  1. Not sure if this is posted here already: http://kotaku.com/the-mini-nes-wont-open-cant-connect-to-the-internet-1783693116
  2. I think this device is perfect because: - 30 games is enough. If you put 700 games on it, the end user doesn't know which games are good and which not. - hdmi is great, video quality will be consistent. - Small, so you can easily store it, or bring it with you on holidays. - Hassle-free setup (buy > connect > play). You can give this to your kids and they can probably operate it. Less tech-savvy can use this device too (retropie probably some computer-knowledge to setup). Saying it sucks because it emulates is a bit premature I think. It would be nice to be able to buy extra games for it though...
  3. I first thought the comparison was incorrect, since the Star Trek device is used for evil stuff, but so far they have in common that they start as a fun game
  4. I think it's unique due to the really low resolution. Since it has some games the amiga has (apb, lemmings, sotb to name a few), 4096 color palette, pcm capable sound (klax), and made by ex-amiga people (RJ Mical, Dave Needle), I always thought of it as a little amiga .
  5. Great! This would be my first NES though Dutch nintendo site also reports on this, so I guess it's legit: https://www.nintendo.nl/Divers/Nintendo-Classic-Mini/Nintendo-Classic-Mini-Nintendo-Entertainment-System-1124287.html
  6. I liked the music in this demo, it sounds very analog.

Wow, that's awesome. Just reading the article and looking at the code, there's some sweet stuff there - thanks for the link

A book titled "Digital Apollo" provides loads of insight into what they were trying to do!

I might want that book :). It's interesting on many levels, they create something 'new', limited resources, and software tools where probably absent too. Besides that, the result has to bring something to the moon...

  7. Ha!, now I remember reading the post from kevtris. I missed PlayWithWolves' post though. The Chameleon clearly needs its own subforum so we can categorize things in topics The only one who can add something new to this thread is 'Mr Lee'.
  8. Time travel movie/series = plot holes

      Zelda fits this perfectly.

The only game I ever saw have time travel extensively and no plot holes is Chrono Trigger. An amazing feat in an amazing game.

  9. I know SD Snatcher. I would not consider it a sequel (same story). Fantastic game anyway. Maybe, I still have to play the translation.
  10. I just discovered this thread. I love snatcher! Too bad Kojima never made any sequels like he did with Metal Gear.
  11. Maybe the GPU could be modular. 1080p, 4k, 3d (stereoscopic), VR don't change the actual game (CPU?) but only affects the GPU I guess. So you could swap the GPU depending on how much visual fidelity you want.
  12. True, the Nintendo WiiU (and the upcomming NX) is the only console I would consider for my kids (7 and 4 years old) since they aren't into gore and blood. It is also the only console they are interested to play in the stores/shops.
  13. Within a few years, when the ps4 is a lot cheaper since the ps4.5 came out, you'll be sorry.
  14. A8 > MSX > MSX2 > Amiga 500 here. Later I got an Amiga 1200, but somehow I think the Falcon was a more worthy successor to the Amiga 500, since it had 16-bit sound and a DSP.
  15. I just bought a コナミ・オールスターズ~千両箱平成4年版~

      IT's 4 sex dolls LOL!

  16. Could software emulation work/interface in realtime with a cartridge?
  17. I would say: FPGA: Replication of the original hardware on an electrical level. The electrical signals in the FPGA can be the same as the emulated system, therefore the replicated hardware can be made to act 100% like the original hardware. Android box or Raspberry Pi: A microprocessor with a program (the emulator) that is working very hard to emulate all the parts of the original hardware. Like a juggler who holds many balls in the air. Besides that, the FPGA of kevtris has a configurable clock so even that element acts like the one in the original hardware (possibly eliminating audio and video timing issues). Something impossible on other hardware (Android etc.). Even the HDMI upscaler is directly tied to the emulated system so latency is brought to a minimum.
  18. It seems they have changed the specs then, since the AY and DB-9 ports are mentioned now?: I'm worried a bit since this project lacks the impact of the Vega, the Vega was just there. I hope this isn't going the same way as that other promises based machine...
  19. Woops, just found there aleady is a topic about this... http://atariage.com/forums/topic/252112-yet-another-repro-spectrum/?hl=%2Bspecnext&do=findComment&comment=3503140
