  1. Folks,

We have some Stacys for sale that need some more TLC than usual.  Some are working, some are not.  ALL have been tested and their faults listed.

We also have some ST Book & ST Pad parts for sale (as well as an ST Book retail box).  Come on down and take a look.

    1.  It is a standard PS/2, no USB adapter

    2.  I just confirmed with Raiden that both Jag ports work

    3.  I have not, might have a little trouble finding a computer with a PS/2 port but I'll have to hunt around.

    4.  It's an older Compaq 2 button mouse with ball (not optical)

I'll either confirm 3. or maybe I'll find another PS/2 mouse to try.

    Thanks for the reply.

Hmm, I cannot think of any reason why it would not work (outside of the mouse itself being non-functional).  You can send it to me and, if I can verify it is defective, will send you a replacement.  If not, then you know you need to find a new mouse without having to find a PS/2 capable computer!

So I've had a PS/2 adapter that I purchased from AtariAge for quite a while.  I finally have a chance to give Defender of the Crown a go with the new interface.  However, I can't seem to get it to work.  Plugged it into port 2 and selected option 2 when DotC starts up.  After that point, nothing works with the mouse.  Is there something I'm missing?  The pins all look good when I unplug the adapter to inspect for bent pins.

    Please advise.

    Thanks!

    A couple of questions:

    1. Is it a standard PS/2 mouse or is it a mouse USB with an adapter?

    2. Does port 2 work with a regular Jag Pad?

    3. Have you verified operation of the mouse in a computer?

    4. What kind of PS/2 mouse is it?

There are problems with his design
    - poor build quality - I have to test each one and send back the bad ones
    - dsr incompatibly with original sw
    - cf card required is getting scarce

Better to get a sidecar ram card that you already sell and then buy the tipi for hd/network and/or the sd card I'm working on to plug into the 44pin stack if you need floppy

    Fair enough.

I have been his biggest customer for a while but he just informed me he has decided to stop making the nano. I just sold the last 5 in my store..

If anyone has his contact information, I would be happy to contact him and license the design.  He could make some money and not have to make them, Nanos would still exist, win-win.

    Just a thought.

I am totally OK with the PCB design being used, as it is derived from GPL-licensed work so it too is GPL'd, as far as I'm concerned. The cart shell is under a CC license, and I don't particularly like others profiting off my own solo work where I get nothing. It makes me feel "taken advantage of", hence the license. I would be happy to discuss.

I was only referring to the board, but if you want to license your shell design, we can certainly discuss it.  Always open to new possibilities.

  7. I/We (The Brewing Academy) will probably offer some form of this for sale if it is okay with everyone concerned.  I plan on modifying it a little bit so the dev board is not needed, but initially, it just might be what is available.  There are other projects in the works as well that we will offer for sale.

    And mine too. lol!!

Header was JP8 slightly off grid (2 mils in Y coordinate).

Ground plane now follows the contour around the board.

modified the edge connector library and change the outline of the edge connector to the Tdocu/Bdocu layer (instead of Tame/Bname). I suggest you to modify it in your con-edge library so it will not appear again if you use the "update libraries" command.

Just look at a bare board - the silkscreen shows them (invisible when the terminal block is soldered on).

(L-R) Col In; Ground; Chroma; Luma; Composite; Ground

Yes, I know.  I happen to have "a couple" of them to look at. ;-)

However, I was referring to L7 & L9.  I did not want to have to open my 800XL again to see where I installed them so I could correct the manual for the 5th time.

I just so happen to be flipping around YouTube and came across flashjazzcat’s recent uav video.

The one he was working in was displaying the same symptoms as mine when the color line was connected. He determined that the composite and Luma wires were switched in the terminal block. I switched mine plugged the color in back in and wala perfect screen.

I am still going to search for that apc.xex and test it but at least I know all the lines are now connected.

    Thanks again for the help.

ACP.XEX is in the link I put in message #1185.

Can you please tell me which lines you have Chroma and Luma connected? I have flipped them back and forth countless times because people keep saying they are reversed in the manual.

Here is the output from the uav.xex.

It seems like all the colors are present. You tell me.

The reason I tried disconnecting the color in was I was getting vertical lines through everything when it was connected.

That's not precisely what you should be getting (see last pages of the manual for comparisons).  However, if it looks good to you and you have no complaints, then as far as I am concerned, it's perfect and you can tell me, "Tell your story walking!" ;-)

I’m not really sure how the UAV can output color properly without the Color signal when all you’ve got on the 4050 itself are the LUM signals. Photos of your install and the output would help figure out if you’re likely to experience any issues in the future. Search this thread for “ACP.XEX” or “acp.xex” for Bryan’s Atari Color Program and then take a pic of the output.

That file can always be found here:  https://www.thebrewingacademy.net/uav_xex.zip

Also, I would tend to agree that you are not getting all of the colors you really can without the color in line being connected.  It won't harm anything if it is not connected, but you should get a better picture with it connected.

    Samsung 910mp

not mine just passing a deal along..this is the single best lcd for retro computing as it supports RF, Composite, svideo, vga and SCART rgb

Just my $0.02:  It is a very good monitor.  It is especially convenient to be able to test PAL video as it supports both NTSC and PAL broadcast (analog).  You really have to dig into the menus to find the switch for it, but it is there.  SCART is very convenient as well.  Is has built-in speakers and is relatively robust.

I have it hooked up to a SECAM 7800 via the native SCART cable for a test bed for 2600-UNOs and use another one to test PAL 1088 builds since I can populate every port for tests and not have to go to a different monitor.

That was a great price esp. given free shipping.

Afaik, MacRorie simply bought copies of prototypes (please correct me if I'm wrong), and in that case, this doesn't give him any rights to those games, other than playing them.

Would love to hear from @MacRorie, they probably know better :)

They were given to me as part of a deal to do with what I would. Now, did the person who gave them to me have the ability to do that? Dunno. I think so, but could be wrong.

However, I figured I would put them out there so people could play them. Release them to the wild in a year and everybody is, hopefully, copacetic! ;-)

Your one video just shows the character walking from left to right and changing appearance. No real game play. Maybe you could show a sample of the different levels. How playable is it compared to the different versions of Guardian Storms Over Doria?

My game-playing abilities aren't the best either so I would be the last one to make a snarky comment about someone else's skills ;-).

Thanks for offering to make another video.

Wow, Full Court Press looks really impressive.  Too bad it never got further (or did it?).

Is there a summary of all the prototypes you found and how complete they are or if they're different than the roms that are already out there?  The information seems to be spread out throughout this thread in bits and pieces.

    Two places really:

    and

    https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCYxOe-iSI9Ow3gZhafmaYQ

I know it is not all compiled into a comprehensive document/video, but it really is being down as I can steal time from other things.  Not that this isn't important, it's just that everything else is equally important as well! I will find more time to go through the files in the next few weeks.
