  1. Okay, so just finished installing this.

    1. SO AWESOME. No SERIOUSLY. Do it, do it now.

    2. I would recommend the IDC cabling option for the LCD to Lynx connections. Makes it much easier and a little neater.

    3. I was 50/50 on the VGA connection, but did it anyway. It looks good and works amazingly. I would recommend going with a black plug if you can get it, as it looks a little more built in.

    4. DEFINITELY only cut the side of the Lynx without the lettering on it. for the VGA plug, it is easier, ends up being more flush and nice-looking. Thankfully, I had a dead Lynx I could experiment on before hand.

    5. The solder work is easy. Took me a little longer than I wanted since I misquote the IDC cable and made it too short. I sued the Ethernet cable trick for the VGA wiring and some electrical tape to put them together after I was done. BTW: You should just solder pins 6-7-8 together with one wire coming out of pin 7. The instructions imply that you should connect 8 wires to the VGA jack and that is not the case.

    6. Remember that you need to connect the backlight pin on the mod to pin 2 on the chip itself, *not* the test point on the motherboard that is connected by two traces.

All in all an AMAZING mod with pretty decent install.

  2. And so it begins:

A little farther down the line:

So you only put a cable on pin 7 for ground? The directions seem to imply that you should be connecting 8 wires to the VGA port, but there are only 6 connections. Does it matter which one of those to use 6, 7, or 8?

  3. It won't be me. However I'll be glad to share what I've learned to anyone who wants to do this themself.

I was actually considering setting up what I needed to burn on a regular basis. Between these home-brews and other systems without a SD card cart, it might be worth it (and very convenient). Does anyone have a list of the best/better models needed?

    Thanks

  4. I already sold around 100 cartridges of Elansar, and around 100 Elansar CD version

so I really doubt I could sell another 100 ...

When I asked people to send me an email for a 3rd run, I got less than 10 emails anyway ...

I decided to make some more cartridge to avoid ebay speculation, and also because I had around 20 Elansar sticker remaining :D

also I had the opportunity to produce cartridge with Another World 2nd run, so I could get a fair price (else, producing 20 cartridge only would be way too expensive)

Fair enough. I think if people are bidding crazy money for carts on eBay, you probably could sell 100, but that's just me talking I suppose.

I will take one of each anyway and appreciate the work you are doing.

  5. I just wanted to say, wait before buying the expensive Elansar cart listed on ebay.com, I will make some more Elansar cart soon (around 20)

May I ask what the decision gate is on the number of units? Is it funding? What would it take to make, say, 100 units?

  6. I just wanted to say, wait before buying the expensive Elansar cart listed on ebay.com, I will make some more Elansar cart soon (around 20)

    I will DEFINITELY take one.

  7. So, I have been merrily burning CD-Rs of all of the home-brews I can find and all of the ST ported goodness that Cyrano has been putting out, but I cannot for the LIFE of me, figure out how to burn the RAW files I have found. cdrecord just does not work under windows 8.1 even with the ASPI driver installed.

Any thoughts of how to burn, for example, this?

    Thanks

  8. The game was ported on Jaguar with a 320x224 screen restriction.

So it is NTSC compatible, no screen truncate.

My Jaguar is PAL but I force the NTSC init to test like if it was a real NTSC display (320x224 60Hz)

I'm just waiting someone to test it on a real NTSC Jaguar, and also with the M bios (I had problem with Yopaz on this particular model)

Once these tests pass, I will start the production.

No preorder, the game should be available by the end of March.

Good news, the 6MB ROM version is ready and working on my skunkboard :)

This is AWESOME! Congrats! Color me ready to buy the CD version!

  9. That looks FANTASTIC!!! Thanks for posting :)

Btw, could you shed some light on these releases? I see them pop up semi-regularly on eBay (especially Lynxopoly and some Japanese slideshow??) but don't know anything about them (and they're not listed in the Atari Lynx Database on AA). Cheers! :)

Bernd Thomas has the Flash cart, Yastuna 1 & 2, and Solitaire. I got his email from AtariAge. Matthias Aschenbrenner sold me (and wrote) Lynxopoly. He is also on AA.

They should be in the AA database. Not sure why not.

  10. And some time from now they might mysteriously stop working so well. This is something you might have to get used to. You could try keeping records of the moon's phases, day and night temperatures both inside and outside, the value of the Swiss franc relative to the euro and correlate all that in some form of Polygon-style lolchart. It won't help, but it might take your mind off things.

Nice. Well, at least I will be learning something?

  11. OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!

I got two packages today. Both were filled with Lynx goodness!

Lynxopoly: AWESOME! I may be late to this party but DAMN, this is a very nice version. The place names are cool and it plays so well, I was almost through an entire game before I realized I was just going to "test it out." Thankfully, I saved the game and will pick it up later. The cart, casing, manual are so very well done, I HIGHLY recommend you get yourself a copy!

Yastuna 1 & 2: In the same kind of cases and JUST as professionally done as Lynxoply. SO impressed, I got these from Bernd Thomas and they are so very nice.

Also from Bernd: Solitaire! This is an EXCELLENT version of the game. There was also a nice surprise: the Silly Venture 2k14 event cart! So cool. I wish I had know about 5 months ago! I might have gone!

The Flash Cart looks very cool and is operating according to all parameters! Could not ask for a better delivery. One last package is coming (soon, I hope! :-)) and that is the VGA/LCD Lynx II upgrade. I cannot wait to see all of these on the new LCD screen!

  12. Nah, :( their limited releases but you can order the; Double Feature one from :

    http://mdgames.de/jaguar_doublefeature.htm

The bottom two on the order list are sold out so order directly from the author:

    Matthias Dominorder_matthias.gif  Germany

oh and you can download the Downfall original game from: reboot.atari.org

Okay, so I have Double Feature coming from 16/32, but am a little confused as to which ones can be ordered from Matthias since it only lists Double Feature on the web site.

I have been out of the Jag for awhile (I bought mine brand new from Don Thomas on release date two weeks after release date for $225), but got back in when I realized there had been so much new activity and I am trying to catch back up.

(I should mention it was *not* Don's fault that Atari took all of the inventory he had set aside for the pre-order folks and sent them to retailers).
