Here's the best I could do: AnyConv.com__XEP80-II.svg
I exported it first as a DXF in a mm format. And I checked it in a CAD program with it being exactly 114.3 mm square which equals 4.5". So far so good. Then not having a utility on my computer to convert it from DXF to SVG I resorted to an online converter, with only one appearing to work properly (AnyConv.com).
Here's the original DXF i was working from: XEP80-II.dxf
Thanks! This will save me from getting the EXTRA big calipers out

MacRorie, If you are going to produce cases based on the 576NUC+ design, I would for sure buy the XL style version.
We will. Just need to sit down with TinkerCAD and get it done. I also have a few other case ideas that I need to get done. Will try to do it during the break.

Anyone is Australia interested in ordering one of these? I would be keen to split the the postage as it's is soooo expensive from the thebrewingacademy ?
Sorry, but since USPS put a pause on all packages to Australia and New Zealand, the only way to ship it to y'all is DHL and UPS and, well, they charge an arm and a leg. As soon as USPS lifts the "pause," we won't be locked in to such high carrier rates.
Also, the fully built ones are now available for sale :
EDIT: Some people are having trouble finding the link. (craftily hidden in the sentence above) so here it is

@MacRorie will be carrying a DIY kit that brings the PCB with the 48 pin NS405 chip already socketed. Not sure on the time frame of it going on sale, but to be honest I just gave him all the specs and a demo unit about a month or so back, so please give him time to assimilate
The DIY "Kit" is currently available. https://thebrewingacademy.com/collections/atari-800-xl-xe-xel-xld/products/xep80-ii-by-mytek
The Assembled version will be available for sale almost immediately. Just waiting on a final part. Let me know if you have questions!

Is this going to be sold assembled or as a kit only?
On 10/15/2021 at 4:50 PM, mytek said:Yes, we will offer it as a fully assembled and a "mini-kit." If you elect to DIY it, we will also have the ability to sell you pre-programmed EPROMs. The boards shipped from China today, so should see them soon and then will put them up for sale on the website. Will update as things move along.

So over the years I have accumulated 3 Atari Jaguars, 1 with a cd., bought them as lots with dreams of networking them to play games like doom.
So the years have past, games are priced high, so are .
8 Jaguars (2 need as yet unidentifed repairs), 3 CD units (all functional except one has an annoying click even after being repaired).
2 hours ago, Pete5125 said:So is it worth it to keep back-up systems around, or collect on the insane ebay prices?
That is a hard question. I mean given eNay prices, I am tempted, but then I would probably start selling everything off and the collection is so big, it dissuades me from going any further.

On a side note, I thought I had a bad UAV but a close inspection revealed a jumper pin that had not ben soldered in. Just a touch and it was good to go.
Apologies about that. I will implement some more quality control. PM me your details, if you would. Thanks again for your business!

I pre-ordered mine direct from Atari (with a money order direct to the VP of Marketing who was living near to me at the time, Don Thomas. However, I did not receive it until THREE WEEKS AFTER launch because Atari management took all of Don's units and shipped them to retail stores. I literally could have bought one at the store earlier than getting it from Atari. Typical Atari, though.

I'm going to ping @MacRorie so that he can be a part of this convo.
Yes it is a pin-for-pin connection between the MIDI board (J1) and the XEL (J5).
The Cassette Motor Control is what connects the MIDI controller to the SIO bus. If the Motor Control is inactive, then the MIDI controller's SIO connections will float and not load down the bus - no diode required.
Basically this just works assuming that all is well with your MIDI XEL II. One thing that can be verified, is to remove the MIDI's PIC chip and see if you are still seeing SIO contention. If you are, then something might be shorted or going to the wrong place.
May I ask why you got an XEL II (ostensibly for the 1088XEL) for the 800 and not just the external MIDI interface?

Well just for the time I found most of the problems...
I now have 3 BAD 6502c CPU's... that ended up so far as the main problem.
I have not gone back and put back the original chip (GTIA) but plain to AFTER I upgrade to 64k Memory...
Ran self test and all tested OK...
Still have the low voltage on the UAV but will work on that after I get the memory up to 64k...
Thanks for the Ideas and help.
Learning all the time... Still would like to know if the ANTIC chips are interchangeable!!
Peter
Glad it all worked out.

Also - and I say this having put a UAV into a 600XL myself a couple weeks ago, be sure the jumpers are set correctly for the 600XL. My UAV arrived with the jumpers set for the 800XL but the manual shows the details for all the different models so it’s no problem if you need to verify or change them.
Good call. The default for all A8 UAVs is to ship with the 800XL & all XE configuration.

Have a quick question. Now this may have been answered some where in the 52 pages of this thread but i looked and did not find it.
I just installed the uav in a 600xl and find a "black" screen when turned on... No I do not know if the 600 was working before but had no way to check the video with out adding the uav. no rf monitor...
Well, the first things I would do is double-check your UAV connections, just to make sure. Make sure all the wires are where they are supposed to be and that you have good continuity. I say this as someone who has installed it "perfectly" more than once and then realized I missed something. I would *especially* make sure that you are getting good continuity from the terminal strip to the monitor port. Check from the solder point UNDEr the terminal strip and not from the screw as the screw is not always a good indicator of continuity from the UAV to the port.
9 minutes ago, Peter Rabitt said:Started to check things out(because I have seen other people say the voltage where low 4.75 or so ) and found the input voltage at the connector/switch was 4.95vdc.. Looks good!!! Then I checked the 2 points on the uav and found the voltage there to be 4.65vdc.. WOW what a drop. I unplugged the uav and measured the voltage at the connector, for the 4050, and found the 4.95vdc ...Interesting..How much current does the uav draw??? Now I can wire 5.00(4,95vdc) direct to the uav and see that happens but it is not a good Idea to parallel two line carrying the same voltage, not knowing the parts between.. Can set up current loops. Any Ideas???
I do not think the UAV is not getting enough power. Although anything is possible, I do not think it is probable. Would definitely double-check and make sure the grounds are in place. (See above).
The fact that you could not verify video before makes this a little bit of a "shot in the dark" (pun intended), but keep plugging. Also, do you know if you are getting *any* signal out? In other words, does your monitor tell you it is getting a signal and it is just a black screen or is it not getting anything? If it is the former, then the UAV is putting out something. If the latter, then the UAV is either not getting a signal to put out orthe connections are not secure and, thus, no signal to the monitor.

After a long good and productive development time, The Brewing Academy is proud to announce that the 576NUC+ is now available for sale!! Yeah! Woo!
MyTek's Atari 576NUC+ Computer
*I* would like to think that it is a VERY reasonable price all around. Also, if you want to purchase it a little bit at a time, then you are welcome to do so! The PAL version includes the ColorBurst daughterboard for PAL color. We expect that these will take about 2-3 business days to build until we get a good supply of them pre-built, so expect your order to take about 5 business days from order date to ship date. We plan on being faster than that, but wanted to under-promise just in case.
We also have a lot of other new products available for sale:
Want a 3.5" floppy drive? Well, we are now selling what we are calling the "Atari 1035"! Developed by DropCheck and I, this features all new parts (well, except for the 1050 case) and works very nicely with SpartaDOS X and SpartaDOS 3.2. It will work with other Atari DOSes, but your mileage may vary.
Atari 1035 by The Brewing Academy
Also, if you have an Atari with an Ultimate 1M already installed AND you want to have access to Mass storage WITHOUT occupying your cartridge slot OR modifying your case, we now have the PBI2CF3 and ECI2CF3 CompactFlash hard drive interfaces:
PBI2CF3: Put a CompactFlash HDD interface on you 800XL or 600XL (you will need to add two wires inside of your 800XL and one wire inside of your 600XL. VERY EASY)
ECI2CF3: Put a CompactFlash HDD interface on any Atari computer with an ECI (130XE, some 65XE, and some 800XE) No modifications needed, plug & Play
We also have Vectrex cartridges, CEDs, Amiga & Commodore products, and MORE MORE MOREEEEEEEE!
{ahem} done now.

Wasn't sure if you already did so and I missed it or if it's on your website etc.
Well, huh, I suppose it has been a year. I suppose I better figure out how to do that.

If it worked as intended, we wouldn't be having this discussion. As someone with a PhD in Communications, I'd expect you to understand that.
And while I've put up with your little digs so far, they're both unnecessary and uncalled for, particularly when I've volunteered to assist with remediation. All they really serve to do is make it appear as though you can't handle the slightest bit of commentary that might be in any way critical of the manual.
Absolutely correct. Deepest apologies.

There are a couple of other things that I found in that section, and would be happy to discuss them in PM for the sake of not overrunning the thread.
This is something I'd be happy to help with if it would make things easier. I do have a minor background in technical writing for both engineering and executive audiences, as well as copy writing and editing.
Thank you for the offer. I will just have to rely on the Ph.D. and 20 years of collegiate teaching in Communication.

Having now installed the UAV in both my 1200XL and (as of last night) 800XL, I feel that there's something that needs to be mentioned:
The instructions seem like they're written by hardware engineers, for hardware engineers. Unfortunately, not being a hardware engineer myself, that made them somewhat non-intuitive.
Well, since I wrote the majority of the manual, I can tell you I am not an engineer nor do I write for engineers. I thought I laid it out in easy step by step instructions. I will see what I can do about making it more accessible.
