gc / xbox joysticks to. And play games in 4k.
It would be possible of course with tinkering, but I hate tinkering.

Backwards approach again. First ask for money, then deliver prototypes / specs etc.
Since the Chameleon we all developed a 6th sense for when something is 'off'

The fail of NES hardware/gaming video from UK outlook
in Classic Console Discussion

I can't comprehend why people here are judging the systems on their graphics qualities (many people still play their 2600, just saying). On the MSX, we had some ported ZX-Spectrum games and the where really fun to play. As an MSX owner, I could easily live without a Nintendo 'saving the industry', considering the quality of the Konami MSX games. Or where those games funded by NES Konami sales?
Later we got an amiga, and while graphics and sound where great, my fondest memories come from the MSX.
I think in the end, we all love what we grew up with.
