  1. Was my first score really that ponderous? Now @ 69,100... getting more comfortable with keyboard controls.
  2. I didn't snooze, but I _was_ waiting for more reviews of the gameplay before ordering. I have the same basic question: where (if anywhere) can it still be purchased? -Eric
  3. Omega Race! (Not a great choice, but I finally bought a booster grip for it...)
  4. 22,800. Playing fairly aggressively... haven't resorted to the "pick them off from the range where they start to move on radar, followed by hasty retreat" approach yet. -Eric
  5. I have most of the Jag releases and enjoy the system quite a bit. I've also had 3DO systems for almost as long, having purchased both around 1995, and have a similar number of games for it (~70, I think). I get a kick out of both systems. The big benefits from the Jag (for me) are the titles that were either Jag-only or had their best versions on it, the fact that there is still active development, and the community on this site and others. I've also enjoyed networked games, although mostly at conventions; if you don't have contact with other Jaguar owners, this isn't a selling point. The 3DO has some very fun games, including some exclusives and "best version" titles (and its share of mediocre ones and dogs, like any system), but there's nothing new coming for it [some developers claim otherwise, but I haven't seen product]. I also haven't found any communities that actively support it; there used to be good websites like Erin Fritz's, and Usenet was fine before porn spam took over, but active discussion is now hard to find. It's library is much larger, though, and games are generally cheaper... you may want to get the 3DO first. Japanese titles generally work just fine, too... kanji capabilities affect some games, I think, and some others may use the MPEG add-on, but it is good system for dabbling in foreign games. Just call the "CD-R backups" what they are: pirated intellectual property. Anyone with a defensible right to a "back-up" doesn't need one: they have functional original media that will probably outlast the CD-R anyway. I guess I'm just not a warez guy... sorry if I'm overly grumpy about that. There are several threads on AA covering 3DO and Jaguar game recommendations. You should check them out. Oh, and if you look at the right (wrong?) 3DO games, you _will_ see "that stupid, blocky, polygon crap." Blocky isn't always bad, though... whether on the 3DO, Jaguar, or VCS -Mad Scientist
  6. Make that 3,300... decided to play until I saw another type of captor. -Eric
  7. 1,240. Just got a taste of the game... could be fun. -Eric
  8. The first game is Altered Beast (an SMS version, from the looks of it). -MadSci
  9. 40,040 for me... just time for one emulated game. I've been largely inactive on AtariAge since the birth of my son in November. I had originally planned to use Jr. Pac-Man for the contest (it seemed appropriate), but I saw at the last minute that it had been used last year. Commando Raid was one of the time-wasters from my childhood; collision detection aside, I hope that people liked it. :!: Small bounty: submit a score, get a point from me. It's the closest thing to handing out cigars that I can do around here (and more appealing, given my career in cancer research)! -Mad Scientist
  10. Nope, it's not Air raiders, although I should try that one sometime. I'd prefer to wait for ze_ro's new top-level post so that scores don't get posted in the wrong thread... -Mad Scientist
  11. Re: next game: I submitted one (actually two, as I noticed on Monday that my first selection had been used last year). I'll leave it to ze_ro to confirm it, but I will name the game this evening if he has not already done so by then. -Mad Scientist
  12. There's a "where are they now" article at this site. Leonard's activities are actually pretty interesting to me: he's exposing the moronic editing of childen's textbooks. FYI. -Eric "can't stand inaccurate texts" Mad Scientist
  13. 34,850. Very cool game... a nice improvement upon Defender (which I already enjoyed). -Eric (waiting for his little proto-gamer to be born "any day now")
  14. Oh, come on. Teddy Boy rocks! It's one of the favorites for my wife's family (along with Penguin Land). I agree about the game packaging, though: it was horrendous when compared to the NES. I also found the both types of SMS controllers to be clunkier/ less responsive than the competition's. -Eric
  15. 1,020. Astrosmash has stolen five minutes of my life that I will never get back... -Eric
  16. 107,590. Starting to pass the invisible levels. -MS Make that 201,070. Finally defeated the first post-invisibles dragon. -MS
  17. I voted as an owner of multiple Battlespheres (3), but two are the original and one is BSG. All were ordered directly from 4Play/ Scatologic at the times of their release... it was simple enough to get my name on the lists when they requested orders. I intend to always keep at least two carts total for head-to-head play, but I may sell one of the originals one of these days. -Eric
